Trim or no trim, I too recommend the dado. It makes it easier to get a flush solid surface which is helpful whether it is visible or not. Real easy and fast to do as well

My 12" Rlp sealed is in a much smaller box than my Rli8 ported. It isn't even 2/3's the size. Building a ported box for a small box driver like the RLi8 isn't trivial and doing one out of glass is near impossible unless you have a lot of experience doing it.

Ya i was thinking about going active but im not sure how great of speakers i can get to fit my budget. The RSDs i should be able to get for less then $100 shipped. My budget if i went active would probably go up to $150, which im not sure is enough to give a large difference in sq compared to the RSDs. I also am going to keep these in the stock locations, so that might be another thing to consider. I agree, sealed is your friend here. The output of the Rli8 is significantly more (as expected) ported, but it does get down in a sealed enclosure and sounds tits doing it. your English is better than most natives
