the gains were set correctly, but had NO response at all. started to play with it and to get the response i have now that's where they have to be. lpf is at 70, ss off (all the way down, think on amp it's marked 11). set by ear, then had someone use a dmm and they left it at about the exact same way i had it before. amps a cadence txa1000d. I don't buy it. There is no way if it is "correct" that it can slam on some freq's and not others...unless you truly have some very challenged music tastes.

the poly is just a budget driver, right, cause poly is not the best of sounding drivers from what i understand. i wish there was a graph on it...anybody have one? I'd take the Poly's midrange over the MLI's midrange...not quite sure what you mean by it being "just" a budget driver, it sounds pretty nice well i read on DIYMA that poly is not the best choice for a cone material. it will end up sounding muddy on the upper ranges. i could be wrong Not sure which Poly driver you are referring to, but it isn't a bad midrange material.

Personally I wouldn't buy the Type R's nor a Kenwood amp but it would help to understand your goals.

No matter what variation he tries to put on it, it's still a 4th order bandpass acoustical filter. When it comes down to it, you really just have different filters: 2nd Order - sealed and IB 4th Order - bass-reflex and the sealed rear chamber bandpass 6th Order - Front and rear ported bandpass 8th Order - Three chamber ported bandpass (typically one or two of the chambers firing into the third chamber) Everything else that isn't a horn or TL is just a variation of those 4, but the characteristics are extremely similar no matter what that variation is. 2nd order is just keeping the back wave separated from front ...correct? 4th order like sup posted 1 is out of phase to keep them from canceling out each other from facing each other? 2nd order has a 12dB roll off in its response, 4th order has a 24dB roll off.

Lol, the key is in the slant

I do think I have heard that revelation before. Glad you are taking it the way you are though.

Gah Dang! My friends tell me I'm buying the expensive stuff at $13/5th Smirnoff Vodka Smirnoff isn't really drinkable

My favorite choice is the Scan Speak D2904/6000 but you aren't going to like the price at all. The low cost alternative is the Seas Neo, but regrettably the HDS is a WAY better tweeter to match up with that mid.

You say the gains and settings are fine, but it surely doesn't sound like it. What are your crossover settings? Subsonic filter? How did you set your gains? What amp are you using? Let's start with looking at what you have first.

Just put them in a bottle and hope.

I prefer homebrews...actually any beer with flavor is nice.

Leine's is a cheap local beer made in cheeseland about an hour east of Minny.

Focal 165 k2p vs. RE XXX 6.5 vs. Morel Dotech Ovation

The distaste for them however is easily acquired. -
Neither will really work that well with the Mli, but that Vifa would be completely terrible with it. You need to find a really low Fs driver...

Maggies for HT? If I have time I love to just sit down there and listen to music, but alas... Actually, I don't have a problem with maggies for HT, don't have near the the 'qualities' as some others for HT but I really like them. I'm actually looking into replacing the Maggies here in the house, and using them at home for Mom and Dad since they really like them. It wasn't that I didn't think they could do HT just fine, but that they are nice on music and shouldn't be wasted on useless things like TV.

what ya drinking? Leinenhugel's Red Lager Leinenkugel eh? Having some cheese and bratwurst with it?

For Vodka that is ridiculously high

I'm not a fan of vodka martinis though...shaken or stirred... That is because you don't buy nice enough vodka Other than Goose, what good quality vodka would you recommend? Nothing wrong with the Goose. Belvedere I like a bit better. *the sneaky pick is the Costco brand, it is amazingly good for the price
