    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I've been in their building a few times. They have rented a bunch of gear from me. I just haven't followed Mustangs or any fun cars for that matter as whenever I do I want to own one. A stage 3 Roush is so much cheaper than a GT 350. Makes it hard for me to rationalize the Voodoo. Being that they are discontinuing everything with the Voodoo I am scared for the future of a 350 as well. It probably means that it goes up a ton in value...unless I buy one and then it drops like a rock. Seems to me a turbo'd Voodoo is a perfect transplant for a Pro Touring car, but that is a divergence from my current need which is something to put a smile on my face again as I run the boys around town. A Mark 9 with more wheelbase would be better as there is no way anyone can sit behind me in the Stang. 3 seat car is better than 2 though as I have 2 boys.

    I don't want a Lincoln, I want a stretched Mustang with a nicer interior.

Any problems with the Roush Stage 3? I assume they are pretty robust. Seen a few for sale sub-30k.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Of course I don't want one at $80k. When they are 2 years old and $35k I am wickedly interested. Speaking of Ford. How old of an S550 is ok. I assume no 2015, but 16 on?

I don't know. The new Aviator is gorgeous. I want one. Finally realized what people want. Navigator is starting to show up around here as well. Used to be all BMW and Land Rovers, now Aviator and XC90's are popping up.

Stretch it 6" for some more interior space, add nice guts and make it look like a sportier continental.

Wish they would release a Mark 9 now. S550 based with the Voodoo please.

    Building a silly van.

Mini DSP is not something I would generically recommend for you, IF you are new to this. Why? Exact opposite for me. Tons of 8ohm options and to design drivers to be 4ohm you regularly wipe out the efficiency meaning the overall response to the same power is not more. That and any idiot can sell a 4ohm driver as it seems the average education in the car audio market is miles behind the home audio. As with any rule there are exceptions, but out of the last 30 or so drivers (non-sub) I have bought for my cars only 2 were 4ohm.

Not sure I understand your space, but I would definitely HAVE them share airspace.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

I miss mine. 2 door GT cars are by far the best dailies. Loved my 8.

Holy shit dude. Nice work. Somehow I completely missed all the measurements. Work life balance has been terrible lately. Curious to know what you used although it seems I am really late to the convo. Out of all threads, not sure how I didn't see this.

    speakers for BMW X1

Ouch. I'd MUCH rather spend it on installation that horribly overpriced drivers.

I think you should find different mounting locations. The compromises you have to make to use only shallow 4's, not have a real midbass or spend craptons of money scream do something else

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Lol, I have 3 tents. Don't know why I didn't bring one. Slept in one Sat so it is hanging in the garage airing out any moisture that the rain/dew left on it.

    speakers for BMW X1

Haven't heard the 1658, the 1337 however has amazing midrange. The Mark Audio has received rave reviews for that sort of application as well.

    speakers for BMW X1

BMW is using them as midbasses, you might as well too. Personally I'd pull fresh wires so you can easily go back to stock but that frees up the range on the mids to not need midbass which would be helpful. Would allow you to focus on a 4 that has a killer midrange but not worry about trying to reproduce midbass. Would need an 6+1 channel processor and amplification. The Tang in the pic above ought to be able to get down around 200hz in the doors. Mark audio makes a great 4 as well. Lots of other options that I haven't listened to as well. A set of those, a processor and amplification and you would have a three way that should have reasonable midbass and a killer midrange. There are some tuning and staging fun with the underseat, but if you don't want to cut up your doors this is probably the easiest solution.

I love my Tangband W4's. I am running them full range on axis though.

    speakers for BMW X1

Are you going to use the under seat 8's as midbass? If not, I'd just run the stock system. No way a 4 will work for you unless you are willing to throw all stage to the rear.

    speakers for BMW X1

Is it a 3 way? There has to be something larger than a 4" in that car. Going to be really hard to make something with 4's being the midbass...

    Building Custom Subwoofer

Start with the box. Master that. Then learn FEA. Start designing the structure to do what you need. Then source prototypes. Multiply your build cost by 10+. Otherwise just buy something. There is no benefit to sourcing all the components to build an off the shelf sub versus buying it. There is a SHITLOAD of benefit to designing a good box and crossover. If you are an engineer apply what you know here. This will be a MUCH better hobby. The speaker is the easy part as there are a TON of good ones out there. There are zero good crossovers and nearly no good boxes. Your idea to have fun in audio is good, but you should start by learning about the whole process which would be the implementation of the speaker versus the speaker itself. As for the manufacturers, they are primarily in Asia. Lots of manual work. If you want it done here as I said above, 10x the price if not more.

    Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Agreed completey. Just wish I would have been myself. The past few weeks have sapped me so bad. I should have brought a tent...that would have helped as I could have relaxed better. Driving the big ugly home in doctored state isn't a good idea.

Probably. I love mine. Grinder of that quality new starts above $700.
