I am going to try and get him to. Plenty of opportunities on our lake Probably be on a boat when it happens though.
-
Hopefully I'll catch Aidan doing that this summer

I wasn't referring to length, but area. Seriously. The 8" mids I am working on a design for right now require a 4" aero. Obviously subs will take more if you want to keep the port velocity down.
-
It's pretty simple. Most people think SQ means sounds good....but they are wrong. In particular in the world of subs. Everything is a trade-off. You either get a peaky frequency response or smooth. Peaky is loud, smooth is not. SQ is smooth. This is exactly why the "term" SQ isn't allowed on the board. This misconception is horrible and I hate it. And believe me it's more than 95% of Q buyers that are confused and should be in a BL. It's very obvious from their posts. Luckily for them though they don't get to do apples to apples comparisons so they never know they chose wrong.

This time, use more port area that wasn't enough.

I'm not conflicted, I want. she is too small for you. You exceed the height limit for that ride. No. Just gives me leverage as a handle on her head
-
Huh? You are getting RIPPED. Why do you need a chain & wires? I've got a good 4000mi on mine without problems...

Crap lets hope so you are on your way home. I'm home! Ate on the way too, seemingly okay so far.
-
Lol this is truer than most are willing to admit. I don't think people get Q's because they play lower. People get Q's for accuracy. No, people get the Q's because they think that they want SQ but they don't understand what that means.

Got monstrously bad food poisoning two nights ago. In the past two days I've only eaten two bananas. Starting to get hungry though and haven't yet puked today so hopefully its done!
-
Yep, exactly why I hired that out

Can he get something larger than 6.5? In the realm of PA speakers that is far from a sweet spot in particular if you want any midbass at all. PA speakers give up frequency extension for sensitivity and normally make up for it in cone area. Exactly why you see a lot of 15" 2 way systems in the PA world. Not that I would say any of the 15" 2 way's are designed all that well as intrinsically it is a bad idea too, but it exemplifies my point. I'd expect a single 10" to do a way better job than the two 6.5"s unless they are run in a 3 way or more system.
-
Both good points. One other quick comment. The frequency response (default view) curve in WinISD is by far the least useful of them all. Not that the information isn't useful, but without regards to your input signal you don't learn all that much.

Doesn't matter if you are comparing the two you want the BL.

New "SQL" system for a metalhead - Right direction?
///M5 replied to pascalc's topic in General Audio
The main reason to buy the Scan is if you need the small format. Flat on axis response isn't really your concern as in the doors they will be rather off axis. If you aren't sure on material I'd go listen to some mid to high end speakers at a real stereo store and determine which tweeter style you like the best. If it were me and I were you, I wouldn't spend the dough on the scans and would put that money elsewhere. Don't get me wrong they are one of my favorite tweeters and I have a pair, but again if I am not restricted to small format I wouldn't ever spend that much money on tweeters. Do you have a headunit you are using? *you might have said already, and if so sorry I forgot* My personal preference is to have full control of the processing at the headunit. The easiest way of course is to buy a headunit with it built in. -
Stupid bar here had the SF Philly game on all the TV's except the one I couldn't see that had Stanley Cup playoffs on. That game sure made soccer look like the most exciting sport of all time. Holy hell.

Err, best protein for your body comes in the form of an animal. If it runs around and moves, eat it!

10" is really not enough for an IB install either. You need WAY more cone area IB than in an enclosure.
-
That'd make me shit myself

Help with preventing voltage drops?

Doubt that. -

That tweeter list wasn't a rec'd list for you, just ones with a lower Fs allowing them to play low. You can keep the tweeter in the stock location. You are going to give up stage height as well as some highs. They will be easier to blend though. At the same time, at least down there you can fit a 3" tweeter which you'll need to do if you look at my list Other than the Scan D2904 they are all larger format drivers. For your application I'd lean that way though. My guess is that you prefer a metal cone, but I may be off. Do you have a preference? I forget now as well, but do you currently have amplifiers? If so, what power at what impedance do they put out. Also curious on the processing. If it's all undecided that's okay to. -
why are different bass frequencys felt at different areas?
///M5 replied to no_username's topic in General Audio
Part of it is just resonance. Same thing that creates rattles, buzzes, and other obnoxious anomalies. -
Yikes, 12ga is HUGE for that. You can go WAY smaller. Save your dough...
