Amplifier pop prevention is simple, a power on delay relay is very simple to build I will consider the pricing when it will be time. miniDSP 2-way plugin has 12 bands of L/R PEQ, Zapco has 10. If I can get the miniDSP + an old Zapco AG350 for about the same as a DC Ref 350.2, then I will get the miniDSP. Indeed, simple, but theirs includes a power conditioner/noise removal circuit as well and is about $10. I'd spend more than $10 in time choosing components to slap one together myself and delay my project a few weeks.I I'll let you know if it is all what it is cracked up to be. Hope so as it will let me run headunitless which in the boat (actually anything mobile) is perfect. If I need a line driver, Exile has one that is sort of neat. Sub volume, boat volume and fader between in boat and tower. (or F/B if you will). I imagine that there is a car audio equivalent though, but considering it's been more than 10 years since I've needed a line driver I wouldn't know. Hopefully I don't, If not, I am just going to use some IP67 pots on the rca's and run the droid at full non-clip throttle to the miniDSP.

Input is higher, output isn't. Jumper switches between the two on the input. My guess is it's just a voltage divider. *could be wrong on the output, but since it's a jumper I doubt it
-
I'll post some details for sure. Probably will buy two up front and if it doesn't do what I need sell one and keep the other for in house bs and temporary use if I slap any cabinets together.
-
I'm probably ordering one tomorrow. I'll need the DSP for the boat. Curious to see if it has any battery backup when the power is completely off. If not, I'll be adding my own.

One downfall with the minidsp. 0.9vrms input (2.5v peak) and the same with the output. You need an amp that the gains can be pegged and not be noisy or you'll need a line driver. If you use it instead of a headunit you'll either need an on/off relay to prevent amplifier pops or to buy theirs for $11 or whatever it is.

Valid point... I would really like to try the cut and boost method to improve focus, that's why L/R EQ would be useful. My Alpine only has 5-band parametric. And I would also like independent L/R gain, since I currently use balance to center my stage and it's far from ideal. I might play with a miniDSP soon and if it's better than the Zapco onboard DSP, I'll go with that. The processing I currently have is plenty for midbass and sub but L/R EQ and gain would be awesome for the full-ranges. I wasn't arguing against L/R. I consider that a prerequisite in car.
-
And there is pretty much no reason ever for a 10 band parametric.

Minidsp is only $100 so don't bend over too hard trying to find one. Personally I'd rather have the processing separate, sort of like I'd prefer a car that only had a computer for the engine other than the ones I install

I'm sitting at 89k atm. Or at least that is what I can find so far. Mine is gradually getting smaller. Was well over that before Yeah I can only imagine. I've had 1 hard drive fail before that had most of my music on it. Mine is 100% ripped off CD. Part way through the process I lost it once. I now own 2 copies in the house, one in my briefcase and one at my parents house. I am NOT doing that again.

Wasn't a knock, just an observation. Mach5 & SoundSplinter probably had the most build pics per purchase of any manufacturer I've ever seen on a forum. They also had a personal following from spending a lot of time on the board in general. My observation may be wrong, but I sort of doubt it. People who feel a personal connection to their vendor are more likely to post pictures.

I've had a bitch of a time getting an IR repeater to work with my TV in the living room. Everywhere else no biggie.
-
Tab 2 is on the website, was hoping it'd drop the Tab 1 more. I "need" the infrared too. Really would help me save some BS time with wiring.

Google is due out in July, boat season starts now. I actually don't care so much about the processor, more about the storage. Thought about a 250gb Archos for that reason...actually have one in my office, but unopened. Think I'm going to return it.
-
There is usually a direct correlation between percentage of build logs posted and manufacturer involvement. Obviously depends on the point of purchase as well, B&M purchased don't ever tend to make it on the forums.

Does that mean some jack ass is going to attempt to start a re-enactment?

I'm trying to scale it down for mobility. ie, taking it to the boat. At the same time, I am hoping to fucking god that the Samsung Galaxy tab will talk nice to a 500gb hdd. It should I figure if I power it via a power supply and not the USB. I'd prefer the Galaxy as I also want the infrared port for home. Like the 7" size for portability. Everywhere a tab would go that I need a bigger screen my laptop already goes.

Holy fucksticks! How in the world do you find time to listen to 64,000 songs? Heard them all multiple times. Amusingly I've "never" downloaded music either. Quotes are there as my Christmas music is 100% downloaded. I probably could have made some torrent sites happy, but am not into that.

I only have 10k. I removed more than twice that yesterday. And by removed I mean put them in a place that isn't my music folder. I don't want to go through the ripping process again if I change my mind. I just have everything in one folder, then remove anything I don't listen to from the database in itunes. All the ripped stuff is converted to the lossless format that Apple plays nice with. AAC, or something like that. Seems to work well, but then again I'm dealing with a fraction of what you are. I have them in folders that match my tags. Also realize that for a great portion of what I have the database of songs and album art doesn't exist either. Folders work way better for me since then I can easily reclassify the genre's based on my current tastes. I always search genre first, artist next, album after. Never songs.

Just deleted a large portion of my music collection. Down to 64k songs.
