    Welcome to the IHoP

Funny since it's a simple no head unit install.

    Welcome to the IHoP

By far the most complex wiring setup I've ever put in a vehicle albeit over a very short distance.

Actually getting through the nightmare or 35 solder welds in my volume control when I couldn't find my pen iron was really the only thing I had to do. The rest was a bunch of zip ties and trimming. I did succumb to a few solderless connectors in very non-key locations but ONLY because I ran out of solder.

Do you know where the gain was set on it? I didn't open it and spent ZERO time tuning. Put amp gains on minimum, set minidsp to cross over at 80Hz, plugged in line driver and launched the boat. I'll have plenty of time on the water to dink with it later, installing was the first key.

You are more than welcome Sean. I am glad you put it to use and will take care of it. I am looking foward to your boat build. You'll laugh at my mounting locations. Sort of hung upside down under the dash out of harms way. Can't be seen, won't be found or understood by thieves and can't get touched or hurt. Hell the miniDSP's are next to it and they are bare circuit boards

Come visit If we lived closer, I think we would be best of friends doing all kinds of crazy things with the little men. It's nice here. Hint.

    Welcome to the IHoP

And Mr. Neal, thank you again. Completely noise free boat. Sounds great. Will sound better when I get off my ass and build a sub box and some tower speakers.

Someone remind me in a half hour to turn the sprinkler system back on. Don't want it to run tonight and it's scheduled for 10, but want it to in the AM.

Post boating I did the ritual mow, weed whack, leafblower the whole yard and cleanup our woods. 2 hours of bullshit. Normally the w mows, but I was getting sick of waiting.

You got the boat, I got the booze and stogies. And it should go in the water in about 2 hours. Let's see what the weather does for next week

Ha, actually just wanted to apply the phrase. I rarely smoke cigar's although when I do I enjoy them.

Pretty sure he's renting the location, but the view ain't bad and he hires good talent if you know what I mean.
  15. is the wait lol due to comprehension? Here it is in a nutshell. You compared two things for which you didn't actually have any ideas what the settings were and thought they sounded the same. The settings may have been the same, the output may have been different. Your method of comparison DIDN'T work nor show or prove anything other than you don't quite understand how to compare the amps. Theoretically even if you had done the setup correctly you also may not have noticed a difference since the best possible gain isn't that much and your ears (all humans) are dumb enough to hardly notice that when spread out over a period of time.

Hopefully you have two 18's and one is in each door up front running in stereo. Then stage is fine with me.

    Welcome to the IHoP

For RCA's in the house I forego the shielded extra conductor and instead just use RG6. I've found it to be more than noise free running everywhere in the house and was cheap and easy to pull since it's stiff. Sort of a bitch for short connections especially when I have the uber long connectors, but custom lengths by just cutting and squishing a connector on is the bomb.

    Welcome to the IHoP

I had a fleet of 20 yr old monster cable that had a bad RCA on one end or the other. I saved them thinking some day I'd need scrap and sure enough had four scraps which was enough for 8 cables. Nice in that they were dual conductor + shield so that I didn't have to try and solder the shield as a lead. I expect no noise...at least until the depth finder is on. I tested it briefly without the LD and the miniDSP works. Sounds so much fucking better than the shit that was in there. Still sounds like the sub amp has some bass processing of some sort on, but that wouldn't surprise me since the 4 chn amp up front is also acting funny. Polk D4000 on the way...

The knobs were .99 at that electronic store I found the other day

    Welcome to the IHoP

Boat's headunit: Ran out of light or she'd be in. And YES I know the knobs are out different lengths. I need to find some to compensate as my quad pots stem is uber long. At least it's for the tower so it makes sense.
