You speak as if I'm spending $1000 on a rifle, and $250 on glass, which I would see as odd as well, but I'd be spending a little less then half the cost of the rifle it's self. I work for an optics company. My gut says spend 80% on the optics. Rifles generically are simple to make in comparison and have cheap contents. Just seems backwards to me. I'd also expect that in your category used is really the only option. Should be plenty of people upgrading out of the price class you are in

I don't know shit about guns Stefan but that sounds backwards to me. Glass is expensive, steel is cheap. That's sort of akin to spending $200 on wire and $50 on speakers.

I mean, I can smell it from here!

That looks like a fart cannon

You raiding my fridge? Not today... We have a local Middle Eastern place that I can confidently say has some of THE best food I've ever eaten.. I've eaten at a lot of greek/Middle Eastern places and they do not rival their food. Horribly easy to make at home as well

Will do. Another family boating day hopefully. Only 55 now but heating up fast and sunny

My buddies dad whom I made dinner for tonight grew up in a family business. His dad sharpened knives and tools for a living. He said this was the sharpest knife he's ever held and said he'd be willing to shave with it.

Oh and a quick review of the knife: HOLY FUCKIN' SHARP

Exactly why I said I don't currently have any plans to go to Penn atm *sad not smiling face*
-
Always have referred to PA as Penn

All amps are susceptible to thermal noise, ones that are made cheaply even more so.
-
I love Coastal Seafoods btw.
-
I have no trips to Penn atm

Whipped out the sashimi knife today. Had Hamachi Nigiri, Hamachi Sashimi, Spicy Scallop Handrolls, Wagyu beef in a Negimiso sauce, soybean sprouts, and steamed sugar snap peas. Feel like I am forgetting something. Worst part was my friend and his dad were coming over at 6, but couldn't make it so at 5:15 we went there. I had to bring it all with me. Actually pretty simple to throw together though so not a big deal

NAK has turned into shit. Last I heard, they are no more anyways. I'm sure you have some contacts who are in the know. I know, still the memories are there and the shit is not prevalent enough for me to smell it. Considering they too use the same board layout as the PPI/Polk/Hertz I am sure that piece is okay. Real curious who uses the best components and actually makes a better amp or if they are all interchangeable. If it's the later, shame on Hertz.
-
Does it go away if you decrease the gain? That amp will be suceptible to exposing thermal noise when the gain is up. That shouldn't be intermiddent but if you remove that from your description it sounds likely.

Thanks, ordered a Polk three days ago for $230 shipped. Somehow paying that extra $35 seems worth it to me even though I am pretty sure it isn't. Hell if the Nakamichi's were $300 I'd pay for them. Not sure what about Nak stuff that has always excited me. Just ordered one to try it first. When it's a large improvement over the current RF I'll order the remaining ones and sell off the RF. Appreciate the link, I don't spend anytime at that hell hole.

Is there a difference in output between 400-1000 watts?

Why not a 200w amp then? -
I just have a cheap pistol and a real cheap pen. I try to avoid doing it since I hate it. Can imagine when the ALPS arrived what I said.

Not positive, but 6 or 9 volts seems to come to mind. We were playing with an SSL amp to prove my point. Well, with my gains set at off I cans distortz ma speakerz
