I might measure any boat gain there is first as it would REALLY help in the enclosure design, but not sure how I can simulate the final install well enough to bother. Going to "load" the sub against the hull and the current one isn't. If I can just twist the box then fine, but otherwise not sure what to do. No frequency analyzer at the moment, so I'll be the guy with the $3k mic and a volt meter, ROFL.

Gotta yank the old one out to even know what I have for space and then going to build a cardboard one so I can go sub shopping.
-
Matt, going to mock a sub box some time next week if you want to laugh.
-
That's absurd. This time last year they were still $300.

Cold smoke? Something I've always meant to do is to try to figure out the 60deg smoke.

And I get to present to PhD's. Great!
-
Do you have any notes to get you started or is it based on reading info? It's based on data I haven't taken yet.
-
Yay! Get to write an abstract today for something I've not done.

The owner... and you have 5cuft.
-
Imagine that, Kevin doesn't know and won't respond. What an effin' surprise. Is it possible to sell the one you have and buy two of something else? IMO that'd be the best way to use 5cuft.

I find it hard to believe they would destroy inventory rather than selling it to recoup their costs. They destroyed it with a sale, duh. Actually your hunch is right. -
And really, it was just a puff of air out of my nostrils but alas
-
Of course everyone already knows I'm an asshole
-
And therefore me too, because you made me laugh.

Don't give your Dr. Breaks.
-
Yikes, that thing is burnt.
-
Obviously with some investment in router bits you can also do this.

Neal, I know nothing of these lenses but you should research them as IMO they'd be good all around lenses. I think 18-50 is too low on a cropped sensor unless you have a small house and a big family http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/596259-REG/Sigma_571205_24_70mm_f_2_8_IF_EX.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/646853-REG/Sony_SAL2875_SAL_2875_28_75mm_f_2_8_SAM.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/284401-REG/Tamron_AF09M700_A09_SP_AF.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/845351-REG/Tamron_SP_24_70mm_f_2_8_DI.html I'd buy the body with nothing and try out something your friend has that is similar. Tell us what frustrates you about it and what you like and we can help. One quick hint. Always shoot in P. It removes one extra variable and while full manual mode is best, it is a lot to absorb atm. In P pick the ISO that makes sense to you for the light and roll with it. That'll let you concentrate on composing the shots and testing the glass and zoom range.

There is a solution for everything. Goals & budget pretty much determine the right steps.
-
The body is better than mine, glass is worst, photographer will make the difference.
-
Neal. http://www.dpreview.com/previews/sonyslta57 8 pages of comparisons. Sounds like Sony is trying really hard. I'd still shop lens first and see maybe what your buddy can do to help. Other things in that price range that are interesting although taking 2 bills off makes a big difference.
-
Indeed, but that body will set you back a few thousand bucks. Along with some f/2 it sure would make taking pictures in old school European churches way easier.
