Wish....and now the inside is tore up. I am going to take my lunch at the boat though. Munch a sandwich and paint the cooler I installed in 30min...maybe some cardboard mocking as well.

What you've heard and the reality are different then. Until this year, NVH work was done completely after something was built. Not designed into and only when a vehicle didn't meet the criteria specified by marketing and engineering for a platform. Of course, recently Chrysler had the nice benefit of learning first hand what doing this engineering up front will do. When they adopted Merc platforms they could focus on their sheetmetal and powertrain integration. They learned it's worthwhile to take NVH up stream, but have just started that this year. Ford & GM utilize Europe for a lot of this and the Japanese companies rely a bit more on faith. This is all first hand as I've been in every automotive NVH lab in North America outside of Hyundai's which somehow something keeps coming up when I come into town. If anyone is going to the Automotive Body Congress or NAFEMS Conference stop in an listen as I am presenting a paper on this topic...that is assuming I can get my team to finish the experimental work for validation.

What you describe is not rear fill, but an attempt at rear stage. And IF your system was setup at all properly it wouldn't be necessary. The gaps are due to poor tuning or a lack of enough balls in your front stage. Spending the same dough to improve it would help every row of the vehicle

Seriously a TERRIBLE way to make a decision. You left out the most critical factor in the whole thread which is the install. There are definitely situations where either of these subs could fit your needs better and that is very easy to tell without owning either. This will be wholeheartedly box dependent, goal, and power dependent. There are only 2 things we can go on so far in your thread to point you in the right direction. With the power you have you won't have to turn your gains as low on the Icon and since you seem to not quite understand boxes you are probably better off with the Icon as well since there is more liberty to screw up the enclosure and have it still sound good. I'll add one other comment. For those that have used the L7 and think it sounds like shit there are only two possibilities. 1) They suck at understanding t/s parameters and how to decide which sub to buy or 2) They suck at understanding how to use those parameters to design a box. And if you suck at either of those, the Icon is a better choice. More box independent and more support via this forum. Now of course if we knew your goals, knowledge, background and other things the answer may be completely different. There is no such thing as a catch all answer and if you find one anywhere on the net it's been made by people who don't know what they are talking about.

Did dad school you? Embarrassingly close. He was doing nearly the same weights as me. Usually 10-20lbs less on the upper body and I am not sure in the legs where I'd be the differential is higher.

My 75 yr old dad who has never worked out ever started a few months ago and goes nearly every week.

Sort of always been the case, it is only marketing to decide when they label something. Again there is a design criteria based on the audience that a vehicle is marketed to. That is when they choose to use a name, but the same players who make the high end OE car stuff design the shitty OE car stuff.

They have been doing this for 10 years... What it really comes down to is the amount of money they are spending on NVH, the quieter an interior is, the easier it is to make sound nice. Err, not quite...depending on your definition of NVH. They all have NVH targets, but they also have cost, safety and economy targets (weight & aero since we are talking about bodies). It really isn't what they spend on NVH but what compromises they've designed into the car for a price point. Modern cars have upwards of 10 different types of steel in them to address the concerns above but most of the goals are the opposite of NVH so they are bandaging shit together to try and make it still sound ok. If NVH were truly budgeted correctly you'd see some ridiculous quiet cars. Of course that also tells you what else got cut off that list if it isn't...

Making chicken fajitas tonight. After this talk on chicken earlier....and the rain, I've decided to make something new up. Poached chicken. Mexican fajita gravy. I need more acceptable freezer meals and it's rather easy to make a batch of gravy and freeze it. Also easy to poach chicken in 170F water since you don't really have to care how long it goes. ...and I have some breasts that I thawed last night from the freezer so I am already skeptical as to their moisture level and general condition
