my buddy has a 18 btl the old style 3 mag. we took it out one day and the tinsel has been slaping on the spider and put holes in them. the box its in is 4.5 cuft and tuned to 32hz with 1800watt on it. i glued some t-shirt on the spiders hoping it will help my main question is does the recone come like the new style with the tinsel under the spiders?

i had this installed for a few weeks cheapo sony headunit,1 extra battery, stock alt,sae1200 playing at 2ohm ,1 15btl. just yesterday it started to do that snap sounds like a m80 in the truck and you can see the arc in side the amp. when it snaps its only for a sec then comes back on. all my connections are tight and secure, it only does it mostly when i change the song mp3 cd at high levels and randomly. the protection light bilnks when it plays but does not turn off the amp. i dont know if this would do anything but installed a volt meter from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&s2=0&c=2#ht_1752wt_961 i got the meter ground with the headunit same with the acc power. the signal comes off the main power run the ground for the signal wire is with the headunit ground. but i unhooked the signal from the power it still snaps i don.t think that has somthing to do with it- 13 replies

i got a 15 btl FL dual 1 ohm i need a good amp or amps no more then 350 dollars i have 1 sae 1200 on it now but my buddy is going to buy it so i can get something bigger any ideas???????
-
do you think it would be fine for a 15 fully loaded btl to handle 2 sae 1200 on each coil at 1 ohm i did this with a solo x 12 before it hit hard
-
i realized they cant not be strapped but i can strap them with a maxx link but i don't want to buy one so im going to hook it up amp per voice coil with a 5.7 cu box @ 34 hz
-
can the sae 1200 be linked or not??????????????
-
ididn't think you could hook them up together as it does not say anything in the manual but i see now. i will hook them up both ways when i get the other sae 1200 for now 600 rms @2ohm
-
yes 1 amp per coil soo 2 amps one btl i ended up getting a 15 btl of ebay but i got that dam amp (sae1200)allrdy and that 15 is a dual 1 ohm but i dont want to sellll that sundown its a great amp so thats why i was thinking off that set up has any one else ever hook a sub up like that it was in the solo x manual where i found how to do it

Welcome to the forum, first give us some more information to help us help you. What car will it go in, what space do you have available, what other equipment will be used and do you have any upgrades to your electrical. I would stick to what FI recommends for their sub and no matter which size you pick within their specs should do you justice. its going in a 1990 olds i got mad room box size is not a prob. going to be installing the big 3 + extra batt. when i have the money HO alt. im going to be running all 0 for power and ground i dont know to much about tunning if 34hz is better then 28hz i dont know lol
