I know I normally hate people that do this, but I need some help and time is important. So to barge into forums and throw out some questions, here goes. I'm going to buy one Fi BTL 18" sub. I am hoping to eventually get two, but that may or may not happen. I do not want to spend more than $600 to amplify the one, or two of them. I have found some pretty cheap (and at the same time nice looking) amps from sound storm laboratories, on a trusted website (sonicelectronix). The first amp has a 3400 watt at 1 ohm power handling, and 2200 watt at 4 ohm power handling. (link: http://soundstormlab.com/main/620) The second amp has a 2550 watt at 1 ohm power handling, and 1800 watt at 4 ohm power handling. (link: http://soundstormlab.com/main/465) The speaker can be customized (view options here: https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=154a4f7327a4bf6/shopdata/0050_Speakers/0010_BTL/product_overview.shopscript ), and people have told me to go with the DVC @ 2 ohms. I have looked at some diagrams, and seen that you can wire a 2 ohm DVC speaker for either 4 ohms, or 1 ohm. (Source: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=22) So, here are my questions (also if anything I have said is wrong, please correct me): Would it be bad, or alright, to wire one of the BTL's to the first amp in series, to get a 4 ohm load, and therefore have 2200 watts going to a 2000 watt RMS speaker)? and then have the option of adding another one of the amps with another sub? Or would it be MUCH safer to go with the second amp, and only put 1800 watts @ 4 ohms to the sub? Next set of questions: Could I only buy one of the first amps, and push one of the subs in series for the 2200 watts at 4 ohms, and then if I got another speaker, change the wiring to parallel, and hook up two of the speakers and have 1700 watts @ 1 ohm going to each sub? I am not sure how to wire up multiple subs like that, so explanation of this would be good(or if it is even possible!) Thanks guys, and I will be sure to go to the noob section and introduce myself later!
