^calculator works very well. -
Anyone know of a device that you can hook to RCAs to make LEDs flash?
thebiggmann12 replied to deernet's topic in General Audio
check advanced auto parts...ik they had one that they say is for their street glow led underbody kit, but idk if it hooks up to rca's or if u can maybe "modify" it to work. -
if it is a "high spl" box it is probably tuned wayyyy to high.

my girlfriend keeps a set in my glovebox.

hell if u can get 3.5 after displacement and port, you could do a 15" nightshade...they like smaller boxes...3.5 is their maximum recommended.

yea it really just depends on what you want to do...as long as the air gets into the cabin and your not looking to get crazy high tl scores, you should be fine doing whatever u want.
-
was that box ported? if not you might try building a ported box for those 15s...u should be at least into the 140's with 2 decent 15s.
-
nope..... Explain the nope? I'm confused... i too am confused. and to the op, there is no universal way to direct a sub, but im guessing sub up and port towards the trunk lid would be fine. some people put them facing the backseat and some people take the back seat out and face the subs right into the cabin.
-
u could do sub up port back.

alright, so i currently have an 18" nightshade that im getting reconed...i kinda wanna go with a 15 instead to shed some wait off of my car...its slow as shit as it is lol, so im wanting to go a bit smaller. how much output would i lose if i went to a 15. as long as the box is still just as good it shouldn't be a noticable difference right? any help would be great guys. thanx.

i've seen several single 12 setups that will out meter an 18...size really doesnt mean all that much. theoretically a couple 15s should b louder than a 12, but it all depends on the install. hell, jacob did a 150.x or some rediculous number with a single 8" sub...im guessing i wasn't doing a 150 with my 18...its all in the install.
-
i was always told that 45s were bracing...to the op: ported boxes are not 1 note wonders if u build them correctly. u dont wanna go to big or too small, and you dont want to tune to low or too high, u just have to find a happy medium and u will have a great sounding sub/box combo.
-
ok that makes more sense...thanx for clearing that up. i mean i know what to watch for and smell for, but others may not.
-
see i just got a freshly reconed hdc3 15 and i think it sounds great, and gets hella loud. the reason i was wondering about break in is bc aq says to break in the sub and i have been trying to figure out why they recommend that when everybody else says its not necessary. the only reason i could think of is because the recommend a high tuning and we all know that if u play too far below tuning you could tear ur spiders...but when they recommend upwards of 36hz tuning how much lower can you play them without messing something up?
-
what do they gain by telling people to be gentle on their subs for a few weeks?
-
i think the reason aq recommends a break in period on their subs is because the recommend tuning them so high. if u just go beating on them below tuning wont the spiders tear?
-
i heard onlinecarstereo.com was good.

just do some reading man, its really not that bad. there are some nice calculators all over the net, or u could do it the old fashioned brain way. -
those look to have a psi recone, so they might not be all that bad.
