Okay this is what I am going to worjing with for a little while; 2009 WMD215R D1 T/S parameters in series : FS 25 hz..............( was told after break in 24hz. is better number) Qms 4.3 Vas 3.7 cft mms 368 g re 2 ohms Qes .52 SPL 87 db SPL 1w/1m pdia 330.2 mm Qts .46 Le 1.2 BL 15 ......................(found this for xmax) (Xmax is around .75" and Xmech is 1.5"(FYI both parameters are 1 way) So 3" total throw.) I found this sub on another site, used, $200 bucks shipped and insured. After I had purchased the sub I learned there is some controversy amongst the folks building it and some of our guys on here, I feel the need to just throw a mention of that out there. If you plan on buying directly fom these folks perhaps a little research should be done. I have not had a chance to test thier product, however I know I got my sub at about half the price that they are asking for it. upon opening the box and pulling out the sub, well, it is a big boy! the shipping weight is 55.2 lbs. , they say it is 880oz. ,sturdy, never the less. "These subs are recomended for low tuning 35 hz and down and are geared for extreme low end responce not higher frequency SPL applications. box size can range from 2.5 ft^3 - 5 ft^3 ported and sealed boxed are not recomended. MSRP = $400 each." from their sight. this is one of thier pictures of the 15" this is the only pic i got of it so far. I am guessing some of you like these type of pics, so here it is. so, this sub purchase was from an attraction to get low, I am all for loud and will be attempting that even better in the future, currently though, I am guessing that if I put 1600 watts of my Sundown SAZ-3000D behind this sub and build the t-line enclosure for it, I will have enough loud for me as well as low! I will post up some additional pictures of the sub in a week or so. I hope to spend the next few days studying t-line enclosures. If I am up on my game correctly so far, I will need the 1/4 wave of my fs (24hz.) to be around 11.77 feet! that is quite the port length right there! the port area is said to want to be the same as the sd (cone area), of my sub, uh if my math is correct, that is 132.665" sqaure inches! Wow! that is a big ol' port now! I will be inverting my sub, I have always liked this style. I am still trying to figure if i want port mouth to fire to the side or up, along with the sub firing up as well. Thanks for you input, chop.

well, I don't know fellars, it is something that I will do at some point and time.......perhaps just not this point and time. I have heard alot of guys that love them, they own them. I have heard people very fond of sealed enclosures, they own them. and it goes on with ported, bandpass, 4th, 6th order..........seems that folks tend to lean toward what they have. I definetly see this amongst brand names. As it stands for now I am going to stick with what I have used and know, plain ol' ported box. let next year get here, and work pick up, then perhaps I will experiment. iputon326...........motions for him to come here and whispers< mikey has a secret!

curious about the wood you used........

new box time..... that sub / amp combo should have no problem pleasing you, it is all in the math goof-up, on their part.

nice enclosure design, have not seen to many like this, I know spl guys have their subs in and out alot, might be why i dont seee that alot....... so this is somewhat a walled grand am then, right? will the horizontal port, from the loading area, be restricted by the interior? i don't know too much on that. do you have alot of shows around you? spl soundofffs. are you wanting to compete full time? that Gary F. is probably on the right track, perhaps this will be a really sweet groundpounder

you are quick^^

man you really took a step in the right direction.....i am impressed where you are going with this. looks like it will be a sweet ride to cruise in once you are finished.

uh, the normal tunning is much higher for spl, it is not uncoomon to see 60 to 70 hz. perhaps by useing the search engine some, you can find some good reading on how to determine the frequency of your vehicle.... if someone was to attempt to help you in your goals, i beleive they will need more info from you. alot of testing will have to be done to zero you in on what works best ..... there is quite a bit to be discussed on what is your vehicle? what power do you have behind those SAZ-2000D's ? what are your spl goals? how much deadening have you done? your exact enclosure details and how it is situated in your vehicle will be important also. be prepared to answer 10 times the questions you ask.....it is sorta a science you know!? good luck
-
i like the overall box design, not sure if i am into the deadening on the box itself...... have to get back with you on that one, the gear you mentioned, the batcap, is that all the electrical upgrade? surely you got a couple of alts in there.... 8 12"s below the window line? is that like 2 cu ft per sub then? soooooooooo close to that 160 mark!!!!

this fellar right here is on to something.....^^^^^^^^^^ don't tease us, tell all of the details......every juicy little aspect

we used 6" foam couch cushions, cut to fit for the cougars fenders, and you can find a roll of peel and seal at the hardware store for 15 bucks, it will cover a decent area for cheap, the expanding foam will be at a hardware store, sometimes you can find the ol' two for five deal, just ask one of the employees where it is at..... usually it is close to the insulation area, and the peal and seal is close to roofing material.....uh, the couch was in the alley? lol, them fenders are dead though bud, went from bang bang to thud thud...! Just saying don't be afraid to improvise... -
so are you planning on the fans firing vertical? will they have obstructions placed on top at any time? i have seen some sweet installs incorporating a plexiglass top, with like 1" or so, air holes spaced across the entire surface, add a little lighting, couple of fans, you would be looking sharp. the idea of the above style is the fans will be inside the tray, faceing horizontally.....the heat has plenty of areas to rise out of there and the fans keep the air moving..... frosting the plex is sorta simple and is a easy cheat for future scratches, the combo of the lighting with the air holes and the frosted glass gives a nice look.
-
so this is like really good, but i am not sure if you know what you are doing, the box is missing the entire top! lol how many actual hours are in an enclosure of this quality?

I bought a 4 ft concrete cylinder at Lowe's I am thinking about doing some experimenting with it to see what I can get out of it. Some people call them sonotubes or something of that nature. glass that sonotube......
-
thanks bro.......... as soon as i get some cash together, ol' chop is going to do a box build!
