man i would not think so, i tried that crap with my box...... small steps in freq. don't really seem to be audible with mine. i was not being anal or picking at the feelar, please understand that... just have not came across this senario and wanted to ensure i was in the right to assume that it would still apply. so, yeah i agree, not much differance here, but i was just chaseing the math of it basicly. thanks chop

wow, i walked away too soon, this thread took off! i use the math and thought process displayed in the jl link. i just was not sure if i was in the wrong since the port does not truly end along a port wall ( like exterior wall) . i am pretty comfortable saying that the end correction factor would indeed be applied here. but once again, i am at a noob level, so i wanted to double check myself. thanks for all the input though, and the link will definetly help others out. chop

why is this under build logs? have you already purchased these dp's? i believe i stand at number 11 if i monitored the count correctly.

we gotta fire the sub forward. thats a given, we need max width for air space. we gotta have max heigth too. i used 24.25 so that you have the double baffle. can you mount the amp under the passenger seat? max security this way, remove seat to remove amp. you will have to yank the seats any way to play sub box tetris. i can get right at 6.5 cubes but does not count for displacement for sub yet. 90 sq. in. of port area. so 15 sq. in. per cube. tuned at 32.6hz. oh, and i added .5 to your depth.
-
FAIL!!!! so, like i just typed all this shit and the pc like went out for a sec.... dammit
-
i read in here somewhere you saying that the sub was going to be centered in the box? firing into the center console area?
-
right on, 25 is wonderfull!!! now you are showing love
-
is 22" right at the window line? could you creep up there a little? i am starving here, throw me a bone bro, lol
-
yeah see what you can squeeze in there.... numbers don't lie.... we gotta get you more space from somewhere. you don't want a skimpy box for that beast.
-
the 20" high, where does that put the top of the box? will you be in any comps? is 41 wide as tight as you can go?
-
you gotta give us some more space. them panels will come out easy enough without tearing them to shit. and they are easy to replace from the junkyard if you do.
-
whoa, wait a minute, it is a 18" isn't it?
-
the numbers you have posted would reflect the 41 x 16 x 20 that you are after..... the port length and width you listed would tune you at 32.77hz. and give you a volume of 4.8 cubes..... i do not know how much air space you need yet, i gotta look that up, or you can tell me.

i will look in two secs, my mouse is on fire hear, lol..... i have five windows open, plus texting chicago fan and rattlebox....

yeah, actually i am. wasn't but, yeah, why not? i can always use a little extra knowledge. i am always trying to learn some about it. i have spent that amount of cash on dinner before. the cert. may open a door somewhere for me, if not, it will proove to be just as useless as the three i have on the wall already, lol i think it would be cool. i plan on reading into some more, but if it goes along the lines of, study, test, done, sure, why not? uh, to op, you are so right, i have learned alot and seen alot from just hanging out. there is alot of guys that will school you on it, because it is a hobby. i can see hateing it. working on a dead end install, meaning one that will be trashed way too soon. but yet, i have seen shops that have that certain feel to them, ones that make me wanna try it sometimes. currently i am doing nothing, so i might as well apply myself to something.( grabing up that cert.)

ha, you beat me to it, lol....

mecp read a little bit and i can go to my community college that i graduated from and take the basic test, like 85 bucks, no prerequisites! perhaps this will help you out some. chop

i have seen some do well and some sink.... it has alot of factors in it. location? market> are two important ones off the top, how much income would you need to justify the effort? I like the idea of starting off small, see how it goes, hell, perhaps even rent out a garage with a install bay for a 6 month lease? not being a smart ass, but google search for schools in your area. there are some schools out there and it looks like they would be cool as hell to attend. I like the idea of getting some degrees that have many avenues also. also keep in mind, you might have a unique approach that might take your ass right to the top. look at that cat that runs unique auto sports, will castro, hell he started out detailing cars, how many shops are out there that does that? what was the true expectations of that shop opening up, millions, i bet not, it was all his approach. and if your ass does well, remember ol' chop encouraged you! lol. chop
