Also got the pillars somewhat done, just need more finishing touches.

Havent posted here in a while, but to say the least I am the proud new owner of the worlds loudest trailblazer. I bought it last week, with the subs still in it. I only got a Soundstream TX1.2600 running to (4) DC Level 5 18s, but will soon get (2) DC 9ks. Heres some pics of her. And a few videos so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcJIDOk-o3U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngNkofA8Skk

Damn havent updated this in a while.... Re wired it all, so I didnt have to do it again... Decided to redo the doors and do pods instead. After fixing all of the box issues and making it 20 times stronger it sounds 10 times better and cleaner, also sealed up the bottom so I dont lose any output out the back doors.

38 Hz... cabin peaks at 49-52 about the same. But it will play everything down to about 26 Hz before it rolls off. It's done a 158.7 @30Hz

I wish I could claim I did it all... but a guy named Adam Stemen out of Ohio built it all, amazing fiberglasser and box designer/ builder. He had it doing a 160+ a week after he got the truck and after that it was just tweeking and cosmetics. Im just fixing a few things that arent working out well, bracing, and painting. Its taking me a long time to do it too not being able to be home to work on it..
-
Youre welcome! The truck weighs just a hair under 6,000 lbs.. when its completely done it will be almost 7500 ish.

Heres a few throwback pics to give you guys an idea of the cage.... 200' of 1.5" graphite steel square tube

Got a few tricks up my sleeve, but dont know if it will be able to withstand 164s-165s with full power. Making an mdf roof and stripper pole closest to the roofline to see if it will stay intact. If that doesnt hold then lexan lol...

Also forgot to post the amp. lol Single 7.5k @ 1ohm..
-
Havent been on here in a while lol.... not really much for updates besides amp wise and door wise. Had major structural problems with the wall, so fixing all that crap and loading woofers back in soon. Ordering another 7.5k and 4 more d3100s to run both them at .5 ohm and see what kind of numbers it does. Then primer, paint, and clear.

From the designer himself. Yes it is true the idea came from a defibrillator. It seemed silly to me that all these guys in the db drag lanes need to have 1/2 of their vehicle full of batteries and alternators to maintain a decent B+ voltage for a few seconds. That and the fact that the amount of total energy all those batteries contain is huge and they are only using a fraction of it during their burp. It is like taking a NASCAR car to a drag race. A vehicle that is designed to go 200mph for hours on end probably isn't the best design for a 1/4 mile burst. So when you look at the way a defibrillator is used its like burping an amp. Defibrillators don't have massive power cords that need mega amps at 220V, in fact some of them are portable and run off a very small battery. Why, because they don't need to shock someone for hours at a time, just a quick burst. They just draw a small amount of power continuously during 'charge up' and once all the energy they need is accumulated they release it all at once. With the operation of the defibrillator in mind, I tried to apply it to car audio. I set off to build a prototype which was based on (2) T1500.2 output sections, I had to liquid cool the MOSFETs because even the FETs in the T1500.2's were not big enough to handle the kind of power I wanted. By keeping them very cold they could be pushed beyond their limits. (This may be the radiator ect... part of the story that someone posted). Then I needed a way to store a bunch of energy, electrolytic caps and some of the carbon based caps that are commonly used in car audio were not even close to being capable of storing the amount of energy I needed, so I used 12 small motorcycle batteries in series to get 140+ Volts. Then I built a power supply that would convert 12VDC to 140VDC to 'charge' these batteries. I got this contraption all put together the night before the Annual Rockford Fosgate Employee Sound-Off. I didn't really how much power it would make exactly, but to try to shorten this long story it ended up putting out 15,030 Watts RMS! This is how 15k Watts became the goal for a 'real' amp. The first step towards making it a 'real' amplifier was I had to eliminate the array of batteries. I began searching high and low for something that would do it. I found a company that makes capacitors for hybrid cars and large wind turbines. These worked perfectly. The caps I ended up using are 400 Farads, and there are 180 of these in the T15kW. Then I needed an intelligent power supply that could monitor these caps and add energy to them as needed, and it had to be fast, really fast if this amp was going to play music and not just a burst. So during music these caps are charging, discharging, charging, discharging. The power supply in the T15kW can charge the caps 35,000 times per second. Of course many other things had to happen like finding MOSFETs that could handle it, a way to keep it cool without antifreeze and car radiators ect. The final product met all the goals and then some. The main idea is that with this technology the amplifier can put out more power during transients or bursts than the car it's connected to could supply. -

What makes this amp unique is that is actually OVER 100% efficient, which means you dont have to have as much for electrical than a standard 15k amp, and thats due to the fact that it has 180 caps. So its pretty much its own power house, and thats why you only see 1 set of 1/0 inputs. -
Always loved the looks of Xtremes....

Double Din in 98 jimmy/blazer/bravada?
BaMF101 replied to Budah93's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
The opening for the radio is like twice the size lol. The only thing you have to mod is there is a little plastic piece that runs across the top of where the radio mounts that you have to cut out in order for a double din to fit. -
So theres no holes in the steel frame itself?

I don't think that's a pic of his car, lol if you look closely the license plate is japanese

So here is a truely touching story from us SMD members. Now I know a lot of people dont care/ dislike SMD forums in every single way so I dont want this to be a pissing match, but you have to have the heart to read this story that made the news. A member on the forums "Nine8SST" has a daughter who has cerebral palsy and she has an expensive custom made bicycle that she cannot ride because her condition has progressed so much. Long story short this blew up, nobody bought the bike, but so many people have pitched in for a new bike that would work for her, and lets just say it went so far as to pay for $1000+ bike and money for his new build. Truely touching story. Heres the link to the forum thread if you want to read more http://www.*****.com/board/topic/132375-disabled-kids-bike-special-needs-tricycle/ And here is the news story that gives the summary of the whole thing. http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Father-of-special-needs-girl-overwhelmed-by-generous-hearts-of-strangers-138446639.html?tab=video Never give up on strangers people.....

Interest in a NE, IA, MN meet in or around Okoboji/Spirit Lake
BaMF101 replied to CFAIST's topic in General Audio
That probably definitely would have been me lol, thats where I fill up, my house is right by the entrance to the boat ramp there across the bridge. Im guessing you saw my Trailblazer? haha.. you were giving a quick demo to somebody, i was in buying some beer. Mmm maybe that wasn't me, I usually don't give demos in public places, especially in front of gas stations. What color was the car? If it was a silver grand cherokee then I know that person, he has my old system lol... -

I would totally be there, just gotta figure out a date since I go to school near ames. But I agree, fort dodge area would bring in more. -
Thanks, its really hard to find to see this amount of people doing something for a person in need. x2 Never knew what to expect, Ive seen my fair share of anti SMD members here lmao. Had to share it anyways since I knew someone would appreciate it Aint that the truth... like I said, its hard to find a bunch of random people giving out lots of money for something like this.
