correct but the 6.5 mli's will if you run those off the amps for mid bass but then you got to pay a ton for tweets which maybe big problem if you know what i mean or is it not ??? this is were i settled on a smaller system. for my daily driver most of all if your not going to compete. like me why go for mega watts when you do not need it most of all if your not going to compete. just a suggestion would like to see you do what you want and get your dream system set up. any ways best of luck on the install and do not forget to comb ebay for good tweets you may find those 400 dollar ones for 100 each.

Subwoofer Setting on HU?
sadistic replied to pear_b's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i would just leave it there at -10 it's like a sub woofer level control if it sounds good there. amp should be set so it not clipping if it gain controlled any ways. your sending the sub into clipping the higher you turn it you more then likely got the amp set on a number like 5 volts for the hu output. and that as high as it will go on that type of setting. -
completely right i am trying to get across that sound system should be correct in all aspects. like a lot of the idiots that think bass is all you need and should be louder then the rest etc etc ... when it should not be should be a reinforcing punch to the music . ahhh what... umm hear read this over quickly... just the first section on interference... (pulled this off a quick google search, but it get the point across) LINK ...if u dont understand, its basicly saying that running multiple speakers producing the same sound is a no no... correct!! i would hate to say this but why not run them off the cd player the component set? it how i got mine set up right now. this is the problem i have with amping the mid's / highs you can not find the good one's for cheap. that can handle power. the only reason i do not sit here and say this is the best tweet go with these is i had about 5-6 different component sets before i liked what i have now. some from woofersetc.com that look like i bought at full priced opened boxed i was not even going to deal with the hassle of retuning 70 bucks to cost me more. which is total bs should be right the first time. btw i hear polk sr's are good speakers from some people on the web most of all the 6500 series they got silk tweets etc etc.. right now i am running cadence z series 5.25's they got silk tweets too i paid 60 bucks shipped free for mine from the cadence store on e bay and own two set of them any ways i have heard and seen good about cdt components sets. if you see what i said earlier i have had to go threw crap because of not liking what i had. you could run a set of good 8's of the other amps and use them to reinforce the mid bass in between the 12's. but not saying you need all subs they do sell 6.5 that are used as subs this is why i was thinking 8's or 6.5's it how i mite run my set up. this is so i can run the second and third amp so it not a one amp install.

ya there expensive but well worth it this is what will make or break your system in a sq comp 100% daily I don't have the time or money to have 2 comp vehicles I will have 1 s10 blazer with 4 shocker sigs and around 20,000 watts to do comps with what about these would make aiming alot easier http://www.woofersetc.com/p4996/NX30--Imag...ount-socket.htm ya those would work too but like i said i have hear bad about them and good about them i just do a little checking

here are some from sonic electronix to me the selection is not that great i should put this in big red print. to make sure you read it I think these are 130 but cheek the speck at the manufacture web site kenwood-usa.com or kenwoodusa.com any ways 2 set in a series parallel configure will work . http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6938_K...d+KFC-T207.html I know people are going to say these are junk but you got to have choices if you buy them it a series parallel configure at 4 ohms http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11519_Kicker+08KS25.html \ here is another series parallel so you need two http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_2879_R...+Power+T1T.html another series parallel configure to bad there metal dome tweet most of them http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12054_...KFC-XT15ie.html

here are some from woofers i am sure sonic has some to along with every one else These you could buy two sets and run series parallel at 4 ohms http://www.woofersetc.com/p7042/CAL-25-SIL...t;-Tweeters.htm this one s sold individually so you would have to buy two at $189x2=almost400 don't know were your price break is http://www.woofersetc.com/p4964/KT825--Zap...ome-Tweeter.htm same with these series parallel just remember what I said about aluminum earlier I have heard i.d. is not that good but every one is a critic. The harshness can be cut back by a eq too http://www.woofersetc.com/p6574/D3TAK--Dia...r-Addon-Kit.htm

those were designed for home theater use but i am sure they will work in a car audio situation. but as always i suggest the right item for the right item use. any ways look around and see what you can find because i seen a lot of different brand tweet at woofers mite want to click on tweeters on the left tool bar on woofers web site and search there tweets. me personally i prefer silk tweets the metal tweets like aluminum and titanium just sound to much like a metal symbol and are to harsh. same with mylar domes. any ways looks like a awesome build.

i am still trying to figure out the tweet amp you got to much power for the tweets i think even if you adjust the gain way down. this is the only problem i have with active set ups. oh btw i would add this eq or better for fine tuning the set up. http://www.woofersetc.com/p1265/EQX--Audio...r-Crossover.htm i could see these tweets run off a amp in parallel they can handle some wattage http://www.woofersetc.com/p4789/Supremo-Pi...ed-Tweeters.htm

Setting Crossover points on an HU.
sadistic replied to T0mmysee's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
So setting it using both the HU and amp in a bandpass, sets the crossover inbetween the area of the high pass and low pass point? quote 1] example: if you could set them at 100hz high pass and 100hz low pass for the hu then x over the amps were they are needed like 160 high pass amps then 80 hertz low pass amps . i think they would sound good quote #2 the Grey area in the 75hz high pass and 500 hz low pass will cut all the area out And make it sound crappy at least it did on my alpine. and a lot of other head unit i have had quote #3 bass does kill speakers. but this depends on if your speaker like it or not some thing like a mli 6.5 from march five audio will like bass, but a cheap pioneer coax will not. for quote #1 i do not suggest the radio i suggested but i do suggest you get a eq sooner or later this way you can cut back on the frequency's you do not like in other words your speakers do not like. because 20K may seem a tad harsh were also the bass may need some deadening at the low end so it does not harm you mid's /highs. -
here is the one i use it's below this. i find winisd the free down load the cut lengths are off and come out wrong. but it is a good graphical description on what the box is doing and how the sub behaves. not sure of the box calculator on this site never used it. what you got to do to get four port is divide the box into 4 section like a 1 cuft would be .25 cuft .l to get the right air space for the port. any ways here is the clac and how to use it glad i got this in word already. http://www.ecalc.com/calculator/scientific/ use this calculator at link above square root key look like a check with a x inside powers of ten key looks like a y to the power of x av =10 lv=30 vb=864 do the this part first av(1.84x10to the power of key looks like y sub x when the calculator does the y to the power of x key it will put some thing that looks like a up side down carrot hit 8 then the equal sign. Then write the answer to all of the above down Next do vb(lv+.823then hit the square root key put in av then write the answer down Take the first answer and divided buy the second one Then take and put in to the calculator .159 square root of the answer of the two this should equal 40.63716007346 hertz for the fb Just remember you can plug any thing you want into av or lv or vb that the plug part Av =a 2 inch by 10 inch wxh or area of vent Lv = length of vent Vb = volume of box just try to keep the area of the vent less then a 9 :1 just divide like a 10 by 5 inch port in to this 5/5 and how many section of ten you get and 10 /10 and how many section of 5 you get this would equal 1x10inch and one 1x5 inch the 1x5 would pass but the 10x1 would not it to big here are some other formulas pie times radius squared radius is half of a circle and this trans forms a round to a square vent real quickly square root of “a” squared + “b” squared hypotenuse of a triangle and how to find it in inches Length x width x height Divide lxwxh by 1728 to get cubic feet or even multiply to get cubic inches Here is were the formula comes from http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=165

Setting Crossover points on an HU.
sadistic replied to T0mmysee's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
you want to set the x over point's higher then what the amp's is to be set at. if the x over is set wrong like the sound will be muddy if it's too narrow. this way they receive the full signal of what it need. btw that not a low end jvc. -
Setting Crossover points on an HU.
sadistic replied to T0mmysee's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
the best cd player i have found thus far is the jvc kd-hdr59 sold at crutchfield for 179.99 the only difference between the 50 and the 59 is higher output pre's on the 59 of 5.0 v and a 2 year warranty on the 59. the thing that i like about the 50 series i got is the eq it has a 7 band eq to get you set up and quick. and a lp x over for the sub the eq will work on the front channel only. wile the lp will work on the sub. i think you need separate rca for the tweets the mids and the bass i think you could x-over at the right frequency and just use a "y" adapter for the other two channels so one set be comes four rca's this way you can run the correct amount of amps for the active set up. this head unit also can be set flat so you can add a eq on after words. -
think he mite need one of these????? http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-Eso34-Ground...cp_ob_e_title_1

what do you think of one of these i think the march 5 is the best one you could get but the alpine i suggest would not be bad either http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/3352 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/p...252d12.2.2.html

Kenwood 1000W class D
sadistic replied to Estsound's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
not really bats and alts are for huge systems drawling tons of amps.it will help with the light dimming though if you got a alt. if you did not know the cap will pull from you battery when playing music so if your alt is off engine off your hurting your self by using a cap. this is why they suggest bats but still bats will only discharge so far before they need charging again. a cap is worst caps will charge and discharge power constantly. to help out on those notes power is dimming but if your competing and your engine is off you hurting your score. if it for your daily driver to help the dimming a bit maybe a cap will help if it low amp drawl truthfully it not helping because it puts more strain on the system. -

sadistic replied to jcarter1885's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
ditto because: i guessing your running a huge amp drawl. a 300 amp drawl will not keep up with the system even if you do it with a 200 amp alt. -

oh btw- by the way crutchfield has clarion in a 1500 for $300w and a 850w for $200 i know amp good one go buy model numbers the ones and crutchfield may not be zeff made or maybe just filling you in to check in to it. just found out it is the apx not the dpx that crutchfield carry but still good amps. the apx were zeff made -

ditto the fist plus and fist minus on mine are for subs it was the loudest channel on that amp. same way can't bridge and i think the alpines are 4 ohm so in parallel you will have 2 ohms if you have a problem wiring check out rockfordfosgate.com and find there woofer wiring wizard. any ways good luck.... -

i appreciate you to the fullest because i been looking for alternators for a long time, if i were to get a 200 amp alernator will i also have to get a secondary battery or will i be fine with the h/o alternator and a good starting battery(xs power d5100, odyssey or deka battery) depend on the system drawl in amps if the original is 105 then your only going to have about 100 to 95 amps to play with of extra power if your running some kind of crazy spl system with 10,000 watts bats are what should be used. then use the alt for charging them like every one says it's better to use bats not caps. caps = crap you maybe able to get away with a 140 -150 amp drawl on the system from a amp but your better off using bats and a alt and isolator to charge them. -
what about a pair of orphan 8's from ssa there made buy sound splinter. i would get a good component set to go with as usual . i hear there as good as the ignite series from Aaron. was thinking of doing a sq system with those. any ways good luck Aaron has lots of choices that are awesome like d cons. etc...

did you just buy that kenwood? if so have you figure out the connection for the speakers yet ? kinda baffled me at first. because it goes in pair of plus and minuses if you read your manual one is marked sub the other is is for two subs of 2 ohms load each can't hook a one ohm load to a plus and a minus pin. btw another good amp on the cheap side is those sony 9001gtr i like the ones with the blue window the best, very powerful for there price. it's also a great deal on those clarion amps i showed earlier i seen those sonny on amazon for $139.99 there is not much else besides those two or three. all the rest are p.o.s. like power acoustic etc... -

don't know if you can find power master or not. but i think these are better with there life time warranty's. any ways the biggest they got is a 200 amp for the ion it will cost like $450. any ways i got the 200 amp version in my Taurus and a 170 in my truck. the stock alt on the taurus is 130 amp. i just manage to dim the light slightly with my fostgate t - 600-2. now i am wishing i bought the 250 amp lol's . here the link to the ion alt. and i am running a red top and want to up grade to a kinetic in the back . http://www.motorcityreman.com/ion.html
