Lights dimming help
ingramk03 replied to rak_24540's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
check the DC power section on here. Second on the DC Power , hell my lights dim sometimes and I have 8 batteries and 2 DC Power 270XP alts and not dropping below 14 volts........sometimes you just gotta live with it. -
Well, I finally got around to getting some meter time since there is a local USACi show approaching next weekend. I had never gotten around to testing the new Nightshade v.2's ever since I bought them....I just pulled the Z's out the box and put the Shades in. Before, with the Z's, my best was a 154.9 at 47 Hz I did back in July at Scrapin' the Coast. I've had one show since then and pulled a 154.7 with the Nightshades at the same frequency with a bad windshield. Yesterday after sweeping, I was expecting to see a pretty similar peak frequency when the Z's were in there (approx. 47 Hz)......not the case. I was VERY surprised to see that my new peak is now at 34 Hz! This is with no box mods, amp swaps, new electrical, nothing. After multiple burps from 30 to 50 Hz, changing meter positions, seat postions, etc, my best was a 154.7 at 34 Hz! After at least a dozen burps electrical still holding at 14.8, subs and amp still cool to the touch. Still got a little testing to do, but I'm pleased with the score......especially in the mid-30's !

Thank you Sir........not loud enough though......fixing to rip everything out and start again!

Randal---> I'll definitely be a Scrapin' again, this time i'll make some time to listen to your's. Drew---> I'm in Mod 1001-2000, Damn 161.5 in Bret's...gotta be on burp, I need to get in touch with him!

Yep, just bought 4 Kinetik 2400's yesterday, brings my total to 8 batteries not counting one under the hood. I am probably going to get 2 more 4kw's when I get a new battery box built and all batts relocated to the bed so it'll give me more room in the cab.
-
Power = 2 Memphis 4kw's Yes I run USACi, I ended up this past season tied with a buddy of mine for top points in the state in SPL and an invite to world finals, but didn't go (would have finished 4th, maybe 3rd). I run every show I can, there are not many USACi shows in Alabama, most are west of here. I did go to Scrapin' this year and will make that a yearly thing. This season I plan on running more MECA shows and will be going to Daytona in February.

Dome light has been taken down and fixed multiple times, rear view mirror has been out......can't see out the back anyway! Old vid from August..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuAZLsGR3Pg

Yep, pulled my headunit out this week and found that two metal mounting tabs have been broken off where it holds unit to the dash and my LC-1 knob soldered connections were coming off the board, but all has been fixed.......at least for now.

Just doin' some demoing after a USACi show last month at our shop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuAZLsGR3Pg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ip7UXd3A3A

He was asked at what frequency was the score... That's right, burp at 47hz, box is tuned to about 37hz......or was when I had the Zv.1's in there. I haven't done any box mods since I got the NSv.2's, besides building some motor structure supports for them....need to re-sweep and see if my frequency has changed, I'm sure it has. My new problem is keeping the detachable face on the headunit attached....damn thing keeps disconnecting itself on certain notes!
-
I'm not saying that's the cause, it's just something to check with a different ground, but since you have the whine in only one speaker, try this, do you have another speaker laying around? If so, try hooking it up using the leads from the new hu on the speaker where u have the noise.
-
Only on one speaker....hmmm.... are you using the factory ground for the gmos and the aswc?
-
Now that's what I'm talking about! Don't replace that headunit yet......If it's just bad RCA's that's an easy fix, I've heard of some good sounding setups with just a LOC and the factory deck.
-
Oh...Ok....well good luck with it tomorrow, let us know how it turns out.
-
I ran the line Saturday morning, and then left for the day. I came back on Sunday and was demoing at the main entrance of the coliseum beside the Scion with the wall of 10's.
-
Tomorrow?.........What's wrong today? Run to Walmart and get that cable, and test that biotch, you might not feel like messin with it tomorrow. LOL
-
This is a picture of the cable you will need to test with: My link
-
If you're using the ipod to test your sub amp, then yes, only your sub will play. Hook up the ipod to the amp with the cable I described, turn your factory radio on (volume all the way down, we're not testing factory speakers) so your sub amp will come on, and use volume knob on your ipod to see if output of sub changes. If it sounds noticably louder/better, then you have a bad/miswired LOC or bad RCAS.
-
Unplug the RCA's from the amp, use a 3.5mm to RCA plug (Walmart,Radio Shack, etc) to plug mp3 player or ipod to amp. This will be your new signal path, bypassing your factory radio and RCAs, if you still have the same problem after testing this, your problem lies in speaker wiring or amp problem.
-
Have you tried a different input signal to the amp, say an ipod or mp3 player straight to the amp?

Infinitelybaffled---> 47 hz What up bassahaulic, I remember you too:gayhaaay1: , that shaggin wagon still tearin' it up? I don't mind the thread jack......Bret does have one helluva f150!
-
Did a 154.7 with week old subs and separated windshield. I did a 154.9 at Scrapin' the Coast back in July on the Z V.1's.
-
Yea....she was workin that day, subs had only been in about a week when this vid was shot. Tryin to break'em in.

Why DC Power Engineering vs the competition
ingramk03 replied to DC Power Kyle's topic in DC Power Engineering
Absolutely LOVE my Dual 270 XP setup! I get nothing but compliments on them. I'll never run anything but DC Power again! BTW, hey Kyle, send me some stickers......Dave never sent me any.
