Ok well I got my SSA XCON 12's awhile ago, and my SAZ-1500 D sundown audio amps. I waited a while to hook it all up to get everything I needed for the install. I installed them today, took me about 6 hours cause i wanted to make sure everything was perfect, and the way it was suppose to be. Well obviously I did something wrong because I ran into some problems. I would like some help to find out what I did wrong if anything, or if I just have shitty luck. I hooked it all up, I was liking the sound. Later on during the experience through the day I noticed they weren't hitting as hard as they were at first. Here and there i'd smell something like plastic burning. I sealed the subs in the box with silicone just to make a better seal, etc. I dunno if anyone would not recommend not doing it or recommend it, but that's what I decided to do. I fused everything, like everything. To keep fire hazards out of the question. Sense I have two SAZ-1500 D's I strapped them together (piggy backed, jumped, ive heard it called many things.) I believe I did this the right way but I may be wrong. That's why I am here. Once I smelled the whatever it was burning, which was the silicone, which i'll get to how in a minute. I unscrewed my subs and looked inside to see if everything was ok. Well no fire good lmao, nothing bad, but the sub magnets where very hot. I couldn't even like leave my hand on them for a second. I don't know if this is normal for these subs but i've never had a pair of subs get that hot. But the thing is only one was, and the other one was warm but not hot. Same with the amps, the one that was hooked up to the sub that was very hot was also very hot the other was not. So basically one amp and sub that were hooked together were hot and the other sub and amp were just warm. The way I Piggy backed, strapped, whatever was I ran a set of RCA's from the head unit to the back of the car plugged into the main amp, then plugged in another set of RCA's from the main amp to the other, where i'm from that's how I was taught, if there is better way or a way i am suppose to do with these subs PLEASE inform me. Here are some pictures to give you an idea. Note: the red wire on the ground of the kinetic battery is for a ground i just ran out of ground wire. and the only color i could get was red.

yeah but only for the first 1/8 of an inch Usually not a good sign, im assuming only one does it right? Yeah actually, that's weird didn't notice that, and I just noticed another thing when I turned down my volume to like 1 that only that one plays music but it sounds all weird like distorted? but that sub has always sounded like that the rubbing noise that is. Because I brought it up with mark on the phone when i got them. he said a little bit is normal so i didn't think anything of it but i brought it up on here again to make sure kind've thing. What is it a bad sign of? Because I'm going to be pretty upset if it's a breaking kind of thing cause yeah I just will be I didn't pay this amount of money to have that happen. I mean I know I wired it wrong at first but I shut it off for a reason, so I wouldn't damage the subs, and the rubbing noise is no worse then it was when I first got them.

yeah but only for the first 1/8 of an inch

Thanks lol glad to be a part of it lmao. Because only thing bad about this is i can use my rear view mirror when they're on lmao, because it's just going everywhere, and the top of my car flexs a little bit like that C300 lmfao

ok im just switching the black witht he silver on my amps correct? yupper ok well i plugged the RCA's the way they're suppose to be, i had the amps tuned, everything is in working order, everything is wired the way you said it to be, and IT SOUNDS OBSOLUTELY DIVINE lol, WAYYY better then what it was the first time. But I still smell that smell I described early. So I took out the subs, took them back up to the store my buddy works at he looked at them said nothing seemed to be wrong with them that they could tell, and that I should ask you why the sub makes a scratching noise when it's pushed in the center. But the way they worded it was like this basically word for word "I can honestly say there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with them they sound great the amps are tuned fine, etc. but you should ask why the subs make this scratching noise when there pushed in the center. There not blown or anything that I can tell, but you should still ask." So I'm asking lol, it only makes the sound like the first 1/8 of an inch of pushing it down, but after that it doesn't make the sound at all, would you say there's nothing to worry about or what? You want me to send them back to you so you can check them out, because I know I didn't blow them cause when even when I had everything wired up wrong I didn't have them on long at all no more then 5 - 10 mins. Also my amps are still getting hot as hell, probably has something to do with that I have a black car and there's really no breathing room, but I'm just giving you a full check up on how things went, cause I went up to the store, told the guy what I needed and how they were suppose to be hooked up etc, and he knew what was being talked about. So what do you think Mark?

ok im just switching the black witht he silver on my amps correct? yupper alright, after i do that I'll be all good with the wiring for the subs as long as i wire the subs like i have in that picture? and you said about the RCA's that all i have to do is just use 2 out of the 4 with the short RCA set and plug one in the bottom right on the slave and one on the top right on the master? and after all this I can mount the subs and turn it on and have everything correct? If so I'll do it all up and take pictures and get the OK so i can make sure then I'll mount them and let you know how they are after i tune them, I'm guessing since i had these setup wrong, once i have them set up right and tuned right there probably gonna pound a lot harder then what they did the first time?

ok im just switching the black witht he silver on my amps correct?
-
so im switching the wires on the subs or the amps?
-
i have no idea what i'd even be looking for man lmao.

So i figured just to double check, i have two setups, which one is the right one? this one has the wires criss crossed, one wire from each terminal going to a sub. theres ones have a terminal to each sub, i mean by that like two wires from one terminal are going to a sub. which one is right? or are they both wrong? and if one is right, is there anything I should be double checking before I turn this system back on? becasue I don't know if it my over thinking mind but I was thinking, in the picture below, since the master amp which is the right one, is positive does that make my silver wire my positive? and my black my negative since it's on the slave amp? Like I said I am probably over thinking it but I'd rather be safe then sorry.

lol yeah been raining here off and on, mostly on since like 8amish lol. But whatever going to be nice tomorrow supposedly , better be lol, i got a tigers game to go to and get seen on TV lmao. My dad has ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease, so there throwing this thing at the game for ALS patients, and my dad, my mom and i get to go on the field and shit or some garbage and there supposedly announcing our names since my dad is like the worst patient, meaning he's progression is more then anyone's in Michigan. I didn't get the full detail by my mom on about the game shit though. But take a look out if anyone is watching the game for me. Name is Matt Chalmers, I dunno how they'll be introducing us alls I know is there suppose to say our names or some garbage lmao.

gotcha, lol it was the simple way that I thought and I was like the rest of this was a pain it can't be that easy, but i was wrong lol. Alright well Thanks a bunch i'll upload pictures of everything before i turn it on to get the ok, and just wanted to let anyone who is reading this know, lmao my street is flooded well everyones are and I went walking around, it was up to my ass... and up to most doorways lmao.

ok I got everthing you said but he last part threw me off. because if there suppose to criss cross then I should have it right. I have a wire from each terminal going to one of the sub terminals. now if im suppose to take both wires from one terminal to a single sub then I understand where im wrong. but the criss crossing threw me off cause the way I have them they are criss crossing. and if there not to you then maybe I just have them in the wrong way? cause I followed the diagram I have the negative terminal wire to the sub negitives and the positive terminal wire to the positive sub terminals. so where am I going wrong im all confused up now. I know im probably gonna hate myself cause this is probably so simple its stupid, but excuse the inconvience of my understanding lol. im sorry that I am, but I o appreciate the help.
-
this is what i was talking about like crossing the wiring to the subs from the terminals, is this right or wrong?
-
i didnt wire the other side i was wiring this like this to see if i had the right idea, that's why I have the picture going to the back of the sub showing where the wires were coming from. like do i wire it like that for the other side as well? or do i take one wire from each terminal to each sub?
-
so is this right? or do i need to criss cross the wiring between the two terminals to the subs??
-
wait i think i get what you mean. i'll wire it up and take some pics and see if im right. lol i hope i never have to do this again, lmao.
-
so just wire it normally? lol i am thinking it more then what it is, but lol. I still don't get it haha.
-
so just wire red to red black to black? arent the wires going to the terminals like all negative and all positive? Now I am confused lmao, like to i take one from each terminal to each sub? or do i take both for each terminal to each sub?
-
ok here's the subs, ok now i labeled positice and negative here because of the amps, + is obviously the master and - is the slave. Heres were my confusion was Mark, and if what I am thinking is correct I should've done this whole setup myself, because I would've never had any problems in the beginning but instead I had matt help. But Do I take the two wires from the positive terminal, which is the master amp and put the two wires coming from that terminal into the remaining two positive terminals on the subs? Vise versa for the Negative terminals from the slave amp? lol excuse the silicone extras, i still have to clean it off.
-
Ok here is the amp wiring, note i'll be replacing the wiring with 8 where the 8 gauge is needed, this is just to see if i am doing this right.
-
yes but i have a question for you mark, the RCA wires in your picture, im confused how would i set mine up considering there different? because I have a main set of RCA's running from the head unit then a sec pair, so which wires would i use and which ones would i not, if you look in my pictures you should understand what i am talking about. Note: when I say which ones shouldn't I use I am talking about the Second pair. Because in that picture, it shows only one plugged into the main and and one into the slave amp, since i have four input on the second and not the fancy one that you have in the picture lol, which ones should i not use does it matte? Im guessing not, but I wanna make sure. another note, can i use regular speaker wire in place of the 8 guage wire or should i go buy some? lol
-
thanks i'll look into it before i put the subs back into the box and everything. yeah i thought of that afterwards.
