Well Im heading on a road trip this coming Tuesday to Conway, Arkansas. Im riding with my stepfather to sell his truck to a friend and then we will fly back. Plan on heading out CA99 to Bakersfield then 40 all the way over for a straight shot. So that route will take us through Flagstaff, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Amarillo, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; just short of Little Rock, Arkansas. About 2000 miles give or take a few. Probably take about 2.5 to 3 days to get there. Cant wait to "get on the road again". Just lookin for some points of interest that you southerners might know of. Stuff like good truck stops, diners, hotels, wierd gas stations, or the worlds largest ball of twine! You know, shit like that. Ive never been east on the road like this. Only a plane trip out to Fort Benning, Georgia to watch my bro graduate from basic training. Which I will say was one of the best trips of my life. I have to say I love the people and their really cool attitudes which is nothing like us Cali aholes. I just love to see the world and the different people in it. So if you guys have spots we should check out, feel free to share.

two 18 inch fi btl subs
bigrank916 replied to AustinMarak's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Good one.lol But seriously...research man. Be like nike and just do it. Those questions sound foolish. You should research a lot more messing with those. -
I dont know how it will sound with a convertible but I would think you will lose a lot of sound. Why would he want the system to slam hella hard but not want ported enclosures? That sounds like a lot of shit to go in a trunk also. I think you can pound with a lot less. 2k-5k watts and a couple of 18's would slump pretty good in the right circumstances. But if you love to build and he loves to spend...get out the grinder and start stuffin.

Here is a few pics of the trip. God that ride sucks but the scenery is nice...sometimes. http://s694.photobucket.com/albums/vv302/bigrank916/ark%20trip/

Check all wiring to make sure nothing has come loose. When you get done doing that, do it again. Never hurts to check more than once. -
That looks like a lot of fun. Cant wait to see more of this.

I am waiting for a 50.4 to power my comp set. I hope I will not have those heating problems. Hopefully not but I did have mine in a pretty tight ass spot. Im sure it just didnt have enough room to dissipate the heat well enough. I'll find out for sure on my commute back home on Friday. The amp still heated up on the way back but never shut off though. I have a 125.2 right next to it that felt fine. Try it on tweeters is my next step for it I guess.

I have an SAX50.4 bridged to a dual 4ohm sub. Tuesday at the end of my 3 hour commute the amp shut off. I thought I fried the speaker but 10 min after the amp shut off, it worked again. I had already stopped when I turned the stereo on again and the amp was hot to the touch. This is the same thing that happened with another small amp that I had but it was 2 channel bridged. Except it shut off after about 30-45 min. I have an SAX125.2 running two 6x9s right next to the 50.4 and it hasnt ever shut off since Ive had it. Doesnt get hot either. They are both screwed to a seperate piece of 3/4 mdf behind the back seat agaisnt the side of the box. Ive also had 2 other amps in the place of the 50.4 which never shut off either. They were both monoblocks over 1000rms. Why do these multichannel amps get hot and shut off running the same sub but not the monoblocks? My other thread is "amp cuts out".

I got you on that. I missed my buddies league and thought all was lost. Finally a live draft too! I'm in it to win it.

Well that would be nice but ole paps doesn't want to drive back and we have already bought our plane tickets as well. I would like to but it would probably cost more money and we are being paid to drive there. Thanks for the offer though, I always like to rub elbows with fellow car audio enthusiast.

i think u got it back ward,i thought if i get a 4dual ohm sub it will run at 2ohm and single 4 ohm run at 4ohm?? i'm so confuse. A dual 4 will run at 2 ohm by itself but 2 single 4 ohm drivers together will run at 2 ohm. Thats what he is saying.

Build log for 1996 Chevy Lumina- The Blue Fury

Damn I need your skills with the glass! That 3 way setup looks sick. Nicely done bro. -
840 is enough for the Q. They are rated at 1000rms I believe. You should tell us what kind of car you have. Thats always helpful to know what will fit in your trunk.

I hope Arnold remembered to include the use of steroid to the workout plan! Yes Arnold did roids. Just like every other bodybuilder does competing for Mr. Olympia. You can't get that big without em. There is a lot of people that use roids and will never come close to looking like Arnold. It's the workout that still matters most.

Very good book. Too expensive for me so I sat and read in the bookstore.lol. Arnold my or may not be a good gov but he knows how to work out properly and get the most gains possible from the least time in the gym. If you are looking for physique and not functional strentgh like in sports then this book is for you. For physique I will always take the advice of a 3 (or 4 I cant remember) time Mr. Olympia. And yes the gazillion speedo pics suck but kinda hard to show def in the legs in boardshorts!haha. Why not buy it online? It only costed me 14 new. That was a very long time ago and it was borders so go figure.

Sounds too good to be true.
