When I got a quote from ohio, some guy was going off too about other companies and asking me if the other companies Im looking at give bench tested power specs. He was a little odd but ohio too much for me. Something like $475. I got mine on sale from mechman earlier in the summer for $300. You got a good price for the alt from DC Power. Id go with that one too.

Rockford Fosgate, The Punch Classic, 10"

In order to cut down on wood to save on costs, I would start with a sealed box. Probably about 1.25-1.5cuft. If you dont like that, you can cut out a hole for a pvc port and tune it to what sounds best to you. The specs say to tune at 40hz and above. -
I guess it depends on how it was applied. Was it stapled on? Or was it glued on, by say like 3M 77 super adhesive? If its the latter, Id say its going to be a bitch. It will most likely leave a layer on the enclosure so you might have to sand it off.

Help with chosing a system, been a while since ive been into systems
bigrank916 replied to daledealedaledeal's topic in General Audio
i expect many of these things to be expensive, all systems ive had up to this point were cheap (trying to look cool) systems, so i plan on putting around 1500 but not more then 2k into this system. i have aftermarket door speakers and i have 6x9s that i wanna take out of my old car to put in this Well $2k for 2k rms is gonna be tight. Will you be building the enclosure yourself. I know shops always want way too much. You will save a lot that way. thats where i was going to have to put some thought into, i have an ok box already from my bros old system. im a pretty good carpenter so i could build my own, i just kind of dont feel like it. i wouldnt go to a shop for an encloser tho. im just interested in the wiring, sub, amp, and alt/+ battery. You should feel like it. These drivers deserve their own boxes. Whats the dimensions of the old enclosure you have already? -

Ive heard these are excellent in small enclosures. SS RLi10 The 8s fit the enclosure space you are looking for a little better though.

Welcome and glad you could join us , as long as the install and enclosure is right then the setup will slam and sound good regardless the equipment usually. Dont get a capacitor, you will need to get a good sized secondary battery, an HO Alternator and do the Big 3 for starters. If you want two BL's then either amp that does 2000 watts or 3000watts at 1 ohm will do fine, just make sure you order your subs to D1 ohm so they can be wired down to a final 1 ohm load. So what am i going to be looking at if im going to be buying a new battery and alternator. Also what is the big 3? and how do i put in another alternator, im pretty mechanically inclined and i kno about an alternator but i dont kno much about putting another one in. thanks You mean how much for all that? The alt you have to get a quote on because they arent all the same price per vehicle. They are generally easy to change also. Batteries can be as cheap as $100-200 depending on size. The big 3 is adding larger wire than stock to important places. Alt pos to batt pos. Alt ground to chassis. Battery neg to chassis. You will want to use 1/0 wire. -
Nice factory grounds. Thats bull. Ya, I want to start deadening the geo soon. Gotta get some more damplifier light!
-
Is this one of the 2 used 18" BTLs you were scramblin to pick up in one day? That sucks.
-
Is it me or has Jack become really cheap lately?

It's True Though, I Hate Maxxsonics. Hell, I've Got An Old Crunch PZI-1000.1 I'll Give Away For Just The Shipping Price If Anyone Wants It, Otherwise I'll Burn It. I know what you mean. My crunch 1500.1 sounded terrible but i traded it in to Jacob! I got rid of a bunch on that program! But how much is shipping to 95678? I have a BXI now and it has been ok. Nothing like the 1500.1 though. It was horrid.
-
I dont know but I will give you a bump to get some more eyes on it.
-
At least. He will have to refigure that box totally to get the right tuning and such. Its also more work making two ports.
-
Ok. So you are lookin at a 2k rms amp, right? If you would like we can help you find an amp but you havent given a budget for it. You said "Budget is for the one that will work the best. That is the clearest and will be able to crank up at times and not have to worry" and that is all.
-
Thats why I quoted the BTL specs. You never mentioned the BLs. Why would you think its a waste? Just curious. 6.7" compared to 7.2" mounting depth. Thats a tight fit if you are looking to pick up that amount of space. The volume difference is only about .5cuft also.
-
why to run double the reccommended power to these subs? Its not double. You said two, right? 2k rms each.
-
Like I thought, there isnt a budget huh? We really like these kinds of builds. If it was me, I would go all out with a h/o alt, big 3 in 1/0, 4k+ rms amp, several runs of 1/0, etc. How nice are you looking to go?
-
Im not sure how much of a difference it is. What is your budget for the amp?
-
So you are the guy that bought up all the X series drivers! lol. You can cancel, Im sure they wont mind.
-
What kind of Hifonics amp? Btw, plexi is expensive but for some reason I dont think you care about that.
-
Im really pissed that I couldnt get some of those X series drivers that were on special for $65 a pop. I was going to buy four and the price dropped to $55. So it would have been about $265 for four 12" Fi X series drivers shipped to my door. I spent too much money on BF and by the time I was going to spend some more, they were gone! DAMN!!! I absolutely love my BTL!!!
-
I cant believe nobody asked but how much room is in that hatch? You will need at the bare minimum 3.5ft3 for two 12" BTLs. More like 6ft3 for an optimum size at rms power. I would also ask the same questions about power upgrades, amps, etc. X2 on the front stage upgrades.
