Welcome dude.

Allright. Its a little long but I classed it up so bear with me. I have been pouring over the site with the search function and the net for glassing and all to do with it. I found some pretty informative info here and especially one tutorial that peaked my interest. FG for newbies . All my questions were pretty much answered except for a couple of things: 1) What are the options for sending the speaker wire out of the back of your newly sealed, glassed enclosure? 2) Since I am really wanting to glass some door pods, is deadening my doors still a good idea? 2a) If deadening is still a key element, should my pods be open in the back? Ive seen pics of door pods with holes in the back. Big Daves Truck Project . This looks to make much more sense with deadening and the way i think i should go. 3) How do secure my door pods to my door panel? Behind the carpet on the door panel is a plwood base to fasten to if needed. 4) Should I use a special FG mask when applying resin or sanding? I know when glassing the fumes can be very toxic. Some people say to use a mask and others dont even mention it at all. 5) Should I use a mold releasing agent? Some do, some dont. It looks like a good idea to me. Maybe like WD-40 on wax paper? Im uber juiced to get this rolling as the MLI-65s have been sitting waaaay too long. One more thing I wanted to go over is my second shopping list. So far I bought 1 gal of resin with exta hardener. One package of mat. A couple brushes, measuring/mixing cups, and some sand paper. The rest of the list as follows: hot glue gun with extra sticks wooden roller-have no idea where to get one besides secondskin fleece or some sort of stretchy fabric acetone FG mask-question #4 more measuring/mixing cups aluminum foil or wax paper blue painters masking tape mixing sticks from the paint counter 3/8" wooden dowels Dremel tool WD-40 or another MRA Anything I might have missed?

Any updates on this? Im very interested as I will be starting this very soon on mine. Not sure if I want to cut off the pocket though.
-
Sorry. Reread the topic and figured out you wanted a recone for black fi day.
-
Dude named B-Rich just got his in so you shouldnt be too far behind. Id say you will get them before xmas.

Actually, I'll be installing them in a truck very similar to yours. 1990 GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab without the back seat. You can just imagine it's your vehicle if you want . Thats cold man. So cold...

are these specs bullpoop or what? ax 5600g 5 channel
bigrank916 replied to gentlejax's topic in US AMPS
I dont see why not. US Amps are sold in the SSA shop and I havent heard any bad things about them. I think the rms wattage is at 14.4 volts though. -
It seems you are in love with the look as much as the system or maybe a little more? Great lookin ride dude.

Thats a sweet starting point. Sounds like a solid foundation. Good luck!

The head and the main look like my old collie. What a nice thing to do.

Another "Which Battery for my ride" thread

For the price, this is hard to beat. I just dont know if its too big for your install. Deka 9A31 -
Thats nice to say but its hardly anything, I know. I split my time between both rides and as of lately its a little to cold to work on them. Need to get back on it. More deadening! i will have to look up what part of CA. you live in before i accept it is a little too cold, lol. I knew someone was going to call me on that! These west coast temperatures arent shit compared to what you midwestern boys get, I know. Hell it doesnt even snow (close to Sac) here. Not even close. Ever. I do need to get on the goodfoot and get these projects done! Thats it, no more procrastinating! Im going to have to retract that statement about snow cause hell hath frozith overith. I made a topic about it already. Still not as cold though as you guys.

Have you thought about using an external port? It would make sense to get the most volume you can under the seat ion that enclosure. Bigrank916, i hoped you or shizzon would chime in. thanks. i have thought about some aeros. i know sub up port back seems to yeild the best sound but the back ot my box is only like 7 inches inside so a slot would be real tricky Im sure shizzon would have a few better ideas than I, but I will surely try to help. I think some aeros would do pretty well for your install. You want to keep as much volume as possible for the BTL so an external port would be best. You mentioned in previous posts that you werent into show style installs so the look wouldnt matter too much. Plus since its under the seat, you wont see it anyway.

I always loved those body styles. My stepfather has a 86 GT 5.0 convertible and the lines are terrible in my opinion. I believed they switched from 87-93 or 94 for your body style. It looks much better. I think it has to do with the ground effects and a different nose. Gook lookin ride dude. I like the white but I couldnt do it. Is that a five speed or an automatic?

Congrats dude. Take pics for your build log!

bigrank916 replied to mrbully's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Believe Im when I say Im not trying to make RF look inferior in any way. Just giving an idea for a cheaper alternative. It probably is a good price for a RF but he even mentioned SSA store is cheaper. Ive owned a few RF amps as well and they are nice. -
Does anyone here build custom boxes for members?

Remember those specs are in ideal conditions. Sundown rates almost all amps at 12.5 volts instead of the 14.4 industry standard. You can fully expect rated power from a sundown in a proper everyday install. -
X2.

need all the help i can get been away from the scean for many years now. lol. and can't believe 1500 watts that cheap. but i hope so.lol. wow just saw ssa store has it for 485$ now i know it's true. will it work for a couple of hours with out getting hot on 2 l7 15 . i know they say the kickers can't take much power over rms so the 1500 should be perfect just don't want it getting hot to fast. thanks. I would look at one of these from Jacob. SAZ1500D used Its from the owner himself with warranty. Smaller footprint also. Im not sure if its the kicker or fosgate that has the fixed 45hz subsonic filter setting but the sundown is variable.
