Nice pick up dude. You will love your Sundown! Congrats on the new piece.
-
Welcome dudes.
-
then how do you suggest i put it in my truck? I wouldnt. You havent given squat on info to help you. Lets start off by asking why you bought the IB3 in the first place? Then what kind of sound are you looking for?
-
Just email Jacob and ask him. sundownz@sundownaudio

Just ordered one. Gotta represent for the Autorama in Sac on the 20th. This will be my first audio clothing of any kind.

Thats funny dude. IB is infinite baffle. There isnt an enclosure. Those speakers are made to sit like any other regular car speaker. Ie: in the rear deck where a 6x9 might sit. Welcome dude.
-
Im not sure if the port should go through the rear deck in your case but Ive seen it done here before. I know guys will take out the speakers and/or cut out extra holes in the deck for more spl in the cabin but Im not sure about venting just the port for increasing spl. Just not sure how much the tuning lowers when volume is taken away though. Its probably a steeper scale than you think.

AQ20KD coming soon...

Nothing exceeds like excess. You should know that, Tony. I mean AQ... -
What I do know about a trunked vehicle is that you will increase dbs in the cabin by venting the sound though the rear deck. I dont know if youve done that already or if thats even where you were going with it. Other than that, its just check and see. Sucks. Ya, I think I guestimated too little for the tuning change accounting for the dd. Next time I'll have to break down the actual math and get it just right to make my new enclosure.

Ive noticed the same thing before with different drivers. It didnt seem to make a difference to my ear. Its seems to be normal, I guess.

This build is coming along very nicely. You should get a video of how big the smile is across your face when you turn the ignition on for the first time. Someday I'll sack up and try it in my truck one day. Excellent job dude.

Nice work Jay. A few more steps and that Z15 is ready for some power. I hope you like the performance as much as I do.
-
You can only get that answer through trial and error. Every car is different so its hard to say what will work, which way. The re calc will give you a very good approximation but it doesnt account for driver displacement. That, among other things people might say. I used it a couple times and its worked out fine. Just lately I think Im tuned a bit lower than I thought originally because of DD. On the other hand, I really love the sound. Its definately not exact.

Just a little video that I made today with the Z15. I said I would so here it is. Its not too bad even though its on a 125.2. I thought you guys that were looking at Zs or already might have them would like to see this. Its 3.25ft3 at 35hz. Z15 vid in Geo

x2, test that Sundown to make sure it is working and then walk away with a good amp at a steal of price. X3. Thats what I use and its great. $270 and its in your neighborhood? Now thats a helluva deal!

Got the SAE1200D hooked up a couple days ago. Maaaaan...this sub is a smokin buy for $200 right now! What a complete difference with some power! Dont let this SQ driver fool you though. This thing gets real loud and sounds great while doing it. Just a little too much rattle without deadening right now! Using the amp at half gain with bass boost at zero. Subsonic and LP filter are at about 1/4 turn. The deck is at -6 on bass and it only goes to -7. The need for door pods here is mandatory. Front stage is really lacking now. Went out to make a video today and when I got there, the camera was dying. I'll go back later today when its charged.

Im sorry Chop has befallen such tragedy. I wish the best for his family and a quick recovery. Everyone keep them in your prayers. Get well soon Chops' wife!

Homepage Major Upgrade :)
bigrank916 replied to Mark LaFountain's topic in News, Announcements, and Lobby
I agree. The product pages are much smoother then before, and rides pages are also improved (gallery placement) and everything is just easier to read now. Its that type of webpage that assures me the seller has put forth the time and effort into their products as well. Only problem is I need one more car. Fi for the truck, Sundown for the geo, and SSA for the ??? Xcons of course. -

The pages look much more user friendly Mark. Nice job with the easy on the eye colors as well. Great work! -
Damn guys I didnt know all that. Not saying I dont like the performance of my Mechman but when I need one for my geo, it will have to be DC. Too much good stuff that I keep hearing about them.
-
A 7.5" wide port? Are you sure about that?
-
Welcome dude. You came to the perfect place.
-
Damn dude. Thats some serious shnit there.

You can use that enclosure. If it doesnt sound like you want, build one of your own.
