lol, a dying pig? Nice. I'll definitely start opening up my options again. Set backs in money have made me put my priorities straight so the subs will probably have to wait a while, so I have plenty of time to full on decide. I just wish I could hear them in person. I'm even thinking about seeing if I could fit a regular sized sub in the back and going a little bigger. The box might be small and a little under recommended size, but we'll see. I got offered a really good deal from a friend on 3 kicker comps and a 2400w amp, but I think I just want the amp. Depending on specs of course. Either way, anybody have any videos that do shallow mount subs justice? I know you can't full on comprehend the sound from a video, but most of the shallow mount videos on youtube are recorded with pretty shitty cameras. Or any suggestions on regular sized subs that take tiny boxes? As long as the mounting depth is below 7", I should be able to work something out.

Well, it's a manual so I couldn't do between the center console and the dash. I really want to do it behind the seats. I don't know if I can fit them under the seats, or If i want to. Think under is a better idea?
-
Alright. I have to go to work in about ten minutes, but once I get off I'll start measuring. If not tonight, tomorrow. What measurements are you looking for? Behind the seats? Length width depth?

1000 watts rms would be insanely sweet, but the middle seat is attached to the drivers. And I love my middle console compartment, or else that would be a good option. I'll definitely start looking around. Although I said I decided on 2 8's, I just don't think that' will satisfy me. I'm thinking about just getting 1 shallow mount 12" and seeing how I like that, and based on that I'll see if I want to upgrade to 2 in time. Still not sure though. I'm so indecisive. I've went through too many subs throughout my time, so I'm trying to decide for a longer term set up.

That's honestly my next obstacle. The box itself. I've never built a box before in my life. Let alone understood how to recess a sub. Any tips or tutorials that will treat me like a child until I learn? =)

Yeah your best bet might be some 8"s if your trying to hit the lows, dont know to many 6.5" speakers that will cover the frequency range under 40Hz. Just my .02 the RE's are probably worth a try for that price. you can find a pair for about 90 shipped on ebay sometimes. assuming you can make them fit... I'm pretty confident I could make them fit with some wiggling. If anything, adjust the seats. My passengers sit farther back than me, so if I scooted that up, it would help a lot. I can't seem to find out the range though. Haven't found the specs anywhere. Anyone know off hand how low they'll hit? They recommend I tune .5@35hz ported. The lowest music I plan on hitting is stuff like Young Jezzy- White girl, and Put on. As long as I can go that low and stay healthy with a decent amount of flex, I'm set.

Alright, I went out took some primitive measurements and I have about 7" deep, 46" length give or take and about 20" high. Not Exact measurements, but as close as I can get at the time of night
-
I'll look into those e8's. And yea lol, i figure I won't be able to get much flex with my single cab truck and 2 8's. I'll definitely live though. As long as I can hit clean lows, with decent volume, I'm fine. Anything I end up doing will probably be better than what I've had, easy. Once I get numbers, I'll post them. I don't know If i'd want to do 6.5"s though. I think 8 is as low as I plan on going. I've been looking more into the rex8's and they seem to have some decent low end for $50 shipped on ebay.
-
No, I wish. That would make my options a lot more versatile. I'm not even sure if most of the 8's i've been looking at will fit. I really need to go final measurements. It's dark and raining right now though.
-
where my seats are i'm looking at about 4 1/2", before the box, but i need to do more measuring so don't quote me on that. I checked out some of the tang bands, and the sundown. they both look pretty nice. I've always wanted to try out sundown.

How do you guys feel about the REX8D4? Seems like i'd be able to fit two behind the seats with good space to spare.

I just asked for recommendations on a "good" shallow sub the other day. I got some good feedback you may find helpful. Not exactly the same goal, but there aren't many options out there. GL! I looked into the eclipse, but I don't think it'll fit. Wish it would. I'm starting to consider just 1 12 or maybe even 2 8's. I've never heard 8's, so that would be interesting. Also, I looked at your post, and started looking into the soundstream stealth. Found one online for about $165, so that also might be a good bet. Thanks!

What would you recommend? I'm working minimum wage and still paying off the truck, so I'm not looking for anything ridiculously expensive. But any opinions are nice. I'd rather spend more money over time for a better sub than cheap out and be disappointed.

Reading would help, he said he's looking at shallow mount subs and yes a custom box is the best instead of those prefab boxes. Sorry, should of made that more clear. I plan on building my own box. No way will I go with another prefab. Made that mistake too many times.

I was cleaning out my car, when some kid came though in a new caddy acting fresh as anything next to me and my 1991 lumina. He had all of his doors open and was trying to show off his bass, that sounded horribly distorted, and pretty weak. Although I have a 15 in the trunk that I knew would blow him away, I passed it up and made the mature decision to not have a mini bassrace in public like that. Anyone proud? I honestly think coming to ssa has made me gain a lot of respect for real car audio and respect for others on the road. I used to be the annoying person behind you at a red light pumping my nasty bass as hard as possible, but now I turn it down, or at least turn down the bass.

yea, i know it's a year old. just came across it and while lurking and thought i'd ask

The link didn't work. It 404'd. But is this the new one, or the all black splw with the chrome dustcap?

I know most of the members don't like elemental designs due to the owner, but how is the sound deadening? Or better yet, liquid deadening in general? My car has a horrible rattle, and it's about time I've done something. Here's the link. http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_24&products_id=53 For now, I think it'll be good. I'm not doing anything super serious with my setup yet, so I think it'll be good enough for now, especially at the price. While your here, how do you feel about the subs? I'm thinking about buying one from someone on craigslist for $200 in a ported box tuned to 26hz. Not sure about the tuning, but the driver itself seems legit. It's a e12A.22
-
I'm glad to hear that. I've been seriously thinking about getting an amp from them, and was hoping the sub would be good too. [ Check out my gallery and see what I did to eliminate rattles in my trunk and cost me less than $13.00, just bought 3 cans of plumbers expanding foam and where gloves. trust me it does wonders Plumbers expanding foam? I think I might try that. Can't hurt to save some money. Any tips? And where'd you buy it from? Honestly, if I had the money to spare, that's what I'd use. In the future though, I plan on it. That's reallllllly good to hear. If the plumbers expanding foam idea doesn't work out for me, I'll probably do this. Appreciate all the responses! =) Time to deaden!

Oh lordy lordy lordy. I'm tuned in. =)

I hope this is the right place to post this, but whenever I'm in a thread, and there's a jpg link and I click on it it takes me to a page saying that I don't have permission to do this. Anyone know why? I know that all of these jpgs are legit, so I'm just a little confused. Thanks

Hi. Don't know if there was a thread already, looked back but couldn't find one. I need help. Alright. So, not too long ago, a friend that seems like he knows a decent amount about car audio set the gain and bass boost on my amp. My amp is a 1000w mono block, and it was pushing a 15" spl sub rated at 1400rms. It sounded really good, but all of the sudden, it blew a single voice coil. Obviously, I was upset. I got a replacement for the sub, the same one, but I just don't want to blow it again. Can anyone help with tuning the amp by gain? And I've also heard to NEVER touch the bass boost. Is that true? Oh, and when setting the gain, should I have my head unit as high as I usually do? And finally, I usually have my head unit at 38/46, and the bass at 0. Is that too high? Thanks in advance. I know this is probably a uneducated thread, but we all need to learn somewhere =)

Help with seeting amp gain
emfk replied to emfk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Just to update, I went out and bought a dmm from radioshack, and set my gain correctly, and the difference is ridiculous. It's so much louder and cleaner, and I'm very happy with it. Thanks =) -
the sub that fills the gap between Q and Bl is ....AA Havoc <<<< and i think that is the sub u r lookin for I'm interested. Tell me more? =)
