As of now, I have an old splw-15. Definitely not for long. And the best amp I've used is a kicker zx1000.1.

Bought a sae-1200d v.1 off of Kevin. Arrived today, and I'm in love. Packing was great, price was great, condition is great. Kevin held the amp about a week and a half for me. I really appreciate that, especially seeing as how busy he is starting up 1800woofers and doing skar audio. As soon as I was ready, he called and personally took my information, and sent me a receipt through email. Nice touch. He also sent the amp out that day. Showed up super fast. Will definitely do business with Kevin again.

Now this is a slab! Those rims are definitely sick with the lift.

I think kompressors are by far the sexiest looking Mercedes. Definitely a good buy! Tuned in to this one

I know it's been said, but those connectors are sickkkk! And that plexi looks clean!

I might just come by both! I definitely want to see some friendly faves

I think ill have to send you an email soon and get my hands on some 12's!

Finally! I never catch any competitions in indiana. Consider this an extremely enthusiastic RSVP.

I have a pair of rockford 6x8's in my doors. Not sure about the exact model number but I like them, for the price. The bass is pretty smooth too. Not punchy.

I'm not planning on getting any (way too much for my needs) but has anyone dealt with splc subwoofers? They seem pretty legit. Just wondering if anyone has first hand experience with them. I see a craigslist posting for two splc neo 10" subs almost every other day(along with a stetson 7k and some battery's) for $2000. Either way, who has dealt with these bad boys and has videos?

I personally like the all-natural look. Of course, some set ups just look so sexy with some carpet though!

You really should take the advice given and stick to building a new box before selling or buying new ones. Back when, I had a splw-15 that I hated until I put it in the right box. It blew my mind how much louder it was. If your 18" btl isn't giving you what you need, it's the enclosure, not the sub. Those things are ridiculous. In the right box, it should be more than enough.

I wonder what the mounting depth is. I'd love to see what a budget sub from fi is really like.

So, I recently bought a 98 ford ranger, and the space is ridiculous. Tiniest truck ever, but I love it. Right now, I'm running a old beat up 12" audiobahn, which I hate. I've been looking at subs that will fit, and the audiobahn in the box is slightly pushing it. It has a mounting depth of about 5 1/2", and I know the 187 is around that, so it seems like a good sub while saving space. Now, I can find reviews on the 12's, and 15's, but has anyone had personal experience with the 10"? It's either that, or I pick up a pair of tang band 8" subs, or maybe even one of their shallow mount 10's. I've always wanted to test out tangband and incriminator audio alike. So, my goals are just decent bass, and lows. I've heard that the 15 digs pretty low. I'd probably end up porting to about 32hz. I just want low, loud bass in my tiny truck. I usually listen to rap. Think the 187 will suit me? If not, suggestions are appreciated =)

@Don Ganso, Right now I'm running a rockford fosgate p3001 amp, which is rated 300w at 2ohms and 150 at 4ohms. Think it could work out pretty well? @crownvic, if you're liking the output of the 15" off 300 watts in a big ass crown vic, I'm sure the 10" in my tiny truck will suit me plenty =p. @steveo50, looked at getting a lethal injection, but the mounting depth is just too much. Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm pretty much set on this. Now time to plan a box. Wish me luck. I'll need it, lol

I decided to finally sack up and start planning a blow through. I just can't find anything around the web that actually explains. I really want to use aero ports. Do you think, if I sent two aero ports through the bed, and into the cab, that would be sufficient? I'd like to cut the smallest holes possible. Although I said before that I sacked up, I'm still pretty scared about cutting up my relatively new truck =). So, anyone have personal experience, pictures, or even tutorials? Thanks OH. Before I forget, My goals are to sound good, but have a really nice side of spl on the side. Just a daily ground pounder that sounds good,. I'm still trying to decide on which subs, but plan on either going with 2 12's, or if I can fit it, 2 15's. Not sure yet at all. This is all just planning out. I'm beginning to be pretty meticulous with the details.

I'm just honestly scared of cutting it up. If i was to cut out a full hole, how much would it run me to repair?

I'd like to start this post off by apologizing for all the crazy posts about which sub to pick and what to do with it. Even if you don't believe me (frankly, I have a hard time believing myself) I think I've decided I'll start off with 2 10" kicker cvts. If I don't like them, they're cheap enough that I could deal until I decide on an upgrade. My real question is though, if I was to do two 10's ported, at as close to 2 cu ft. after displacement, what should I tune at? I've heard people say that kickers like to be tuned to the mid 40's, but I like lows a lot. Do you think that 36-37hz would hit low enough for me? I'm not going for pipe organ lows or anything, just rap lows. Like Jeezy, and Lil' Jon and other stuff. Now, if 44-45hz will hit those, that's fine with me. I've just never been that good with determining that. I'd love to hit the low in Young Jeezy- White Girl, or especially the low in "Put On". Thanks
-
For those "lows" I'd say tune in the lower 30's. Think kickers would be ok around 33? How will the output be that low?

I have a 98 single cab ford ranger. Idk if I'll be satisfied with shallow mounts. I've been looking into the fi q. I really think I could fit it behind the seats with he sub directly behind the armrest. I think the recommended sealed volume is about .6-.8 cu ft for one 10" , and I've always wanted to try a Q out. Especially for lows. Anyone see any hope in this? I'm starting to become a little discouraged. According to box calculators, I could make the box out to about .8 after sub displacement. If I should just stop wasting my time and settle on shallow mounts, please give me cheap recommendations. I've never really heard one.

I measured it out, and mounting depth wise, I could fit it What's your question then? If you measured it and it will fit, build the box! You just need about 11" in total depth for it to fit. 6.5" for the mounting depth, about 1.5" behind the sub for the pole vent, 3/4" for the wood on the backside, and 2-2.5" in front of the baffle for the sub mounting flange and excursion. I guess that answers it. I really don't have 11" total. I didn't even consider having the 1.5" behind or baffle. I got way ahead of myself.

I know everyone hates comparison threads, but based on spl and lows, which would be better in personal opinion? Audioque 10" street duty, or 10" fi ssd? Sealed box around .8-1.0 cubic ft. Back of a 98 ford ranger

I just got a single cab 98 ford ranger and plan on doing a build soon with 2 12's or possibly 2 10's. Still need to go out and plan out the box. Before I do that though, I of course need to decide on the subwoofers. So far, my best bet for the money is 2 kicker compvt's. I'm looking for suggestions for a cheaper shallow mount that will still sound good. I've dealt with kicker before, and if I could avoid it for the same amount of money, I'd love to. I want to go low. Hopefully tuning to 34 or so. And if I have to, I'm completely willing to go with one 12. Best bass i've ever had was in the back of my 90 lumina. I had a knock off 15" spl sub in a sealed box. It wasn't that great, but it was pretty powerful. Although I'm sure I'll be impressed with the subs right behind me in the right box, I'm still looking to flex with the limited space. My budget is going to be around $500 max after all expenses (box, subs, amp, wiring) Now if the compvt is actually a good woofer and I'm blasting it and being biased, please let me know. And any box recommendations/tips are greatly appreciated. This will be my first. Thanks =)

I'll definitely look into those! 100 shipped sounds pretty good. All depends on how much the truck payment sets me back =), and how low I can get my buddy to go on that price for the amp. Think I could fit 1.5 cubes behind the seats in a ranger? God I need to go out and measure.
