properly grounding the battery
bigger_george replied to Slumpin's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I grounded mine to the factory ground spot since it is less than a foot away from my battery. I just sanded off the paint on the spot as extra precaution -
Anyone use a Eclipse cd8053
bigger_george replied to bigger_george's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Well, it wasn't done today thanks to the stubborn firewall, but all is taken out and put together, ready to go in. except just figured out I was short on a RCA. may have to get one online and see if i can get a cheap grommet as well. -

Thanks for the help; was a bit confused by the instruction manual. -
Anyone use a Eclipse cd8053
bigger_george replied to bigger_george's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
My original idea was that it would allow someone to xover the rear and front mid and tweets and as for the subs, i have no idea what two sets would be for. Most of the ones I have dealt with have 3 sets and that's why i am a bit confused as to how to connect em. -
LUNAR AMPS
bigger_george replied to XTRMEASURES's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i am, cuz most ppl are stupid about setting amps. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That is very true but doesn't work with audiophiles who like to fine tune their stuff tho' especially for the high end of the sound spectrum. Oh well that's what outboard eq's and crossovers are for right? B) -
LUNAR AMPS
bigger_george replied to XTRMEASURES's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I've heard a couple in comps very impressive sound. I'm not a big fan of the chip crossover deal though except maybe for a sub amp. -
I think I've heard 10%-15% of one's yearly salary is common.

How long does it usually take welding supply to ship? I ordered knukonceptz stuff the same day as welding supply(last thursday), but knukonceptz got it to me by saturday. Welding supply didn't even give me a tracking number

I did the big three
bigger_george replied to bigger_george's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
In sound? nah i haven't got my system in yet. The dash kit is supposed to ship to me very soon though and part of it should be finished by then and hopefully Jamie can finish the rest of it after this coming week. -
I did the big three

Is this ok or a no-no? I just added 4 gauge wire in addition to the factory wire(wired it to the same spot and sanded paint off the ground) and replaced the factory battery terminal blocks with stinger ones. -

Lotsa stuff i got recently, an Eclipse 8053. The marantz SR8400 going to my HT system. It wouldn't fit my old rack so i had to put it on my TV stand. RE XXX 6.5 and they accidentally shipped me a re 6.5 so i took pix for comparison. Lastly, a Concept 1200D i got real cheap.

I'm down for a group buy at the right price and right kind of amp -
That would be my car. The subs are 2 RLp-15's in 2 cubes sealed each. Original ones with black cones. I must admit it is looking excellent, can't wait to see and hear the finished product.

*PICS* My DIY Active Component Setup
bigger_george replied to ngsm13's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I got mine from the group buy. Nice setup, should sound good with some tweeking. I'm using a HT Vifa XT tweet for mine and the crossover built into the Eclipse HU. -
The amp isn't for me; it's for my bro's fiancee's car. I am going to use my ol' RE 35.1D. They needed a cheap reliable solution that would be optimal for an older Mag D2 since the previous amp on it was a kicker dx700 and was only getting 350 watts. I also believe Concept is a decent brand though not near top of the line. Plus i got the Concept for real cheap.

maybe this one? http://www.ubid.com/actn/opn/getpage.asp?AuctionId=10374220

Treo Amps
bigger_george replied to Fonzi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I also own a RE35.1D as well and bought it in pre-order(for only 250 cause their old database crashed ). Sometimes it is worth the gamble and as for adire, i would not hesitate either as they do have quite the know-how, and have been building amps(even though mainly for home) for a while now. It'll probably be a bit more expensive though if i know Dan's taste in using good parts. -
Yeah i got it for good price offa ubid, all i can afford right now. That stand i got with it looks so well-matched too
