weird looks like a new one but the label is for the old amp? Maybe it's an old board with a new heatsink

I disagree with the not making profit. Every company is out there to make a profit. Company's that sell direct leave out the middle man (which often is a very expensive cost) and can cut the prices down. Now I don't know the cost to produce the woofers but I'm sure RE could have increased the cost a little on their own and still be able to sell them. Not saying that they weren't selling too low originally, but if they wanted to increase the price so that they would have not gone under they should have. If they didn't then it was just a business decision and would have eventually been bought out anyways. Many people see direct sales as the wave of the future in many products. I am one that believes we need both a mix of direct sales as well as local sales. How are local salesmen to compete? Simple, differentiate themselves by methods such as quick and friendly customer service, knowledgable staff (gawd knows theres a bunch of dumbasses out there that don't know squat and fry their stuff), and a nice work area. Besides, it's very rare to see internet sales pull the majority of sales from shops as most of the sales they make are probably low-end brands because not everyone is an enthusiast. As for the online stores selling products against the manufacturers wishes, I agree with that statement; they are basically stealing the business and marketing techniques of the company. Just some rebuttal ranting, and of course all IMO

I hope the new driver has something to do with a certain high end sub line's technology. I'd luv to play around with a woofer thats a bit cheaper but uses the same technology of that line

I use the ultraflex orange. It's very flexible and a nice shade of orange(though the copper wire itself is pretty thick and can be somewhat hard to work with). I can't compare it to their other 1/0 gauge wires though as I've had no experience with the other wire -

Help with frequency setup

80% gain?? Do you have 2 volt preamps? I've never needed that much gain on 6 x 9's. Just turn it down, you're probably clipping it. -
Well, finally decided on an amp

and I purchased an Eclipse XA2000 for my midbass/midrange. I'll post up pix and stuff when i get it. Has anyone played around with one of these 2-/multi-channel class Db amps yet? Oh and my batteries cell blew so I went ahead and purchased a optima yellow top while i was at it. -

Well, my friend has recently been having issues with his electrical system. He currently has a red top and yellow top in the back. He reads around 14 volts up front but his battery in the rear (not isolated) reads at 12.5 volts?! The battery in the front and rear both read at 12.5 with car off. Any clue what could be causing this issue?

that was with the engine on. It jumped from 14.2 to 13.7 to 12.8 then back to 14.2 with just volume at 0. -

Well he disconnected the second battery and the amp reads at around 12.8 volts with HU at 0 volume. I'm starting to think its something else ... -

Yeah that's what I told him; i just said its acting like a distro block. So yes it's not being charged. -
I just used the calc, may use the design in my next project since it has taken forever for Jamie to finish my fiberglass enclosure.

Anyone have a local Pioneer dealer?
bigger_george replied to Tirefryr's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I have one near me but not sure if they have one hooked up. No way to really get it to you if I did audition it tho. -
I just found that sub the other night at madisound. What a beast! But so is the price

Sorry everything is taking so long...

another vote for black chrome, was thinking of that before i read the entire thread. Much more unique than the current stuff out there. Always good to have another company to get well-priced DIY stuff. -
Business is more of an art than a science so there are possible ways the customers could react. It could go either way, change in dealer/pricing structures is a risk (although calculated) to any company. It has done well for many companies in the past so most ideas are going to be based off of historical evidence, but the possibility of failure is still there (due to things such as improper marketing, overestimating of brand recognition, etc.). Regardless, I believe this is a huge step for RE and USAmps and they have most likely taken account of these risks. In my opinion, this is a huge step to becoming a bigger, more profitable company. Personally I am not a fan of the pricing either. But it is a jump to make em grow and as long as I can find it at a good deal or substitutes, I am happy with it
