thanks guys, appreciate it. im gonna finish the port tomorow. i ran out of titebond, lol
-
port will be done tomorow made the 1/4" trim panels for up front, will be wrapped in suede the same color as the headliner. the port im thinking of doing the lighter suede like the chevy logo. the side gaps will be covered up (so u wont see the rear doors/windows from the front) to house my speakers, just not sure how i wanna make the panel yet. i like how these came out
-
gonna get some work done today, if not today, sunday will be a big day. front doors are planned- will house (per door) 1 12" eminence delta, 2 8" delta pro's, and 2 power acoustic nx-5 bullet tweets. with 8 8s and 4 bullet tweets behind me in the wall trim panel. 2 crescendo 2ch amps for power on the mids (1700 bridged at 2 ohms per amp, about 215w per mid) and a crescendo 1000c4 for the tweets (about 125w per tweet)

i love PA mids and bullet tweeters in cars. they sound great.

psht, like i've ever posted threads here about PA speakers in a car.

still working on it, im as far as the pics go. i wanted to build the port yesterday, but the last few days its been pouring down rain in the afternoons.

oh. yea eventually i wanna get more power and swap the tranny and loose the reduction boxes (keeping me from converting to disc breaks in the rear as well), but for now (summer) im gonna drive it. when its winter, ill park it, strip it down and get it powdercoated and get it nice.

lmao no need for this thread. -
yea, the guy built it like 20 years ago (the chassis) and its been registered as a 64 bug, so it was easy for me to get a tag (vs not having a title, you have to get it inspected and they make you have a windshield, wiper, all this BS)... so they gave me an antique plate i think its a 1600, not sure, and im pretty sure its stock. runs great with the exception of a few problems, couple oil leaks, sometimes wont start (starter or solenoid, possibly battery connections) but i paid 2,250 for it, and its in pretty good shape other than paint and needing wires cleaned up alot. i drive it daily (not to work) but after work and just cruising around. its only let me down a few times, but its not a brand new car so its understandable. it gets to like 60, probably would go faster if i loose the reduction boxes and put a new tranny from a bug (current is a bus setup, geared very low, but will climb a hill like no other, lol) 1st gear is done by like 5mph, lol

haha funny, i actually just got my HU in, and im putting 4 mids and bullets on it! haha yea, that light always sticks up. should have that running within a few months too, need to get new weather stripping all around (all dry-rotted) and new tires, also DR'd.

hahahhahahahhahahaha the port will be removable, going to build the port today and maybe get some glass work done inside the box thanks

Been busy, not much time to work on this.

few pics of the passenger side, almost done with these pieces

yes, the center of the baffle is getting braced. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg234/pimpedout97x/IMAG0169-1.jpg
-
some 2x4s to mount the baffle to
-
well, i noobed up the 2nd baffle. i cut it 29" tall, instead of 35.25" tall and then notching the corners. i was going to go buy another sheet, even though i didnt want to, and luckily HD and lowes had just closed for the night. so i just went with this lol.
-
not exactly how i was planning on doing this, but it turned out pretty solid. i guess the only option i have here is to glass this gap really thick. should hold up with a few layers of glass right?
-
trim panels ftw. wrapping in suede probably on Wednesday. pretty good, out of 2 sheets of birch, this is whats left. gonna use some for trim pieces/45s inside the box, will need a 3rd sheet though for the front baffle and possible a 4th for the sub baffle(s)
-
little gap, nothing some LN wont fix
-
Getting closer... weekdays i only have an hour or less per day thats why I don't make much progress. This weekend though, ill have the whole inside of the box sealed up and ready for sub baffle and port.

i have to remove that resistor wired into the rear dome light, and move it to the front, becuase if it ever burns out i wont be able to replace it (for my LED dome lights)... it also gets VERY hot, so thats why it's been hanging from the roof, becuase i didnt wanna just stick it up there, and it burn through the headliner/catch fire.. lol i had quite a bit more space i could have used, but both seats go all the way back, so no one will ever have leg room issues.
-
got some cardboard, messed around with some trim panel templates last night before it got too late. today i get off early, and will get the roof installed. then its kerf time i think these panels will look nice once suede'd up any ideas on what to do here (from the corner of the box to the B pillar?) i noticed how Robin did the panel in maliboom's car, and it looks nice. i dont know if i want to screw into the B pillar though. also, its going to need to house some 8-10" mids and 2 tweets per side, so ill prally have to go with 3/4, and not 1/4" or something flimsy.
