its actually not bad, when im laying in bed its perfect. no strain on the neck what so ever. sitting in a chair would be, but when i watch tv, its when im laying in bed. i will stick with 2 channel. i figured rears wouldnt work in this situation. since i dont have to spend the extra money on rear speakers, lets throw together a nice (still not too expensive) 2 channel system should i do a DIY setup or what? my desk is right under where the tv will be, with my PC, etc, so i can run my HDMI cable from the PC to the TV, so i can use the wireless keyboard and mouse if i wanna lay in bed and use the computer on the tv. im building my desk soon (after i finish my wall lol) out of partical board, and then covering it in 1/8" or some kind of thin stainable wood grain type birch or something. its just going to be a simple desk, with shelves on top, just something to fit in that corner, the desk i have now sticks past the base boards around the bathroom entrance, etc.. so it wont be much $ or work to build a desk to my specs. im putting some speakers in it too its for my PC though. thats another story LOL..they're some speaker boxes i took apart, just gonna build the same size enclosures, but implement them into the desk rather than having the boxes taking up room -

also, those speakers on the tv are removable and will be removed when i mount it, and get a HT system. the speakers resemble an Ass. LOL i think itll look cleaner without them anyways. on a side note, i LOVE the tv.. great tv for the price. (1,099) 1080P.. 42" lcd, etc. out the door it was $1,450 with tax, and a 5 year plan. the plan was 370 bux! but i had to get it, i wouldnt feel safe without getting it, if something goes wrong in a year and 1 day after the manf warr is up, i'd have to pay for it, although reviews on these Vizio's seem pretty good. -
to seal this gap inside my box....if i glass it, whats the absolute BEST way to approach this, so the glass doesnt ever pop off from the bass over time?
-
so staple fleece over the gap, resin, let harden, then add mat? then do the screw thing (after a few layers harden, predrill and screw it to the box)? will this work... i thought about stretching the fleece, applying a layer or resin, and while its still wet, where the fleece is stapled to the box, screw a 2x4 or something to the box, over the fleece where it meets the box, to sort of sandwich the fleece+resin in between the actual box, and a 2x4 on top of it. would that help any?

box is in...cant resin to the outside of the box

screwed down front baffle with 2 screws just to hold it in place temporarily. port baffle...dont want to cut out the port opening yet, becuase i dont know how wide its going to be. height will be 5.75" though. its most likely gonna be 5.75 x 28-30", for around 161-172.5 sq inches of port...not as much as i wanted but its absolutely all i have room for. this is just sitting there by the way...not screwed in or anything yet...thats why theres gaps at the top, etc. inside

thanks man

grinding off the tips of some screws that i had screwed in from the outside of the box. attached the 45, connecting the top and the back panels of the box. the corners will be glassed. its solid as hell (the 45 i just put on) and im happy with how it came out, especially since this whole box was built day by day, as i go, and not designed. glued the front baffles together. i want to put them on the box for good, but im scared to, until i get the port done.. if i put it on, then its gonna be hard to finish the port, so ill wait til the port is done.
-
this is sorta how im sealing up the top piece to the rest of the box... the back was easy, the sides are sorta easy, the corners in the back i guess im gonna have to just glass. ideas?

thanks

the top of the box screws and is glued permanently to the wood over the rear sunroof. it doesnt move, very solid. gluing it up! put it on.. notice i covered the edge in suede and rounded the edge...ill explain why in the next pic the port will only come out to about here. so i extended the top of the box, and covered it in suede to cover the rear sunroof, or else the very edge of the sunroof would have been showing, becuase the port doesnt come past the sunroof.

the top of the box, although it still needs to be trimmed up a little. trying to hold it where itll be mounted, while taking a pic at the same time the gaps on the sides/back will be sealed with birch, at a 45 degree angle, and of course, glassed a couple layers thick. sealed the rear "sunroof". the back one doesnt open, so theres no tracks for the roof to pop off of, like the front. only reason for sealing the back is becuase im going to screw and glue the top of the box to that, for extra support. its hard to explain, but you'll see as i progress. i got lazy and didnt feel like finishing the top piece tonight. but the back trim panel is 95% done, so ill move back to the actual box until its done, then finish the back trim panel and front trim panel. got glue?

it was a bed sheet lol now its got cuts and glue on it haha

covered in headliner fabric, for padding suede: its not pushed all the way down in this pic.
-
ya, im using the same suede i covered the headliner in, to do the sunroof. i want it to blend in.
-
i was thinking just covering it in suede to make it look like a closed door covering the sunroof. i could do vinyl though.
-
the piping has like a 1/4" piece of flat plastic on the back of it, it tucks perfect in between the panels, im not even gonna glue it, unless it ends up falling out, which i dont think it will. im making 2 smaller pieces of trim panel for those 2 side gaps, covering in vinyl or suede. similar to the first wall

these pics do it more justice. i replaced the screws with some nicer ones, not exactly what i wanted, but theyre black, and look better than a drywall screw, so they're fine. once the amps and everything is in, it wont be as noticeable. also got some black leather piping, like the kind you sew into the edges of a seats upholstery. gonna run that around the boarder of my trim panel, to cover the few gaps that i do have. what you guys think? the piping, i got 10 yards, it was only .30 cents a yard lol
-
pics sorta make it look bad, yes theres a little gap at the top, but the flash makes it show alot more than it really does. its the best i could get it! the drywall screws will be replaced with screws with nicer heads on them tomorow, i just put those in now to hold it so the glue will dry. i really didnt want any glue at all. and i had to have the wood 2 pieces, thats why you see that seam, again the flash shows it more than it is. once all the amps are in there, you wont really see any of the imperfections, although there isnt many. this was the 2nd time covering the trim panel...attempt 1 failed. LOL.

frame for the false floor cardboard template for the floor will be traced on 1/4" birch, and cut out tomorow after work, around 4pm EST.

everything is gonna be black..dont want any other colors
