Wiring Questions
CrazyKenKid replied to jcarter1885's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
o ya the aluminum coating(tinned) lol! completely forgot about that. but doesn't that aluminum(tinned coating) actually have a practical use other then making the resistance higher? -
WTB: Battery Charger
CrazyKenKid replied to mjmarovi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i dont' no much actually i don't no a darn thing abuot power supplies! other then i have on my computer lol! jk!! but ya i do kno over 14.4-14.7 on any agm battery is bad and will lessen it's life (the battery that is) but hey if you wnat to do something stupid like put a 12volt battery at 16-18 volts lmao go fro it! other then that there is a little device called a MLA (missing link audio) it makes your alt put out move volts to better charge your batteries or so they cliam but i wouldn't use it b/c agm batteries aren't meant for over 14.4 (which is what most alts can charge at anyways) but if you are just a ground and pounding (mma fighter ) then i say don't worry to much about your keeping your batteries at 15volts if you ere heavy in the comp side then ya keep the voltage up and abuse the hell out of those batteries lol!! but for sure those are jsut my thoughts about it wait for some of the experienced guys to chime in! give a few more days!! they will they always do! -
WTB: Battery Charger
CrazyKenKid replied to mjmarovi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
wiat you said you want to charge your batteries to 15volts...? why agm isn't suppost to be around 14.4-14.7 anything more and you risk damaging them i though? also keep in mind your alt can't top off your batteries! that is where a charger comes into play. and if you top of your batteries it is better for them anyways!!! (but i could be wrong i am no super battery expert, shizzzzon would know the best about this kind a thing i would say) -
WTB: Battery Charger
CrazyKenKid replied to mjmarovi's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well stay away from those automatic ones! i currently own a SCHUMACHER SC-1200A 12V CHARGER 12/8/2 and ya i don't like it ihave to mess with it to charge my battery bank nearly every time! if you have have the EXTRA cash like 250-300 buy a batcap charger lol those are 5 stage chargers lol!! ya i know you wnat to keep cost down, as for the kinetik charger it is only like 100$ on ebay mabye more with shipping. i would say go with that once since you are using a bunch of kinetik anyways! plus that charger has a great feature called recondisioning (i think) which is suppost to extend the life of the battery at the cost of like 24hours of steady charging!! and when you look at it you jsut spend like X number of dollars on it so why not pay an extra 100$ to get the power end up to spec! and yes charging yoru batteries via a charger is the best way to TOP them off! your alt can't do that! -

Wiring Questions
CrazyKenKid replied to jcarter1885's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
ya that is the knu in white right? that stuff is SUPER thick and hard to work with, the other stuff though the mroe expensive stuff is SO Much easier to use! i am refering to the Kolossus Fleks Kable http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?category=Kolossus Fleks Kable the knu white stuff the cheaper stuff is a pain to work with i find! like for example look at my 2 pics. in the 1 you can see how much the white wire didn't want to bend and in the other the black wire (and red) bent no problem. the black and red is fleks kable and the other pic is the KLMX and this is ALL 1/0 wiring. and the blue i believe is the kicker stuff! also if you notice in the second pic how easy the black wire bent compared to the white wire! -
Wiring Questions
CrazyKenKid replied to jcarter1885's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i have used kicker and knu wire and i prefer the knu stuff myself. i currently have a 100.4 and a saz2000 (1ohm) and i have ONLY 1 run of 1/0 wire, from knu, from front to back and in the rear i have 2 batcap 2000's wired also with 1/0 wiring(1 run). IDEALY you want to use the biggest wire you can get to get the resistance down or just more runs of 1/0 wire (remember hooked in parallel the resistance will drop lol) i have HEARD that welding wire is about the same to use just stiffer but WAY more cheaper. you have to be careful though b/c the jacket on the welding wire is less durable so watch out for cuts or anything of that nature. also if you are looking to get it cheap there is a site called... weldingsupplies.com or something like that but those are my thoughts i hope they help out a little! -
how cow that is ODD send that video to jacob or chris (at db-r) and see what they say or even ssa store for that matter! wow i never seen that before and i was going to say a bad grounded but you even switched amps! so wow! interesting

MTX vs USAMPS
CrazyKenKid replied to Steveman09's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
have you considered a sundown amp? like a SAZ2000 or SAZ1500 or even a SAE1200d (280 bnib)?? and i have never personnaly used either of those amps! but my buddy has used the mtx one and i didn't mind it! i actually thought it was pretty good!! so from my buddies point of view go with the mtx! -
i got a buddy selling his 2-15inch NS d1. if you are interested P/M me and if you aren't look at EBAY!!! 499BNIB

Big voltage problem
CrazyKenKid replied to bigrank916's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i assume you DON"T have another battery in your setup other then the front battery right? and what is your front battery? if it is an AGM i know it is bad to charge those at higher then 14.5-14.7 volts and if it is RESTING at above 15 you might have hurt or SHORTENED the life of your battery depending on what it is of course! but nice voltage all the same but a little high for my likings! loL! and most definitely look into buying a DMM for yourself to have on hand! and you mentioned you have a stinger volt meter? when you got it did you calibrate it at all? i know when i got mine my voltage was out by a good 1.5 volts!! if you remove the cover plate there is a little screw there!! if i was you i would set the stinger volt meter to match a dmm reading. do it once at normal condition(music volume at low) then again with your music up loud and what not!! Just to get the most accurate reading! -

hey pos the link you were on. with the 12volt site i was just saying if you wanted to run your LED through your harness the 12volt site would tell you which color of wire to tap into for power and rem. so you could turn on the LED when you turned on your truck. -

Mono block or bridge?
CrazyKenKid replied to tegeler_eclipse12's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well for starters that is a refub one and it only puts out 1200rms! so how reliable do you think the refub is? if it was by db-r then it would be awesome but from someone else can you trust them? hell i would jsut get the sae1200 (at least we know it can output a ton of power check out the specs of the v1 (1770rms) other thenn that plenty of ppl use hifonics my buddied used one a while ago and well it broke so he got it repaired and it broke again then he got it repiared and the company went bankrupt and stole his amp! lol! o well you win some you lose some eh! but for sure let other ppl chime in abou them and don't take my word for it. -
Mono block or bridge?
CrazyKenKid replied to tegeler_eclipse12's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
lol deadener ftw lol!! all i can say about deadener is make sure the surface is clean as a whistle and don't but it up each piece! either over lap-it or leave a gap! also doulbe it up and beind the speaker (comps) triple it up!! so 3 layers directly behind the speaker, 2layer above it and if you can fit a third run just do 1 layer! it is what i did and i love it!! they sound awesome!! -
