hey m5 here is his reply to your question! i also told him to sign up to the ssa forums and say hi and comment on this post rather then going though me, unless he wnats to go though me and get delay reponse times lol!! "My Equalizer is not intended to really operate as a crossover, more of a steady rolloff for the lower frequencies. The LP on the amp is set at about roughly 85 HZ with an 18db rolloff. The gains on the amp are around set at 7 out of 12. The Headunit never gets turned up past 75-80% because I know it can be the "lease trusted" peice of the puzzle for distortion/clipping."

nice!! i like it! and also notice the right side of the amps lol! they look so empty compared the left side of the amps lol so many wires lol!!
-
basically we have no idea why the midblow, i will ask him the what his LP is and the slope of it. and sorry for all the confusion. he set the gain via ear but then he tells me that he set it 3/4 the way.. so i am like ya over powering it much? i wil dip deeper into the gains, he thinks the h/u is clippings b/c it is an ome! other then that i will report back!

or that also! lol -
it woudl depend on the system i would say... box, car, electrical, dialy, etc... but i would have to say will the sa8 get louder then the sa12... i belive the motors are different and there is less cone area so i am going to say no! but i could be wrong and if that is the case someone will correct me!

no clue what you are talking about b/c as the impedance changes so does your number! but i do have a chart for you! send me a p/m and i will send you a good copy! -

CrazyKenKid replied to Don Ganso's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
o does it make a difference lol no not realy! just a selling point! actual numbers i would have to GUESS 0.001 lol actualy i jsut pulled that number out noticable difference i would have to say NO -
Fuse Holders... Voltage Drop?
CrazyKenKid replied to Don Ganso's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i assume you are talkign about this one right? Knukonceptz product detail for KONFUSED HIGH CURRENT IN-LINE FUSE HOLDER is this statement valid, yes! how think about it! what happens to resistors in parellel? the current divides up and hte overal resistance drops! -

CrazyKenKid replied to high_score_1's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
and you do relieze that 12volts and 300 amps is about 3600rms right? and 14volts and 300amps is 4200 so how much output is your amp going to be able to output/ -

CrazyKenKid replied to high_score_1's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
WAOAADasdfndslkfnf you wnat to put 2-runs of 1/0 into an amp via a distro block....what amp and how much current is it going to pull? remember 1/0 has a current limitation of 300amps~ if the amp pulls more then 300amps though the SINGLE input you run the risk of heating up and potentially melting the jacket.. so i ask again what amp? and is it needed to have more then 1 input? notice on amps that are 5k plus have multi 1/0 input right b/c they can pull more then 300amps of currnet at a given time so for them it is a safely thing...does yoru amp REALLY need 2 runs? also keep in mind ppl who do multi inputs normally have something liek this or notice how it is a solid piece of alum or copper going into the amp rather then a piece of wire!! also shizzzon is building something like this if you are interested and pretty cheaply also! -
Distribution blocks
CrazyKenKid replied to high_score_1's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
wtf??? ya lets not hook 2-12v batteries in series and not feed the amp 24vdc lol!! try hooking them in parrellel unless you are hooking 2-6vdc batteries in series! also if you have 1/0 going into the amp make sure you have 1/0 going out of the amp!! theere was a guy on here who wanted to do 1/0 in and 4awg out b/c he didn'thave enough 1/0 for a ground lol!!! some ppl kids! jsut making sure you don't do this. -
build your own box!! they are fun plus it is a sealed box so it is EASY to do!!! hell go ported if you ggot the room!!!!! wait doesn't ssa do sub boxes now??? also i just read you were going to go ported but didn/t have the extra money but seriesly how much does it cost to go ported? piece of mdf 30$ plus screws and glue...and carpet/paint (whihc you don't need jsut makes it look better) plus when you buy the sheet at home depot they can do all the cuts for you! just tossing that out there for you. and if you need help on a sub box design you cna post here or send me a p/m!!

Amp Set up Help
CrazyKenKid replied to SaxMan's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
but also BE CAREFUL with using a bass knob! they are a NO NO in my books and at lot of other ppl books b/c of what they do! and go with what m5 said to do! post up your build with all the info and please please read the links in his sig before posting! I agree, your distorting everything at the head unit. +1, maybe 2 should be plenty for bass if used at all, I keep mine at 0. Treble is your opinion, but I keep mine at +/-1. Edit: On my head unit, (CDA-105), I always use the SUB W. control to increase bass while keeping the EQ the same. The bass knob also helps, but you can get great bass while leaving your EQ settings near neutral, and IMO sounding cleaner (better). -

Hifonics bxi2019 help
CrazyKenKid replied to Trentin08's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
it is never safe to run at 0.5 ohm. for burps maybe if you know what you are doing but for daily NEVER. first read this thread about impedance rise! Why "daily" systems should not count on impedance rise - SSA Car Audio Forum then think about 1/2 ohm load? at 1/2 ohm (compared to 1ohm) you are drawing 2times the current though the amp! now lets say the relay in the amp is rated for 20amps and you toss 25amps at it or more b/c of being at 1/2 ohm and you pop your relay in the amp! so what simple fix yes but what happens if you also pop some fets and some other gadgets? then what? you pay a BIG bill b/c you were being dump! plus you void warrenty! -
Flickering light and cd skipping??
CrazyKenKid replied to Sencheezy's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well right now, Im running two runs of 4 gauge, and I have a volt meter on the dash, but, it doesn't show numbers. It just has a H and a L, and the meter will be in the middle at idle with nothing on. It drops and goes back to normal, unless im at a stop light, and have it up, then it kinda stays low, until i drive again. I drive a 96 explorer, so the battery upfront is pretty big. so where can I buy a dmm? and how much does it cost? If I turn down the bass boost on the amp, then it won't produce any bass umm first i recommend you get a voltmeter something like stinger (it is what i use and it is small and acurate) STINGER SVMR VOLTMETER RED 3-DIGIT DIGITAL DISPLAY NEW - eBay (item 360233695794 end time Apr-10-10 11:13:25 PDT) as for a dmm almost anywhere you can spend 20-500$ on a dmm so do a little reseach and don't be afraid to use ebay and or buy a used FLUKE DMM (digital multimeter) they are awesome to have!! okay you say "If I turn down the bass boost on the amp, then it won't produce ANY bass" can you explian this? like you say ANY bass as in 0 dB's? you don't have a dmm so you don't know what it can produce, also sorry if you answered this already what h/u are you using? and is there a bass control setting? if so you should MAX this out, and bass controll not BASS on the EQ!!! -
Amp Set up Help
CrazyKenKid replied to SaxMan's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
i believe JL says to set everything to flat b/c lets say you set your eq to +5 bass and your h/u eq for the bass setttings boosts the 60-100hz range and lets say you set your gain using a 50hz tone then lets say you play music at 60hz at a +6 boost so therefore you are clipping the amp, i believe they say to do that to cover there @$$'s though and i also believe that i will win the lotto some day also! hope this helps but seriosly m5 last post take that into consideration! -
