Orion Cobalt CS 500.5
CrazyKenKid posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Hey guys I am looking into buying the above listed amp (orion cobalt cs 500.5) but for some reason I can't find the specs for this amp. So far the ONLY specs I have found but NOT confirmed are RMS Power at 2 Ohms: -1 W x 50 Epinions.com - Search Results: Orion Cobalt $ 500 _5_Amplifier___Cobalt_CS_500_5 (whatever that means) and 50x4@4ohm and 200x1@ xxOHM basically if it is 50x4@4ohm that is good but if it is 200x1@4ohm that isn't good lol. so if ANYONE has better Google skills then me please help me out or if anyone can verify with past experiences or a manual that would be awesome! and here is a pic of it! thanks Kenneth -
n/p and it took him a good 3days for the total install and a bunch of idea's lol!! and if you need help i can help you out as best i can!

the saz 3500 isn't to much as long as you know what you are doing and know how to control the volume and follow your nose lol!!! but you need to bump responsibly so it doesn't get stolen! 3500 is what 1000 used... big bucks! fi what 200-400$ big money there plus your electrical a few batteries h/o alt wiring lol 2000$ easy
-
lmao o i have heard that reason before lol! good times! keep in mind when you spend nice money and you start to show it off and clown ppl you provoke ppl to go peaking around and maybe stealing!!! considering an fi and 2500-3500rms is a stupid amout of power and is much more then there wal-mart 500 setup!! lol
-
? why not? 2500k is a lot of power and you will need a secondary battery plus the big 3 upgrade just to keep your voltage up to snuff! hey if you do the install right and seal off the back seat from the trunk you wil get nice results! here check out my buddies build log in his cavy i believe his is older then yours! 1997 Cavalier Install Timeline 2005 - 2009 (4 installs)

i think the 1500 would be enough to power a 15inch btl but that is just me what are your goals?? and what is your electrical to support that t2500?
-

second battery wiring question??
CrazyKenKid replied to Hansk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
o common guys he has his system all ready to rock and roll jsut forgot to order 2 fuses! i bet the suppense is killing him to hear how it all sounds put together! lol but at any rate it is unsafe just be carefull and dont' push you luck! plus all your equipment is all new to so don't push the sub to the max either! at any rate it is unsafe but if it was me i would wait... actualy come to think of it when i did my run's of wire i HAD to wiat just liek you b/c i was scared that i woudl burn down my car without the prooper fusing! i remember i placed my order it ended up being back ordered then coming directly to canada (from knu) took a few extra days all and all it took 2wks of not running the wires! lol! o well play it safe is the best advice anyone can offer! you know it is unsafe now so you make the choices! -
second battery wiring question??
CrazyKenKid replied to Hansk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
o you mean you intend to fuse the batteries! as long as you plan to fuse them. YES but keep in mind it is unsafe! -
second battery wiring question??
CrazyKenKid replied to Hansk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
so you are asking if it is okay to NOT fuse under the hood and or near the rear battery? and you do relize the purpose of fusing right? to prevent your car from buring down and to prevent the insurcance company from saying it was your fault and rejecting your claim!! fusing is for safetly normally fuse between both batteries within 12inch-18inch of each battery and the fuse size to use is the the wires limits so if you buy wiring rated for 250amps you fuse at 250amps! and some ppl don't like to fuse FUSED amps! -

Alpine deck plays tuner but not cd's or ipod.
CrazyKenKid replied to Dpaw37's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I can't be certain so since it is bnib I would recommend calling tech support and telling them it is bnib and the issue and see what they recommend! -

CrazyKenKid replied to Dpaw37's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I assume it was used? and is there a return policy? b/c when my cd player crapped out on my h/u it costed around 150$ shipped and labour to get it all repaired! I would also recommend giving tech support a call to see what they think it is and depending on what it is they can give you a quote! -
03 cavy nice!! and I get you! I am a similar way buy some now and buy some more later! but for those 2 amps get the sundown for sure!
-
the 2000's are discontinued and replace with the 2500 but i am sure there are ppl who have them and wnat to sell them so they can get the 2500's also keep in mind the 1500 woudl also be enough seeing that on the correct electical it can put out what 1970rms? or even the sae1200v1/v2 lol ample amouts of power! but like i said earlier it all depends on your GOALS and how far you want to go! stinger digital voltmeter
CrazyKenKid replied to Hansk's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
well thikn about it like this! the batteries are hooked up in parrellel to each other so they share the SAME voltage! and since the amp is hooked up also in parellel to the battery(s) (positive to positive negitive to negative) then whatever the voltage is at the battery terminals will also be at the amp! I hooked mine up to the rear battery b/c it was easier then hooking it up to the front battery. -
Nice job!! congrats! also quick question is that duck tape around each sub? and is that also duck tape around the port? for some odd reason the grey stuff on the port looks solid kind a like deadener?

i retract my statement I have yet to find a satisfied customer in my little world! I am glad to hear your review sir-lancelot! I was mearly gooding off what what other ppl have told me regarding these amps, that and they are power hungry. other then that i have never delt with one i am a sundown kind a guy all the way! as for pricing i haven't looked into the RF. also keep in mind the amp will be suited for the setup and setup goals! and since his budget is unlimited lol!
