Electrical Troubleshooting
CrazyKenKid replied to jalat's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
o i don't know anything about initially charing a cap lol sorry man. i have had to use one. it was just a suggestion. but if i was you i would just hook it up and go from there. and i think the tiny cap is more or less for the first time... rather then all the time b/c once your cap is drained what charges it up again.. the alt/battery bank right? there is no tiny cap to give it a quick jolt of life each time it drained right? but like i said i am NO expert on caps -

and what did you mean by " or how i go about installing it without the capacitor you are supposed to use..." are you saying it is to small? if so don't worry about it it is cap! glorified voltage meter which may or may not help you! you don't know till you try! hell try it out! just hook it up to the front battery (temperately) and see if it fixes dimming if not then you know a cap is useless then lol -

how to tell if the cap is discharged is easy! either find an old screw driver and touch the positive and negative ends of the cap! or get a car light (12vdc) put the neg on the outside of the bulb and the positive on the center! also to see if it is charged just get a dmm and see what the voltage reading is! if it is 0 or close to 0 you are good to go! make sense? -
Electrical Troubleshooting

so a 1000amp alt to support a 1k at 4ohm setup! i wonder how much current that amp is drawing then. ya i am sorry dude i don't know why your lights are dimming then other then the amp can't keep up with the demand other then that you could always try to wire a cap in there..not like it will do much other then maybe prevent the lights from dimming b/c caps dissipate faster then a battery but then to charge back up... you know the deal with caps no need for me to explain it all it is a trade off i guess well you do get a cool voltage meter on a cap though lol!! as for the high gains i can't help you there sorry man anyways get in touch we with me again some day! -
o ya that is only engraved... i do have an engraver at my shop well...a CNC machine that can engrave that is lol. how did he get it on the top like that? i assume that is a custom case right?
-
how cow! that is nuts! i love the case on the 4500! i like it when you can see the guts of an amp! do you make those clear covers for any other of your amps or just the 4500 or was that a 1 of 1 thing? (like you only made one for him/ he made it custom?)

does this ring act as a cooling ring like on the Z15 sub? does it drop the impedance? or how would it effect the ns v1's? off hand? in a good way i hope lol

Sundown Amp Fuse Question
CrazyKenKid replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
yes! no reason why not! a bigger amp (under 200) fuse is fine for that amp and i do know he isn't going to be using the amp to the full potential but might as well get a 200 amp fuse and the 1/0 when he has the money to why wouldn't you. and if the wire is rated for 120amps then yes by all means use 120amp fuse. and remember it doesn't hurt to fuse UNDER the recommended all you are doing is risking blowing the fuse if the amp pulls to much current aka more then 120amps right/. -
another one lol
-
o wow! how much for just a ring? that is a work of art!!! also when i get around to sending you my motors to be reconed to 12's could i get a pair of those on it? or is it not needed or it would harm them? they are NS v1's

Electrical Troubleshooting
CrazyKenKid replied to jalat's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
mike!! how are you doing man? you say you have a dimming issue well first things first check the output of the alt and see what it is putting out! i know with my car i had a dimming issue also then i got my alt freshed up/ upgraded and no more dimming issue and this was with my 2-batcap 2000 in the back of the car and i still had dimming issues. but once i got my alt taken care of everything was good to.. my issue was with my alt, my mechanic said this alt was starting to go which is why my lights started to dimming during a current draw (bass notes) apparently my alt wasn't able to keep up with the instant draw in current he told me even though my voltage was good! now as for high gains no clue other then pre-out voltage being an issue you say it floats at 6volts maybe when music is going the voltage drops a lot! you could try a line driver if so talk to gary about those! he might have one for sale unless he put it back in! -
Sundown Amp Fuse Question
CrazyKenKid replied to slim142's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
for starters once you upgrade to 1/0 wire do not put a 300 amp fuse in there! 200amp fuse is good enough! (200ampsx12volts) with the 200amp fuse you will be able to make more then enough power. now you already know you shouldn't be using 4awg wire on this amp no matter how long the wire is. but since you are using 4awg until you get 1/0 wire fuse to the maximum amperage that the wire can handle! so if 4awg can handle 120amps of current then drop a 120amp fuse! also keep in mind the saz2000 don't have internal fuses so you need an extra fuse to protect this amp! protect your investment and play it safe go with a 200amps fuse! makes sense -
aww ic! thanks for posting that! i guess i was mixing up info a bit.it has been awhile since i asked him that question lol

problem solved! awesome good to hear/read man! enjoy your night and enjoy those killer comps! -
doesn't Jacob recommend fusing a 3500 with a 350amp fuse? and a 150amp fuse for the 1500? so for 2-1500 you coudl draw 400amps and with a single 3500 you could draw 350amps? is that what you are looking for for an answer?
