ya I am fine and so was the other guy, thanks for asking I forgot to mention that above. as for insurance his trucks bumper is covered as for my dad's car (ya dad's car) he will most likely just put a new fender, and lights on it and a power steering pump and be done with it, and he will use a big hammer to fix the hood lol! as for my insurance i have a clean slate so this will be the first! i hope I don't get screwed to much on this BS, fricking school never go to school all you young guys out there it is BAD LMAO! jk! just pay more attention, I know I will be.

In a nut shell they are useless in 95% of installs. here is what they do! you supply them with a 12volt input signal you connect it closest to the h/u as possible to get the cleanest signal to your amp. it will take that 4v pre-out and make it a 4v, 5v, or 6v or watever you desire. a higher pre-out = lower gain setting on your amp. Night and day difference... ya for 50$-100$ a whore can make night and day difference also! lol. the place where these would be needed is, lets say you had to give a input signal to about 10 amps well that signal would get divided 10 times and every time it gets divided the voltage to the amp would be less and less as the amount of amps increase the signal strength would decrease. now if you had a line driver you could increase that signal to give a better/cleaner output make sense?

? what? blonde moment lets break this down some for the slow ppl like me! lol you are saying for your PC to work as an mp3 player you will have to use the RCA input? if so that is also another way to make it all work! if you don't have the RCA plugs you WILL be able to find them on eBay that much I have seen. http://cgi.ebay.com/Alpine-IVA-W505R-IVAW505R-RCA-Plug-Harness-Cable-/380225471192?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58873442d8#ht_1236wt_905 1. now to test out to make sure the 3mm to 3mm will work simply do this first! turn on some music on your PC and plug a pair of head phones into the jack! if that works then you know your PC is good to rock and roll as it will be able to output some waves! 2. now take your Ipod/mp3 player, play some music put a pair of head phones in to verify there is music playing though the head phone jack of the mp3 player, then plug it into your h/u and if you have music then we know your h/u will be able to accept a source via the 3mm jack! now here is the screwy part! it doesn't work as in you don't get any music from the 3mm jack once the Ipod is plugged into the h/u. if that doesn't work then you WILL have to buy a pair of those fancy male RCA to 3mm jack at radio shack or something like that then repeat step 2. and if that still doesn't work then your best bet is to sell the h/u AS is and go from there. Although it is a damn nice h/u I can't see all those things being wrong with it you know, is there some kind a master reset? like in the manual or anything?

lol smart reason for getting the H/U! your reasoning was similar to my reasoning for getting a h/u which would be able to play dvd at a nice price! lol! OMG they didn't even give you an optical out! man I would be bitch pissed!! wow that is harsh! I see what you mean about that special cable! although that cable seems a bit useless to me as the usb slot should be able to play music, heck when i plug my usb stick into my usb spot on my h/u it gives me sound lol! also I am looking forward to your pc install in your van lol! post a link here if it works out!! in a nut shell though I think this deck series was fluke though, no optical out, your Ai-Net is bunged up, you need both usb, and 3mm to make your iPod work, heck I hope your pc to h/u will work! good luck though man! glad I could lend some advise!

The usb should be for control/audio, you shouldn't need to use the 3mm jack also. but don't take that from me as i am anti iPod everything lol! interesting thing though it says you need an iPod adapter to use with this h/u! and yes you can use that 3mm jack to connect to your laptop if you desire. just run a 3mm audio cable from your headphone jack to your h/u although I am not sure what kind a quality you will get from that or how it will sound. now those 2-wires you are referring to look like they have something to do with HD radio.. again to use your laptop as an MP3 player just hook a 3mm audio jack into your headphones jack on the laptop, no wiring required. now on the rear shot of that h/u the optical out looks like it is at the top right, second from the right the one that is in the shape of a upside down "D" there shouldn't be anything in the away aka rubber blocking it that DOOR should just swing open when you put the wire into it! so give it a shot! also keep in mind optical out is mainly for movies recorded in Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 or for hooking up to a gaming system i believe. also can you please explain to me why you are even using the stupid worthless Ai-NET cable in the first place? also what processing unit are you using in-conjunction with your optical cable? and 100$ for an optical cable.. LMAO where did you buy it from? hell on ebay they are cheap!!!

umm burned out a woofer! good times! well you did mention they sounded odd right! so who knows maybe she ripped a spider and it making a screw noise lol! worst comes to worst i guess she things her amp is a tough amp and now it is out to kill her car once it kills the subs lol! those damn evil amps! maybe just wire the subs to a higher impedance along with turning the gain down and replacing a fuse lol!

if it is a blown fuse, replace the fuse turn the gains down and call it a day lol!

aww i C an over rated amp! and a ghetto owner! those ppl are a JOY to deal with! but still 150amps on 12.8v = what 2000watts I am sure that amp can make 2000watts though and on a stock setup ya that is pushing it lol. plus she would need to get at least a kinetik 1400 or 1800 battery right! and those might be out of her price range i would think. at any rate good luck with your situation and good luck telling her the cap has to go.. you know come to think of it you could lay it out like this to her: your cap can support 800watts for 3seconds, so after 3seconds of a bass line the cap is dead and then it starts to pull the power out of the starting battery and starts kick the crap out of your alt and doing this repeatedly is a very good way to end up killing an alt/battery, and murder that cap in the process, would could run you a good 300-400$ (rebuilt alt new battery new cap/battery for the setup) so in the long run to save your self a lot of trouble and headache maybe just get a kinetik 1400 or 1800, o and plus if the batteries give out wouldn't / couldn't that also in turn hurt/ kill the amp? then that way she would be out everything lol. yes i know extreme case scenario but you need to get through to her. it isn't wrong to scare her a bit into doing the right thing is it? O well i am sure you are more then capable to hand this situation and i sure you know what is going on with her setup and how to correct it, the only hard thing to do now is to lay it all out to her in lame man terms and see if she takes your advise! good luck and let us know how it goes!
