How do you determine the 4 Ohm rating for an Amplifier?
CrazyKenKid replied to LEN671's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have ran in the past: SAZ-2500 2 ohm linkable/dual mono - 5000W x 1CH----RMS power, 1 ohm - 2500W x 1CH 2 ohm - 1200W x 1CH 4 ohm - 600W x 1CH SAZ-2000 2 ohm linkable/dual mono - 4000W x 1CH----RMS power, 1 ohm - 2000W x 1CH 2 ohm - 1000W x 1CH 4 ohm - 500W x 1CH SAE 1200 v1 1 ohm - 1200W x 1CH 2 ohm - 600W x 1CH 4 ohm - 300W x 1CH SAZ-1000 2 ohm linkable/dual mono - 1800W x 1CH----RMS power, 1 ohm - 1000W x 1CH 2 ohm - 600W x 1CH 4 ohm - 300W x 1CH SAX-100.4 ----RMS power, 4 ohm stereo - 100W x 4CH ----RMS power, 2 ohm stereo - 160W x 4CH ----RMS power, 4 ohm bridged - 320W x 2CH SAX100.2 100 x 2 watts @ 4 ohms 200 x 2 watts @ 2 ohms 400 x 1 watts @ 4 ohms bridged Orion 2500D 1200 watts x 1 chan. @ 4 Ohms 1700 watts x 1 chan. @ 2 Ohms 2500 watts x 1 chan. @ 1 Ohm Orion 1200D 425 watts x 1 chan. @ 4 Ohms 725 watts x 1 chan. @ 2 Ohms 1200 watts x 1 chan. @ 1 Ohm Orion 8002 200 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 Ohms 400 watts x 2 chan. @ 2 Ohms 800 watts x 1 chan. @ 4 Ohms (Bridged) and that is all the ones i can remember off the top of my head! notice a patern? -

bi-amping my components
CrazyKenKid replied to smashedz28's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I am pretty sure bi-amping is for running active aka 1 channel controlling 1 speaker at a time if bi-amping is off you will be running 1 set of speakers off of one channel on the amp! so essentially you can use a 2-channel amp (cheaper) to power a single set of components or you can buy a 4 channel and run 2-sets of components off of a single 4 channel amp! does that make sense? currently I have 2-sets of components running off of a single 4 channel amp! and those 8 speakers, Zapco RB 5.25 are being run with this amp! (sax 100.4) i guess you can call my speaker configuration setup passive! -

CrazyKenKid replied to stevemead08's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
If you are using a real test house it'll be somewhere between $1k and $2k an amp. just out of curiously what is would be the name of a real test house? -

CrazyKenKid replied to stevemead08's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
that is it time to get some amps bench tested properly! we all should pool some money and get some amps tested properly! actually I would love to see how much it would cost to properly bench test an amp and I would be game to toss in some money to cover the testing fee's although this might be unrealistic if the cost is way to high vs the amount of people who want to know the truth! as for amps I would gladly send one of my SAZ-2500 in for a proper test! and I am sure I can also get a atomic 7k and a AQ3500 along with a NS1 (the 4500 replacements) and I think some people wouldn't mind sending in a Cresendo 3500 and I think we could talk someone into sending in one of his DC amps lol! -
I don't think that... but for me it worked out that i saved on shipping and final cost if i purchased it all as sundown! rather then mixing and matching and paying though the ass on shipping at least when you buy from the same vendor you save on shipping costs and some times you get lucky enough to get a little discount!

Any update on the state of your amp?

so what ended up being wrong with it? and was it an expensive fix? power amp failure. about $320 likely was ran at too low of an ohm load or low voltage before me owning it. wow some people need to buy DC volt meters and keep that VDC in check! glad to hear the repair wasn't over 500$ though! although 320$ is still getting up there. hey on the bright side at least it was repairable and you don't have to search for a replacement and blow even more coin on something that might also be sketchy eh! -

Crescendo bc2000 tuning help
CrazyKenKid replied to sps1989's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
yoou should be using a 50-60hz tone at 0db if that helps also tuning the gains via DMM is a great way to start but you will soon realize that you will be modulating the gains as time goes on as in part to the songs you like to listen to and how those songs are recorded! -
