    amp blown, fuse now??

0.03 volts= no power going into your amp. do you have one long run of wire from the front to the back? or do you have batteries in the trunk?

    H/O Alt or Not?

wow that charger sounds pretty good!! and for 75$ nice deal! i knwo the kinetik one goes for about 100$ and the kinetik has a Reconditioning (Desulfation) which sounds pretty cool! but i will do some looking into this one you suggested and i might jsut end up geting it if shipping to canada is resonable! thanks! Kenneth

    H/O Alt or Not?

that goes to show u how undercharged they were using stock alt. Using stock alt and only reading 13.1 as soon as alt is shut off is BAD... Either the batts were heavily discharged or the regulator was on the verge of breaking. after i learned that 13.1 = doom that is when i made up my mind to jsut get the upgrade to a h/o! and yes after playing at full tilt i let the car charge up the batteries some to at least 14.1volts before i shut off the car and yes i do believe the batteries were around half way charged but then again i didn't slam my system ALL the time either. next thing for me to buy is a battery charger any thoughts? i am looking at a kinetik battery charger! (sorry to jack your thread for a second)

    H/O Alt or Not?

That's not wise for longevity. Did they change the rectifier, cooling, etc...? If all they did is rewind it like nearly all local shops do then yea, it will do the amperage at max output, but idle will be VERY BAD compared to reputable companies and heat buildup will be worse than having one built from start. o no i got full upgrade of the alt. i knwo a rewind is what he wanted to do and i am like buddy! lol! he changed it all even some other things which i didn't take to memory. and yes i know at idle my alt doesn't seem to be the best but hey it gets my batteries to a steady 14.4-14.6 when my music is at about half way so the h/o definitialy does help out a lot in the charging!

    H/O Alt or Not?

i didn't buy a H/O i got my stock alt upgraded to a h/o!! the upgrade kit costed me 55$ and labor was free! (i know the guy) if you pop into your local starter and alt shop just ask them about upgrading your alt rather then buying a h/o

    H/O Alt or Not?

for the longest time i have never had a h/o on my grandam. my stock is also a 105amp alt. my setup is a 100.4 and a saz2000 with 2 batcap 2000's in the rear and a stock battery in the front and a 15inch NS! ever since i got the h/o alt (200amp) i have noticed my batteries staying at a higher voltage for longer! with the stock alt my batteries held a 13.1 ish voltage at full tilt after playing for abuot 5mins ish. now with the new alt my batteries hold around 13.9ish! but i only see those voltage at around 2000rpm's. like any alt you need to have your foot on the gas to get the full amperage!
  7. Nice wright up. I was actualy going to p/m you about these fluxcaps b/c i was interested in them and you showed knowledge of them on another post! i think you explained your self quite well congrats! and thanks for sharing it was well worth the read and i have learned that 18volts is way out of my league and very expensive!
  8. wtf? is this an informational thread? lol!!

    Which HU?

I used to own a 800prs and i jsut have to say it was the best sounding H/U i have ever heard and the functionality was fricken AMAZING and easy to use!! so in a nut shell EASY to use, BEST sounding and look sharp! but BUT once my pico fused blow all hell broke loose! i had alt wines through the ass and hissing noisines though the speakers at low volumes WHEN you are using an AMP! now if you are goign to plug your speakers into the h/u and not use a amp you don' thave to worry about the pico fuse thing! but with exteral amplification a blown pico is the end! lol! other then that i jsut took it out and installed it in my dads truck and i purchased a JVC AVX77 and i swear man this h/u is pretty close and wher it lacks it makes up for it with the other features it offers!! if you have any questions about the 800 you can send me a p/m about them! Kenneth

    H/u

OKay first off i am looking for a new h/u to replace my current one! i DO NOT even know if a h/u like this exist or is even worth the cash! here is what i am looking for 3.5inch screen or bigger but not 7inch(touch if possible) 1.5din i currently have a kenwood 817 flip out h/u and i don't care for the flip out thing plus i don't watch movies all that much I can NOT fit a double din in my dash and single dins look a litlte crappy in my 1.5din mounting area. basically i want to get a 1.5din screen if possible, touch would be awesome. but maybe i am looking up the wrong seach idea's b/c i can't seem to find any! so i thought i would jsut post a thread and see what ppl know about or if they even exist! i drive a 95 grand am! Let me know Kenneth

    Eclipse CD7200 mkii

I was actually looking at this one when I first started my head unit search...makes me happy somebody suggested the one I really liked! what turned me on to that h/u was when i had my flipout 7inch monitor! i was really happy with the touch screen and the ability to watch movies and playback dvd mp3 disk on it! so when i went searching for a similar one that 5.4inch monitor just pop out like a sore thumb and i had to have it! I got rid of my 7inch flipout b/c it blocked my vents and the h/u itself wouldn't retract. sure i spend 450 on ebay for it (CAD around 400USD) but i am over it and i love this h/u! OO AND worthy of mension is it's bluetooth feature! keep in mind though it is bluetooth 1.2 (comonly used on LG cell phones) this is not bluetooth 1 or 2 but 1.2 the inbetween bluetooth! also beable to change my backgroudn to anythign is always hot! i can make the pic of me and my gf or a pic of some other girl(s) if you catch my drift lol!! happy h/u hunting and if you get the avx77 it is killer h/u i recommend it!

    Eclipse CD7200 mkii

how about a JVC AVX77? I have that h/u installed and i jsut love it!! the awesome touch screen and easy to use ipod features! plus the abiltiy to put your own pics as back ground is awesome! PLUS you can even watch movies and play DVD MP3 disk on it!!! it has all the bells and whistles plus looks awesome! like i say i own it and i love it and i am glad i purchased it! but i purchased mine off of EBAY b/c it was much cheaper (bnib of course) http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDAVX77/JVC-KD-AVX77.html?search=jvc+avx77&tp=20217 check it out! it is the h/u i own and i have owned about 3 head units as of now and this one is my favorite! Volt meter

are there amp meters like these? would hooking one up to the amp help any? so it would be an amp meter on the amp and a volt meter on the amp, also another volt meter for the battery up front. would that do anything? you can hook those meter up to the amp or battery! i would recommend hooking it up to the amp b/c you will get an actually voltage reading of what is going into your amp. i knwo that what voltage you read at the battery posts is a little big higher then what the amp is actualy getting! so putting a voltmeter on the actual amp is a good idea! as for getting another one for the front battery no need to! your batteries will be wiring in parellel so there voltage will be the same or really close to the same voltage! does that make sense? sorry it is a litle early for me it is 5am here and i jsut got home from my 12hour shift lol!!

    Ouch

for some odd reason, i am thinking that if the mosfets go, aren't those normally the last thing on the board to go? so there will be more issue then just a mosfet replacement job? but i could be wrong and i am sure someone on here knows amps MUCH better then i do and what happens when the mosfet go!

    Volt meter

well whenever using another battery you should always have a volt meter on it so you can monitor the voltage that your audio equipment is getting! like if you play your system at full tilt and you notice the voltage is getting low jsut turn it down some and if you didn't have a voltmeter you wouldnt' know when the volts get low and if the votls get to low then something could happen to your amp! wiring a voltmeter is pretty easy if you buy this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350237879454&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm38%26_nkw%3D350237879454%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 or the red one http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Stinger-SVMR-Digital-Volt-Display-Voltmeter-Red_W0QQitemZ120454340870QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0ba36106&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 they have 3wires one pos, one neg, and one REM! also make sure to calibrate the voltmeter before using also when calibrating do not twist the rem and pos wire together you will get messed up readings!!

    SAZ-2000 vs SAZ-1000

i would just get 2 saz1000d and run them straped at 2ohm (each amps will see a 1ohm load) it will be a lot safer and you will not void warrenty ( .5ohm = no more warrenty) but that is just my input on your question!
