CrazyKenKid replied to smullen's topic in Sundown Audio
so how many subs are you planning on running? also on the back of your h/u how many sub pre-outs do you have? just one? (i mean do you have a left and a right or just one rca) -

aww you do! sorry i didn't even think to take a look! and good luck with your build! i already have subscribed lol!! and i am sure you will love your h/u! -

o the e-brake is the same on ALL h/u which play movies Just ground them out! and makes sure you ground the h/u and the parking brake to the car's chassie to elimate a bunch of issues! just like anyother h/u!! enjoy and let us knwo hwo the instal goes of either h/u and be sure to do a build/install log of everything when you are done! -

get the jvc! i have a jvc and i love it! ( i have the avx77) the jvc h/u i have works flawlessly!! plus that one jvc you have listed SHOULD work the same way! check out this video on my h/u the 2 units seem to be similar in the ipod of things! http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_105KDAVX77/JVC-KD-AVX77.html?search=jvc+avx+77&ssi=0 i went jvc and i am never looked back! for the jvc it gives you a USB in so all you need is an ipod to usb cable and you are good to rock! also don't forget to check out the video in my link it gives you an explanition of how it works! enjoy! and jvc all the way man! -
Question on the Signal wiring to Multiple amps
CrazyKenKid replied to smullen's topic in Sundown Audio
well for starters no high end RCA's on SOME sundown amps. some ppl claim that the high end rca have no negative effect on the amp some ppl have had issues with older versions of the saz line and highend rca's. so better just play it safe and use cheaper ones! now your next question is an interesting one you wnat to run 4saz2000 so i have to ask you will 4saz be pushing 4 subs? or 2 subs? or 1sub? -
this might help, list of amp classes i didnt look this over, but i think its the right one haha this link talks about ampliers so from what ppl have been telling me so far and what i have been reading it would seem that mosfets in amps would be nearly the only ideal application? interesting! i thought it talked about different kinds and how they are used, maybe i have the wrong article. actually i am going to do some more reading on the site i think i had it wrong on my initial view of it!

So last weekend our teach put us in groups of 5 and give each group a topic. all the topics are related to electrical components and what not. My group was lucky enough to get FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTORS(FETS) and then we broke it up into sections for each person to do, for the part i have to do "research applications and why they are used" and then i started to think doesn't car audio amplifiers have fets in them? or rather called mosfet? so i was just wondering if anyone could start me out or lend a hand on where i should be looking for information and maybe recommend a creditable site? also i was thinking about dropping db-r an e-mail asking him but i don't know if that would be a good idea b/c I image he is busy and wouldn't have time for crap like this. and no i haven't done any looking around yet this is my first time opening my note book since last weekends. for rest of today i plan on using the Google-machine and Wikipedia and whatever else comes my way to help me start this project and hopefully get it nearly completed tonight. as I find info I will be posting it here and hopefully getting feedback from the members on here regarding my project! so any and all help will be appreciated and thanks for your time in advances Kenneth

also it says they are used in amplifiers b/c of there low noise?and effeciency? can anyone point me in the right direct on this one? (this came from a peer in class)

bcae1.com go to number 79 on the list on the right why thankyou!!!

i just seen some interesting blurp "Field-effect transistors exist in two major classifications. These are known as the junction FET (JFET) and the metal-oxide- semiconductor FET (MOSFET)." and "field-effect transistor (FET) is a type of transistor commonly used for weak-signal amplification (for example, for amplifying wireless signals" does that sound legit? so FET is jsut a general term and more commonly called MOSFET and JFET?

Wiring for my amps..
CrazyKenKid replied to Nvr2loud22's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
since you are running 3 diffent amps i would recommend using this fused distro, i have in the past and it works quite nicely and very easy to install http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KNF-23 i would use 4gauge for all 3 amps and use 1/0 into the fused distro. as for fuse sizes i like to match the fusing on the amp its self. so if the sae1200 has 90 amps of fusing then use a 90amp fuse! just look at the amps and add up there fuses to get a total number and use that to determine what to fuse each lead from the distro block! as for hooking up your d1200 just hook it in parellel to the front battery (positive to positive and negative to negative) and be sure to use 2 fuses on the run of positive wire! one fuse holder near each battery to be safe! and i would recommend using 1/0 wire to wire the batteries up. the more runs the better as long as you can fit them all!! here is the fuse hold i use and i like to use a 250-300 amp fuse in it! http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=FH-20 any more question please feeel free to ask and also don't forget to do the big 3!! enjoy -

fuse help
CrazyKenKid replied to [email protected]'s topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
a 30 amp fuse? question: 1.what gauge wire are you using? if you don't know please acuratly measure the wire, 2.what is the fusing on the amp its self, if any? 3. how much power is that amp outputting? 4. did you install it all yourself? or a shop i would use a 30amp fuse on 10gauge wire for 8gauge i would recommend stepping up the fuse size to like 50 or 60, and i for some reason i can't make out what kind of fuse holder you are using? mini anl? or agu? can you please clarify this for me? also how long have you had this system up and running for? like did you get it installed say last year and just now you are getting issueS? -
looks l nice! and congrats on your purchase!

So I have heard to get optimum spl out of my box and best proforance out of my sub I would have to find the resonant frequency of my car. So I fired up the SSA forum seachers and i didn't come across so I imediatly fired up the google machine and did some seaching and here is my findings: I can use math by: Now you measure the distance from the cone to the meter(the whole path it takes). remember the soundwave comes out of the front of the cone at 90 degress(straight) and out the back at 180. once you get the distance from the cone to the meter placement in inches, you divide that into 13,560. you will probobly get a high number, which is suspected. Since its 90 degrees, 1/4 waveform will be used. So 13,560/distance=x/4. or using a sealed box a sub and a meter. here are the 2 site i borrowed info from: http://forum.realmofexcursion.com/competitions-organization-meets-discussion/28614-how-figure-out-your-cars-frequency.html and http://audioforum.termpro.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=print_topic;f=6;t=000944 now I haven't done either of these yet but i will try out the measurment idea tomrrow ish and get back to you at what i get. also it has been recommend to me to use 41.5hz!! so we will see how close i get with math. NOW onto my question who has done either of these methods and more importantly has anyone done both of these methods and then compared them? If so what did you find? is it best to use a speaker or jsut work it out with math? thanks for your time and input Kenneth

i got another question know. if i set my tuning in my box to the PERFECT tune and i am not competeing full time was all that just a waste? like ppl who perfectly tune there car's are like spl head ppl and hit high ass numbers on the meter and what not plus they sink all kinds of time and money into these builds and live for shows and the next big one! so is it really worth it for me to go though all of this and building multiple box's! and what not. or should i jsut tune it to 41.5hz and call it a day lol.

i think i found out how to do it! thanks guys!!! and
