SSA Blackout Special!!!! | EXTENTED! Thru Sunday&#
ScreamBloodyGorguts replied to Aaron Clinton's topic in SSA® Store
My 12" xcon just shipped out today, w00t. -
Couldn't of said it any better. What coil config are the drivers? As long as you can wire the subs together to 1ohm then strap them. I believe you mean to two ohms, if you where wired to 1, each amp would be seeing .5 ohms
-
Could an Xcon take 3000 daily?

2 icon 12's vs. 1 xcon 15
ScreamBloodyGorguts replied to hardballer7's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
Yes I have heard icons and installed icons. Can't say the same for xcons unfortunately. And I was quite impressed by them, both in sound and yes, ones i've heard did bang pretty hard. Its an excellent driver, and I've talked a couple people into buying them. However, if one of my friends wanted me to recommend something to them and came up and said screw sq, I want loud! ... It wouldn't be my first choice is all. -
For Sale Sundown SAZ-4500D - SSA Car Audio Forum buy this guys amp, and get a big ass alternator and battery bank... or get in on the presale and buy two saz2500d's if you can wait SAZ-2500D Pre-Sale OPEN - SSA Car Audio Forum Either way be prepared to spend more money on the electrical to support these amps than the amps themselves

yes they can get "loud" depending on your definition, the Icons and Xcons are very good sq based drivers that can get "loud", but I wouldn't recommend them to somebody looking for loud and sq isn't a factor. Yes you can get "loud", and its mostly about the install anyways, but you're going about it wrong, I'd get a woofer that was designed to get loud, not a sq driver. Lots of drivers to pick from. I personally have serious wood for the new sundown Zv2 ~1500w driver more suited to your goals. But if you could even get your hands on one right now I'm not sure. -
Well if it was me, I'd use the Infinite Baffle 3, in an infinite baffle application. But thats just me.

I'm sorry, but WRONG. yes, they are both compressed. But there is a HUGE difference between lossy(mp3) and lossless formats such as flac. lossless formats compress without throwing tons of data out, they keep it, it is an exact replica of the source. Err, sort of. Large difference in what data is there yes, but most importantly there will be NO difference to your ears. Don't believe me? Easy test. Rip a well recorded song onto a disc in FLAC. Save it. Convert to 320kps. Convert the 320kps song to FLAC (note it will still whatever was lost before lost again). Have someone blindly A/B you both songs, or even easier just have them label them and try to pick which one is the mp3. I guarantee you won't be able to pick the one that is compressed. I've done this with some of my friends and they can't pick the 192's even. A few years back when I was ripping my library, I did have somebody blind A/B me..... And I could pick out the 320s from the lossless. However, I am sure the technology has improved over the past couple years, and I may not be able to hear a difference if I tried today.

Hifonics brutus BRZ 1200.1 or Sundown SAZ 1000.1
ScreamBloodyGorguts replied to ExplicitYourSelf's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
the sundown did that at 13v into 1.3ohms in that test..... cea is 14.4v at 1ohm....... I'd take the sundown any day of that if for nothing more than the customer service and reliability of having an amp built like a tank. -
No cant since they are still two different amps inside, just cause they make around the same rms doesnt mean they can be strapped together. But are they two different amps or is this wrong?:

Don't worry about it, the BL will slay stuff like that, rap "lows" aren't really all that low when you compare it to say, pipe organ music, which will be too low for you to actually hear anyways lol..........
-
xmax is only one number of many, it is pointless to compare drivers based on only one spec. The BL gets louder than the Q, it is that simple, and it will have no problem with the "lows" if your idea of lows is what rap has in it, what will you be listening to and what are your goals?

Differences between sub sizes
ScreamBloodyGorguts replied to thebiggmann12's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
Yes, you could use void free birch to save some weight, or that trupan light fisher customs uses if you can find it. Neither of them are gonna be as cheap as mdf, but hey, save some weight, gain a little mpg maybe and hopefully make your car not as slow. -
Differences between sub sizes
ScreamBloodyGorguts replied to thebiggmann12's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
I love my svt.... but i hate it. Svt foci are huge pieces of crap that always have something break, not a car for anybody that doesn't have there own shop, it'd make me broke if i couldn't fix it myself lol.... Usually nothing huge but little things here and there... but then I have to drive something else for whatever reason, and I remember why I love my svt. NOTHING feels as good, NOTHING handles like it, and although it may not hang with the v8 muscle cars off the line, its a peppy little sob and is just fun to drive. I imagine that big ass niteshade must be insane in that little car. And I imagine that a 15 would still be pretty sick. The theory is that double the cone area is 3db on paper right? And 3db is about what it takes for the difference to really be memorable right? A 15 has roughly 176" of cone area and an 18 is 254" ...... about 100" shy of double. So on paper it doesn't look like it would be too noticeable..... Although to just think about it your gut would say... 18? Hell yeah that will be louder than a 15. In the end, nobody can really say for sure till its done. And a 15 is still gonna be quite a box, still gonna be heavy, is it worth it to bother downsizing? Again who knows. Hey if you do it and you decide you want louder and have some extra cash burnin a hole, you can always sell it and try a v2 and moar power haha. Heck with that 1500w, the zv2 is supposed to be super efficient... But before i go off on some other random direction, I'm going to quit and go to bed lol. edit: ok i lied, I'm back. If you gain your backseats that would be cool, although you'll still probably be at the same weight due to the seats being 50-60 pounds iirc, and who knows what the seats will do to the sound? -
Differences between sub sizes
ScreamBloodyGorguts replied to thebiggmann12's topic in Subwoofers / Speakers
haha, i have the svt, the "fast" version of his car.... and i can easily tell when i have only one passenger in my car. i put on a full half a second in the quarter when i carry an average size passenger. I've toyed with the idea of a big system in it, but then i'm like on second thought...... haha -
Re-Cone didn't work out, need some help
ScreamBloodyGorguts replied to hhowell1990's topic in Fi Products
Oh you are so smart. Duh but one is way cheaper than the other thats what i meant. Thats the order they go by on the site to, so dont waste your time telling me what i said is stupid and keep to yourself and i will do the same. We help eachother here man no bashing. So hush. buddy. Ask somebody which sub is the best if its going in a sq install......... now ask the same for a spl install...... You'll get two completely different answers. None of their subs are absolutely the best all around, which sub is the best depends on your goals. The btl is the "best" if best means loudest..... But the Q is the best, if best means sq. That arbitrary statement of 3rd best is just wrong. Although personally the op does not sound like a Q buyer to me.
