Ain't that the truth Boy did you say it. We have two shops in this pathetic place. When my buddy went looking for a box (didn't want to wait for me to build him one and with my schedule lately I don't really blame him, lol) for his pair of 10" Black Fiday X's he went to both shops. One had a dual 10 slot ported enclosure for $80 and he called me to ask if it was worth it. I had him ask the salesman what the internal volume was, what the tuning was and what it was constructed with. All the salesman could answer was that it was built for the Treo subs they sell and according to the salesman no other box they sold got as loud as that one. So I told him to forget that one, and before he left the shop the salesman dropped the price down to $50 just trying to make the sale. So he went to the other shop, walked in and asked the same questions about the dual 10 slot enclosure they had. They not only knew exactly what the internal volume was, they knew what it was tuned to, what it was constructed of, and even offered to install his subs in it for him to test and make sure he liked the sound of it before he purchased it at $100. Despite all that customer service and knowledge at the decent shop most people still go to the crappy shop cuz they have lower prices and have been around many years longer. God forbid they ever ask any questions though, they just get BS'ed and the prices lowered until they buy something. That was a damn long story, but the point is no matter where you live there's always shops that don't know anything beyond what the instructions on the box or in the manual state. Often times they don't have but one experienced installer either which generally leaves the installation work with a lot to be desired. I have always dreamed of opening a shop as well and while the likelihood of it ever happening is slim to none it would still be nice.

Can't wait to see some pics of that baffle!

So what's goin in it? Glad to hear that business is back on track bro. Looking forward to seeing it get finished.

Oh don't we both know it. One more SA8 to sell and I'll have an XCON 10 heading my way!!!!

I think I remember reading somewhere that they're supposed to the an internet only sourced brand that is geared more toward quality over output. Then again I couldn't remember where I was going when driving around town three different times earlier today, so what the hell do I know.
-
Not just the price, but the power. It doesn't take a huge amount of power to get huge amounts of output from them.

Again, I agree with him, lol. Like I said before, I hate LOC's. -

Yes they do. I doubt the factory sub amp puts out any real power to speak of and would be the ideal source to use on the LOC to give input to the amp for another sub. I personally hate using LOC's, but sometimes there's just no choice, especially when the person doesn't want to lose the factory HU. -
It should be great tuning for Rock, and most rap doesn't get much lower than the upper 30's anyway. If the tuning really is 38hz then it shouldn't be too shabby at all. It wouldn't hurt tho to use some test tones and verify exactly what the tuning is before going crazy with it.

I've only had one in my possession at any time, but I'm constantly talking about them. That's why I can't wait to have my XCON in my Jimmy and show off some of the goodness.

^^^^ Sounds like a good idea to me. -
That always make it tough to know for sure. If it is in the 38hz neighborhood it will likely still perform fairly decent, just won't dig quite as deep.

I'd love to be a dealer for SSA.... I'm already a kind of a sales rep, lol....

What's it tuned to? That will most likely be the deciding factor on the SQ and SPL it will provide.

And no, Fi doesn't mess with 8's... The IB3's are sold in 12's, 15's, and 18's.... sorry no 10's according to the website... -

Going larger would help some I'm sure, there's no replacement for displacement. One major thing that might need done is making sure the IB is sealed off really well. Look at how many places the rear wave has to come back through the rear deck, back seats, etc. Sealing it up and sound deadening the back of the car will likely help a great deal and would be very necessary in the event you replace it with something bigger and more powerful. -
In the proper enclosure it will sound just fine and give some decent output. The enclosure has more to do with it than anything else of course. BTW I have one left for sale, BNIB, D2 coils, just in case you're interested.

WOOHOO!!! Got two of the 8's sold, now to get the last one gone and it's XCON time!!!
-
I'm getting a 10" and with Aaron's permission and Nick's help two 10" XCON passive radiators....

Damn browser.... double post FTL....

and I'm walking backwards..... lol.... The whole lot of you guys are moving lightyears faster than me. I have big plans but no time or monies to do anything with any of them.

I'd love to know how the Bravox 3-ways are treating you. Can't wait til the current comps in the van die so I can install the 3-ways I got. I don't know about too much port area, but I'm not so sure the internal volume is quite right with all that pvc pipe in there. I gotta admit you spent some real time figuring out how to cram all that pipe and those fittings in there though, damn.

lol, I hate doing that... I always delete something I need and have a hell of a hard time finding again. I'm wondering how much doing this would or could be in demand. Given Mark and Aaron's blessing, and any other manufacturer that could possibly be involved, I think people might like to be able to import the exact driver they're using for a particular build. It could and would help with figuring out how things fit, whether or not a certain configuration would be possible, all sorts of stuff. If enough people would want them, and the manufacturers wouldn't mind the use of a few pictures for the textures on the cones and stuff I think it would be fun to model up subs to complete sketches like I did.

Google Sketchup, HERE's the download link. It's a great free program that's fairly intuitive to use and can do some really cool stuff and is actually pretty powerful.
