Alternator Voltage Help
altoncustomtech replied to ChaosWarlord26's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I can see where it would work quite well, like it is for lancelot's friend. To find out the value of the resistor you need, all you need is Ohm's law, BUT if you want to make it adjustable all you need is a potentiometer. If you wire the potentiometer as a rheostat, you can turn the voltage up and down and adjust it a little if you'd like to. -
Hello? Where'd everybody go?
-
sometimes you feel like a nut..... sometimes you don't.....
-
Wow..... glad I'm not the only one. Same thing here, de-ja-vu all the time with little things. Some small conversation, a part from a movie, whatever the case may be it happens a lot to me as well. I've always felt these little "premonitions" were a good thing just never knew how to handle them. Freaked the wife out at the movies a couple of months ago when I recited about 4 lines from the movie that were never in the previews.

Nice...... looks like they're doing better than mid-basses for sure now..... lol.....
-
I like it pop, looking forward to the vid.
-
Yeah pop, now we gotta have pics and vids!!
-
Poor Poor Poor little car. Almost afraid of what will happen to it if you put two BTL's in it. LOL, I'm tuned.
-
LOL, right on! I can't wait until I can get busy and get mine done! I took a week's vacation this week as it's the kids' spring break and I'm spending all my time with them instead of working on this stuff which has been tough cuz the weather has been great for it. At any rate I'm REAL happy to hear you're up and boomin', tuned in for the pics and vids.

Here, check this out, short read but gives you an idea. Wood Glue Showdown

C'mon guys, I'm like an addict needing my fix here!! LOL
-
It looks great, my wife loves that green (what's the color code on that green anyhow?) and congrats on the score.... and just think, as you break in the sub it will only play lower and LOUDER..... btw hopefully I can start a thread with a similar title soon myself... lol
-
AWESOME!!!! woohoo.... glad it was an easy fix... The description of what is was doing sure sounded like something was out of phase... glad that's all it was.... ROCK ON DUDE!
-
all it takes is one coil out of phase or something along those lines and it will cause problems like this....
-
Are you sure you got the coils and subs wired correctly???? take a 9v battery and make sure both of them move the same direction.... or at all..... you could have a coil out of phase
-
Give us the specs..... there's got to be something incorrect somewhere I think....
-
Okay Chop, at your request pics of the tubes from the rear, side, how they stay put, and the Neutrik Speakon connector that makes them easy to disconnect for removal: So there ya go.... sorry they're dirty and the paint is starting to get beat up.... they see alot of abuse, in and out of the van, piling stuff on top, my wife's crazy driving

I'll get a few taken and put up asap...

Hiphonics bxi 2610d Any good?
altoncustomtech replied to Typicaljawaiian's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have a few Hifonics amps, all the '06 editions. I don't know if the '10 editions are any better, but I personally think you can save a few more $$$ and buy something better. You might look into Audiopipe if you're on a tight budget, lots of guys seem to have good luck with them. Patience is a good thing to practice though. If you can wait, you should save your money. That's just my 2 cents worth. -
Wow, they look REALLY good in there like that. Can't wait for the vid.
-
Okay..... I guess I'll get these up here finally.. here's a few of the SA-8's and SAZ-1500: And a few of the Q's, SAX-100.4 and the SAZ-2000D:

Thanks guys! Chop, those are custom built. The company I was working for had about 4 10+ foot lengths of 12" schedule 80 PVC they were just going to throw away!! I grabbed them up and found a use for them. Used the belled ends to install the subs in, used 3" aero port on the rear of the enclosure. Made them VERY light in comparison to MDF and therefore easy to remove which was the goal. They've held up real well and going to the new enclosure will a quite a change for us since neither me nor my wife will be removing it by ourselves once the subs are loaded in it. (She can't move it by herself now, lol)

help with deciding on dual 1's or dual 2's
altoncustomtech replied to streetbeater07's topic in General Fi
I would suggest getting the dual 2's for a few reasons. First of all, .67 is quite close to .5 ohm which is fairly hard on an amplifier and requires a very reinforced electrical to run it. Second of all, music is dynamic and the impedance actually changes with the frequency that's played, continuously. It's NEVER the same impedance due to that AND heat which causes impedance rise in the first place. IMO unless you're doing this install to burp and get #'s on the TL you won't notice that much of a difference between the power output from 1.333 to .67, it will be easier on your amp and help it live longer, and easier on your electrical. I believe there's a topic on here on just that subject. Just my .02 -
I think it's easy enough to say that for the proven performance and customer service, if you can swing the bills go for the Sundown....... Crescendo is new, yet to prove themselves (and I'm partial to underdogs) so it's a bit cheaper and a few early reviews mentions its a great amp......... So again.... if you can swing the $$$ for the sundown then go for it, if you need to save the green then try the Crescendo..... That's my best recommendation at this point....
