Weird, why would they give anything for the SA-8? Its not even from their company. I'm curious as to where he found a # for either company on their respective websites. I've been all over both and never saw a phone # anywhere.

why is that? The thing is i had subs on this amp 2 12" JLw6v2s and pulled them out and put the flatlynes in the only change i made was that i lowerd my lpf to compensate for the kick bass system. In the end i come into this situation oh well i guess thats life. Did you just drop them into the same enclosure(s)? If so that could VERY well be another problem if the enclosure size and tuning (if ported) is off.

Feedback on SSA Customer Service
altoncustomtech replied to altoncustomtech's topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
This sounds like a classic example of someone who feels their needs/wants are clearly the revolving point of the earth. Wait, that's a little harsh, but still, when you're dealing with a company this size. Big enough to be able to build and sell QUALITY products all over the world, but not so big as they have hundreds of employee's at their disposal and able to take someone off of one project to dedicate to another. You my friend, have to wait in line like everyone else, don't like the clearly spelled out time it takes to build/rebuild drivers and take care of business then go to the nearest big box store and buy a Kicker. Otherwise, shut up, hang on and wait your turn. Your order is NO more important nor any less important than anyone else's. You even said they told you it would be a few weeks, from what I read about your whining they did EXACTLY what they said they would. I believe this was handled as well as it could possibly have been. I think you guys do a great job taking care of your customers and I know for a fact I couldn't handle people acting like that and keep my cool for very long. -
Dude that is too much. She looks like she's really getting a kick outta helping with that, and you're one brave man. My kids woulda removed the guard before anyone could notice and do some damage.... lol.

Okay, okay, you've talked me into it. I just have the one so far and while I'd would've liked to get more for a long time now, like many other things, it's waiting until I got the spare $ before worrying about it. I got this done about 8 years ago and the only reason I got this one is because a close friend of mine inherited a substantial amount of $, loved getting tatts but hated to go to the shop alone. He had offered to pay for the tatt on whoever would go so I spoke up and this is what I got. He tried talking me into some real nice ones ($400-$500) but none of them really spoke to me, so I chose this one. I was supposed to go back and get it filled the rest of the way in but never did, I like it like this as it makes it look A LOT older than it is. Anyway, here it is, in all it's simplicity. Sorry for the low quality, cell phone camera FTL, also please ignore the wild color scheme in the bathroom, the wife is a bit of a crazy color nut. wolf paw yin-yang..... nothin' special as I mentioned before....

Damn, that's some REALLY nice work guys. I haven't bothered to post my one as it seems pretty trivial compared to the art you guys all have. I've always wanted to do a big piece on my back representing the kids and my wife, but have yet to find an artist to draw it up. Reading through here has got my interest peaked again though, just might go talking with a few artists around here to get something started again.

The best part is handing them to someone who isn't expecting it...... LOL.... EVEN my wife's eye's bulged out of her head when I handed her the box. They look so small when they're in the shipping box, until you pull it up and out of there. Fool's everyone you hand them to, LOL. Yep, get some vids up man! BTW that little girl is adorable.

Showing off some flexx, and testing some oldies...
altoncustomtech replied to the_dude's topic in Videos
Now that's the stuff..... It looks great. Looking forward to seeing it done with the fiberglass and such. Good job! -
Man, your entire build is absolutely fantastic. I hope to one day get to this level in SQ. Can't wait to see the final results, you're putting in so much time and hard work I know it will be amazing. Keep on keepin' on!

Damn..... that is some flex. Sounded pretty clean too, would love to see some pics of the installation! -
I said it once, I'll say it again. That poor poor poor little car. LOL It's lookin' good man. I always figured something like a Metro is perfect for this hobby. It's cheap and no one really cares of it gets destroyed in the process.

I have a X-991 book for it said 3 (front, rear, sub non-fade) at 4v. So I went to Kenwood's site and pulled up the book for the 993, said the same thing. The book didn't give an indication there was any difference in voltage between any of the pre outs. Kenwood KDC-X993 Manual page 58.
-
That would explain the clipping then. That Kenwood unit has 4v preouts. If you had it set to 2v, then that would be like having double the input power, would it not?
-
Indiana is the same way, saw freezing temps he last two nights. It's 62 and sunny now, lol. OP, welcome to the Forum!!
-
I'm not familiar with Kicker amps and the labels they give to the dials, but when you talk about 6db out of 18db, wouldn't that be the bass boost not the gain? Also, the Kenwood X993 HU has 4v preouts, if you set your gains to be equal to 2v input then it's possible that the gains were set too high. I'm just grabbing at straws I'm sure, but these were two things that stood out to me in this situation.

WOW..... That track is great. Can't wait to hear the finished product. I'm no artist or musician so I can't come up with any critiques or suggestions. Except keep it rollin', it sounds great. BTW, damn ITunes. I went to download the reference songs you guys were mentioning so I could hear and understand what you were talking about and they had that song by DJ Magic Mike, and lots of other songs by Kia Shine, but not In The South. Bastards do that to me all the time. /rant

Concentrate on getting better man. We're all anxious to see the build, but not at your health's expense. I got patience, I'll exercise it. LOL

-
Damn dude...... that's excellent work....

Alternator Voltage Help
altoncustomtech replied to ChaosWarlord26's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
You're welcome. If you go the potentiometer route they're cheap enough I'd buy several difference sizes (i.e. 50ohm, 100 ohm, 500 ohm, 1k ohm, etc.) so that you can get the best adjustment without making it real touchy and being able to turn it up to say 24v by accident. I doubt the regulator could hit that mark but to be safe start with the smallest. -
Alternator Voltage Help

Here, found a good page that explains the operation of a potentiometer as a rheostat even. Thought it might help: Potentiometer as a Rheostat
