I think the best suggestion would be to get the HO alt AND a second 2000d and strap the amps at 2 ohms. Your voltage will be more stable and you'll be giving some seriously good and potentially cleaner power to the subs. Just my .02

Goldwood speakers are a fairly generic brand. I've used them to repair/replace some drivers in house speakers for myself and a few friends and they do a pretty decent job. I'm not sure how much abuse they can take, and they're not the best at accurate music reproduction but they're not half bad either. If I was going to look into building a set for my vehicle, I'd look into a different brand though. Madisound has a brand named Silver Flute which has peaked my interest, especially after SMGREEN20 has said they're comparable to the Hybrid Audio L6 mids which says alot to me about the quality of their musical reproduction and they're priced very similarly to the Goldwood stuff at the Madisound store.

Dude you have no idea, the Impala in the first pic posted just shy of 1,000hp on the wheel dyno and the big green 4x4 in the 5th pic broke the tires loose on the drums and posed up 597hp!!! Yeah there's alot of chevys there but there was plenty of mustangs, some chargers, a coupe of fury's a few old coupes and all kinds of stuff to round out the pack. The show was great, I'm looking forward to maybe entering the Jimmy next year and watching everyone flip out on the 8's. -

COME ONE, COME ALL!! On Saturday November 6th Vincennes University will be hosting it's annual car show and cruise in at Vincennes, Indiana. ALL vehicles are welcome to attend and enter the car show competition. Low Riders, Jacked up 4x4's, Mini Trucks, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars, Classics, daily ground pounders, SQ cars, SPL vehicles, etc. They'll have trophies for almost anything that can be judged. I've been in contact with the event coordinator who also said that if we can get a TL or some SPL meter at the event they'd love to have it and would adjust prizes, judging and whatnot accordingly for anyone wanting to compete. I'm tossing the notice up early in hopes of arranging someone from somewhere with a meter. The first show a few years ago had ~30 cars, last years show hosted ~100 and the turnout for this year is expected to be at least that good again. There's quite a few car audio vehicles showing up to this event and I'm sure if a meter was there even more would show up. So, if you're close enough and free please come on over! -

Thanks man, it was a blast.... Here's just a touch of everything that was there. I'll have a DVD of the entire show in a few days, I'll post more pics and some vids then. This was one of only two cars there with systems. The competition would have been mine.... If there was one, lol. -
Box for 18 btl in four door blazer anyone have any ideas

Where in Indiana do ye hail from? I'd be glad to help out however I can there fellow Hoosier. I'd agree with Tej as well, 6.5cuft net tuned to 32hz sub firing up, port firing back should be nice and mean. Getting below the window line will be a pain if you're planning on competing, but it may be feasible. Also, what electrical upgrades do you have done or planned. Supporting 2k+ is going to take some juice as it takes power to make power. Don't forget that's 6.5cuft NET, which means there has to be sub, port and bracing displacements added to that figure. -

Best port placement for a center console
altoncustomtech replied to oxsign's topic in SPL & SQ / Fabrication
That's nothin, seen a guy at the local college here with an S-10 with inverted 15's done in a crazy looking fiberglass enclosure. He'd drive around using a motor for an arm rest. I'm with you on that. The box I'm working on right now is a down firing box. I would try port down myself if the configuration will allow for it, or port back if it won't. I don't see the port firing up that low and in front of you allowing good interaction between the port and front wave of the subs, but then what do I really know. -

There's a brand new Holiday Inn Express right as you come into Vincennes off of HWY 41... I'll text you the address asap... There's plenty of stores, Jay-C's, Wally World, etc. it 's up to you if you wanna bring anything extra. BY ALL MEANS BRING THE GIRLS!!! My daughter will be 12 later this month, she'll enjoy the company!!!!! With her 3 brothers she doesn't get much girly playtime. Afraid I wasn't able to find a meter, so it looks like we'll just be jammin' for the show off fun of doing it. I was looking forward to seeing the cutty in person, but I understand as well if you're unable to bring it, I'm just glad you're all making it down!! -

Chop you're welcome to use the couch, but I'd recommend the spare bed, lol. Give me a call sometime, I'll be more than happy to walk you through some steps to get it working right again.

Narrow down my choices on a new 12" subwoofer
altoncustomtech replied to funbogie's topic in Newbie Sign IN
Welcome to the forum! That's a fairly informative first post. I personally would suggest the Fi BL as I do love my Fi Q's and want to share the Fi experience with everyone I can, lol. Seriously though, for the more SPL oriented output you're looking for the SA-12 or BL would probably be the better choice's. The ICON still gets plenty loud but like the other SSA subs is more SQ oriented, but what the hell do I really know I don't have any personal experience with any of the three, lol. My vote is still for the BL on the SAX-1200. Good luck and again, welcome to the forum! -

Giving this a bump. Show is in a couple of weeks now, it looks like there's going to several people driving in for this, one person may even be driving about 8 hrs to come in. Since it's going to be a long haul for a few the wife and I decided that it would be unkind for everyone to show up and then just take off without showing any other hospitality. So we're inviting anyone who attends over to the house for some grillin' out, bon-fire, and whatever silly nonsense that may accompany that many car audio nuts and gear heads getting together in one place out in the middle of nowhere where the noise won't bother anyone but the deer, coyotes and whatever else happens to be in earshot. -
This may have already been posted, though I didn't find anything on a search. An interesting read I thought. Ascendant Audio SMD review
-
lol.... figured as much.... still curious as to why it didn't come up on the search before I posted.... oh well... :edit: aahhh.... I see now.... SMD was never mentioned in the post and that's what I did the search for...
-
Damn she's lookin' sexy chop and I actually like the font they used for your nick name. I'm making plans for the families to get together for some fun after the car show if you're interested, and the invitation goes out to all of the IAK and SSA members who come down. I'm looking forward to hearing what the XCON's can do after you get it done as well.

The subs will perform fine on that power. Just because you see people putting 700-1k to each one doesn't mean that's what needs to be done to get them to perform. With the lower than rated power you can get by with a larger, more efficient ported enclosure to help with the output. How they sound will be a direct result of the enclosure, it's tuning and the environment (vehicle) they play in. I've not gotten to hear what mine sound like yet, but everyone I've talked to who's using them says they sound pretty good.
-
Thanks man. Thanks, yeah they should be plenty solid for a 6.5". Once they're completely built I'll smooth them up and be painting them the same color as the truck.
