a single solid amp should work fine on pushing those RL-ps. i'm actually debating on getting another RL-p 15. if i do, i'll just have my arc amp push them. they'll get ~500 watts each.
-
so no more plain black RL-p's? looks so classy logoless...
-
that's an opportunity of a lifetime!

Well I took apart the stereo in my old car so I can transfer into my new car...and I was looking at the sub and noticed some slight oxidation on the pole piece. So I took out some leftover Eagle 1 Never-Dull and went to work. Came out pretty nice. Also re-ran the bridge wires on the 'inside' so it'll hug closer to the magnet and have a cleaner look.I gotta go back and redo some of the area near the magnet boot though.

how big is the flare?

thanks debating if i should get it to a mirror finish, but that'll remind me too much about audiobahn
-
holy crap that's a hell of a write up! very very very nice install man.

going to get a new car soon, and i was thinking of going IB with the RL-p. having the extra trunk space would be nice but i'm not sure if the RLp will perform nicely in an IB configuration. right now i have the bad boy in a 2.0 net sealed box, pushed with 1k watts from an arc amp. so how well will the RLp work IB? thanks in advance for any feedback!
-
hmm, that's promising to hear. how loud did it get in IB config?
-
man that will be a sick setup. i have 1 RL-p 15 fed ~1000 watts and it's plenty loud. i can only imagine what 4 of them can do...

planning to put some white marble laminate on the box...the sub will really seem like a black hole then...
-
with 300 watts went to a small audio meet in here in town, and many people had their stuff metered. i figured what the hell, so i borrowed a friend's amp (i STILL don't have my main amp yet...but that's for another thread). his amp puts out 300 @ 2 ohms. the termlab was used, and was placed in the passenger side kick panel. i hit 137 dB... guess that doesn't seem TOO bad considering the sub is in a 2.0 sealed, and in the trunk....with only 300 going to it....
-
well it's connected to the Arc...and omg this sub can get loud. gonna tweak the amp a bit more and will post some opinions... great sub Mike pic of amp pic of sub
-
solution...turn it down!

ah i had my ears covered in his explorer lol. he had on earplugs and only burped his MTs when we got 'ready'

Anyone ever checked to see how warm the cone gets?
carguy83 replied to noah katz's topic in SoundSplinter
Well, given that the cone will flex during high excursion; wouldn't that deform the cone aswell? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> aluminum has a pretty high melting point of around 1220 degrees F. if the cone got anywhere close to that temperature, your car would be toast. -
yeah i was in the car with my finger on the pause button on my remote. i just did several 3 second bursts. it's not that loud... now sitting in my friend's explorer that did a 155+ dB...now THAT'S loud...
-
wow, 135 with a 12 with about 300 watts? what kind of box is your sub in?
-
Well time to strap the RL-p to this bad boy and see what she can do.
-
well as reference, i had my rlp 15 in a 2.0 sealed box, powered by a 300 watt amp...i managed to hit 137 db. it should be louder ported with more power. but for now i'm keeping it sealed, and will feed this baby more juice.
-
it's finally coming in on the 18th.
-
well i'm planning on sending ~800-900 watts daily. should be louder i'm sure i can squeeze out a few more .x dB's if my backseat could fold down
-
now if i waited a little longer i could've gotten that sub instead
-
yeah, my RL-p is logoless as well...thinking about slapping the two stickers that Mike included with the sub onto my box and call it a day
-
it should be coming in soon. just some holdup over at the arc factory
