shot a small vid earlier: reason i have it in the backseat is because my trunk is a mess at the moment lol. plus i still a pair of RLi-8's back there.

update: took some better pics today of the fleckstone. got the sub in, and had a quick listen. the thing is a low end monster! there's zero port noise thanks to the flared opening, and the sub is pretty musical. response wise, it's a little warmer than the hertz, but it's keeping up with any music i throw at it. i'll need more ear time to give a better review. closer shot of the fleckstone. waiting to get wired and screwed in. threw it in the backseat for a quick listen.

update: getting ready to drill the cutout painted the port black. the fleckstone looks pretty damn good. i'll snap better pics tomorrow. i still need to carpet the bare panels and install the terminal cup.

thanks chris. looking foward on completing the build.

lol i'll put my money he only double baffled so the flares could clear from the floor maybeeeeeeeee the baffle did help reduce the port length going inside the box by .75". But that's all I needed to keep the flare from hitting the magnet on one of the subs.

Once again i forgot to take more pics during the build. i was too eager to finish lol. these are some beefy 8s! i had a couple of 4" aeros i wasn't using so i decided to use it for this build. the circles on the flush panel didnt come out 100% round. i need a jasper jig and router. putting the port together... test fit currently have it in my car til he picks it up. got my arc sending the pair around 800 or so. i'm VERY impressed with their output. to my ear, it's close to my RLp 15 sealed. SQ is pretty nice as well. it's pretty punchy with rock and stuff, quick with the dance/techno, and drops low with hip hop. i think he'll like it.

thanks mike. badass product as usual. well sad to say my RLp 15 is sitting next to my bed. i currenty have a 12" hertz audio hi-energy for the bass duties in my car. nothing wrong with the 15, it's just took up too much space. so with the hertz, i can have a very small enclosure and gain trunk space back. it's .75 cubes. i'm not going to sell the my 15 though lol. i love it too much to sell, plus it's the bare cone design from back then. B) before i took it out it was in a 2.0 net sealed and 2.5 cubes ported to 30hz with two 4" aeros. thinking of turning it into a HT sub. it should get nice and low. my trunk as it sits (minus the carpeted box. haven't taken any updated pics yet)

Wished I had taken pics of during the construction of the box, but I didn't have my camera on hand. But it's your plain sealed box. Internal volume of .75 cu ft net. Hertz called for an insanely small .57 cubes sealed, but I was afraid the bottom octaves won't be as pronounced. So I ended up going with .75 cu ft. First some pics of the new sub for those who haven't seen it in my other thread. It's a Hertz Audio Hi-Energy 12. pretty nice and simple cone with the Hertz logo on the dustcap. bright ass orange magnet rubber boot. It's pretty simple looking....no huge surround or massive motor structure. This thing is tiny compared to my Brahma MKI 12. Flush mounted. Still needs carpet, and I'm debating whether to add a grill or not since I will be using the trunk more. Main objective of this redo was obtain more trunk space, and to tighten up the bass response. The RLp 15 was nice and all, but simply took too much room even when sealed. Excuse the poor pics from my cell phone. But yeah, this was during the amp rack build. Amps are both sloped at 30 degrees. the view you'll see when i open my trunk. Accidently made the rear columns a bit too short. No biggie. Some better pics inside the house. It'll be carpeted as well. I'm thinking of tracing out the footprint of each amp, and then cutting out the MDF that's showing when you're looking at the whole assembly. So the amps 'float' without anything noticeable holding it up. But that's for later... Some pics of it installed minus the carpet and such (which will be completed soon. I need to get some carpet.) I do like how it looks so far though. Look at all that room! Initial impressions: The sub is pretty damn accurate with all the stuff I've thrown at it. Output wise, it's no where near as loud as my RLp 15. But it did make up for output in terms of overall SQ. Spent a bit of time tweaking the crossovers and such, and got it to blend in with the front stage pretty well. I'm pretty content with the outcome and its performance. I'll give a better review once I get more eartime, and post updated pics of it carpeted and all. Comments?

got this recently. decided to snap some pics for you fellas. it's a hertz audio hi-energy 12. enjoy. pretty nice and simple cone with the Hertz logo on the dustcap. brightass orange magnet rubber boot. Natural fiber cone ftw. pretty plain looking butt. i'm still keeping my RL-p 15. more than likely the RLp will see home theater duties. box build will soon follow.

built the box this evening. didn't take pics during the assembly since my bro took my cam. anyhow. here's a few. it will be eventually carpeted. it's .75 net airspace. recommended was an insanely low .57 cubes! the bigger box should help it drop a bit lower in the response. i'll temp install it in the car tomorrow and see how it sounds.

yeah that's the peak rating. rms is spec'ed at 600 watts. i'll do a little review comparing it to the RLp and Brahma mk1....although the latter two are really in a different league heh.

got it from a local dealer it'll go into my car.
-
haha yeah, guess i'm not gonna throw this sub away yeah the orange is pretty bright. should be fine though, not planning to invert the sub.

Been doing a bunch of reading and looking for a smaller sub for my car. For the past three years or so, my RLp 15 handled the bass duties, and now I'm itching for a change. It's a great sub, but I want to step down to a 12 or a solid 10. So far I've looked into the Fi Q, Diyma 12, Hertz Hi Energy (I LOVE the Mille, but it's out of my budget, my cousin has a Mille 12...sweet sub), IDQ's, and the Rainbow Profi. So far I'm leaning towards the Hertz. Any other subs you guys have in mind that I can look into? I sort of regret selling my old Brahma 12 MKII. That was a nice sub.
-
i have before i went ported. guess what i'm looking for is a sub that'll shine in 1 cubes or less. as for the RLp, i'll probably put it to HT use.
-
cool, thats good to know. the Q looks like a very capable driver. looking forward on trying it out.

Hello all, So I have been browsing around for a smaller sub(s) to take over the bass duties in my setup. I currently have a 15" Sound Splinter RL-p (that I REALLY love), but I want to regain some of my trunk space back. My buddy was going to sell me a pair of his SS RL-i 8s but decided he'll keep it for his new vehicle he recently bought. Anyhow, I have been looking at the Fi Q for a few days now reading reviews and such. I'm debating between the 12" and the 10" vesion. I'm just worried the 10 won't have sufficient output. I'm going sealed regardless of it being the 10 or the 12. Power wise, I have up to 1kw on tap from my Arc 1500-XXK. So to those of you who own the Q 10, how do you like the output on it?
-
nah don't get me wrong, i love the output of the rlp sealed. it'll shake my entire car. but i want to downsize a bit to get some trunk space back. i had a brahma 10 mk2 back in the day, and that thing slammed. i kind of regret selling it.
-
i did have the RLp sealed up before. it still took up too much room for my liking. yeah i have rear speakers in the rear doors for my passengers.
-
This will take over the duties of powering my front stage. The 2100-XXK that's in there right now is doing fine, but the Germaniums seems like it wants a bit more power....so a bit more power they shall get. The 2100-XXK rated at 100 x 2 @ 4 ohm, the 4150-XXK when bridged will do 320 x 2. (Don't think I'll send THAT much power to them though, but it's good to have some headroom) Not sure if I'm going to use this lil guy. If anything I'll just put it on the 1500-XXK that's powering my sub.
-
for sealed, i recommend 2.0 net volume. i had my rlp 15 in a 2.0 net and it performed wonderfully. got pretty low too. my current box is tuned to 30 hz, and the output is still fairly flat, and the sub still drops pretty low.

the XXK siblings got the 4150 hooked up, sending ~200 to the germs per side. they sound freakin awesome now. i crossed them around 65hz or so and they take it like a champ with no distortion even at high volumes. -
