Yes, I also double checked the resistance after i hooked it up and it was ~1ohm

I just received my SSA Icon D2 sub today after a longgg wait, between the box, and then the sub. So I am anxious to get everything installed, but I don't want to make any mistakes. I've been looking at this wiring diagram to wire it in parallel to 1ohm. And then from the manual I am planning on wiring it like the top picture. I'm a little confused by the diagram in the manual, I can just connect to 1 positive and 1 negative, right? I will set the gains using the stickied tutorial. What should the subsonic filter and LPF be set at? Are these lower and upper cutoffs for what frequencies my subwoofer will play? Bass boost and phase should be set at zero, correct? Are these the proper settings I should use? subsonic filter - all the way down LPF - ??? bass boost 0 Phase 0 How am i supposed to know what frequency I'm setting the subsonic filter and LPF at if they just have a lower and upper limit labeled? I don't want to mess up my first sub or amp. Thank you. I did try searching, but didn't find what I was really looking for.

Sounds good. Thanks to everyone for their input. -
Wiring Icon D2 Sub in Parallel to SAE-1000D? Also, amp settings

I was curious how would I know that it is set at 30, or 32, or wherever? The knob just goes from 10hz to 60hz -
Wiring Icon D2 Sub in Parallel to SAE-1000D? Also, amp settings

I will try the LPF set straight up, thanks for the info. I actually have an SAE-1000D, but I would assume it is the same setting. Any suggestions on how to set the sub sonic filter to 32hz? Is that also a slope like the LPF setting? -
Wiring Icon D2 Sub in Parallel to SAE-1000D? Also, amp settings

Sorry I left out some details. It is a ported box, tuned to 32hz. If my headunit (pioneer deh-p6000d( can define what frequencies are sent to the amp, can I just leave LPF turned up to a high frequency? How could I set the LPF to 80hz? i was thinking to just play a test tone at 80hz, and when I hear it playing through the sub, the LPF would be set ~80hz. -
ground location
eman88 replied to mwerling1212's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I have the same question, how would you use a dmm to measure a ground for resistance? Touch one probe to your wire going to the (+) battery terminal, and the other probe to your ground? -
Damn it. I thought this was a new post, of boxes he recently made (potentially mine?) Don't tease me like that

Niceeee. I just got my design a few days ago from Quentin, I'm getting pretty pumped. haha

Damn. I wish I had seen that sooner. I spent 260 shipped for the refurb sae-1000d. Oh well...

I'm planning on putting a headunit and sub in my 96 accord sedan. I am looking to get a refurb Sundown SAE-1000D to power the sub for only ~$230. Here are the stats: 1000 watts x1 @ 1 ohm 600 watts x1 @ 2 ohms 300 watts x1 @ 4 ohms I should get a sub with dual 2ohm coils, so that when wired in parallel, they would be at 1ohm to the amp, correct? I'm undecided between a 10" and 12" Q. Any suggestions?? I don't really know what the difference would be (stupid question maybe?) I will be putting it in a ported box. I just moved from Pittsburgh to Houston for the summer, so I don't have any tools to make a box, otherwise I would have liked to do that. I will have a shop make a box and do the installation for me. For reference: My friend has an 12" Alpine Type R in a ported box powered by an Alpine mrd-m605 amp and I like the way that sounds. My knowledge is low, but I have been looking around this website for a while trying to learn. This will be the first time I'm doing anything like this. All the work will be done by a shop since I don't have anything down here in Houston. I also need to get a headunit, I just want a cd player that can also control my ipod. Hopefully under 200 for that. Thanks!

Thanks Scott. I was pretty set on getting an FI sub until I saw that deal. Maybe in the future!

When are you planning on having my box spec'd out and designed? I'm piecing together everything else, just got my amp today Thanks, -Eric 96 accord

Knukonceptz 4 guage amp wiring kit?
eman88 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm looking at this kit for my 96accord to wire an SAE-1000D in my trunk to an ssa icon. Its the first time I'm doing anything like this, so I am trying to ensure I don't mess anything up. I tried to search but didn't find anything. http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-AK4 and this one http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK4 The only difference I see is that the cheaper one comes with a 5m RCA cable instead of 6m, and also says the RCA has a built in turn on lead. So if I go with this one, I will have absolutely everything I need to wire my sub amp. And with regards to wiring, I have to keep the RCA and power cable separate, correct? So I should run one down one side of the car, and one down the other side? Thanks -
Quentin, can you let me know where I am in the order list? This is Eric C, with the 96 accord and a 10" Icon. Thanks

Knukonceptz 4 guage amp wiring kit?
eman88 replied to eman88's topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
Thanks for the input. I will just go with the second cheaper one. I ordered some 18gauge wire to run as a turn on wire incase the RCAs don't work like you said. -

What kind of wire do you run as a turn on wire? -
Pioneer DEH-P6000UB or other head unit??
eman88 posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I'm looking at getting a headunit to play my ipod and cds. I don't want bluetooth, or anything else like that. Having an aux input could come in handy if I want to plug in my phone (blackberry) and play music off that. I'll be powering my stock speakers in my 96 accord sedan off the headunit, and then will have a sub hooked up to it (SAE-1000D to an SSA Icon 10"). I already ordered the amp from db-R and the sub/box from Quentin. Anyway, Crutchfield has the Pioneer DEH-p6000UB for only 150, which seems like a great deal? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P6000UB/Pi...tures_and_specs I was also looking at the pioneer deh-p510ub for 185 at sonicelectronix or woofersetc. I've heard some iffy things about both of these websites??? Anything else you recommend in this price range (under 200) that might be better? If not, I'm probably going to order it tonight. Cliffnotes: 96 accord stock speakers, no plans to upgrade SAE-1000D to an SSA Icon 10" sub edit* Is there anyone in Houston willing to help with the installation of my sub and amp, and set it all up? I'm afraid I'm going to mess up some settings and blow my sub. -
Amazing deal. I know you are swamped with everything. When we talked on the phone, you said you hadn't gotten my email yet. I'm Eric with the 96 accord. Take your time with everything!!

I ended up going with Quentin's deal and buying a 10" Icon. I think I'm going to go with this head unit after looking around for a while. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P6000UB/Pi...0ub&tp=5684 I just want ipod control, and a cd player. No bluetooth, no whatever other crazy shit headunits do now I've read that you can just use a regular ipod cable instead of the 30 dollar pioneer cable. Any knowledge about that? Maybe I should post in the correct forum? Thanks again

Not sure. 4 gauge maybe? I still need to figure all that, and need a head unit.

Thanks for the info. I wish I had planned this all out so I could have built a box back in Pittsburgh where I have a table saw and all my other tools. That half off custom boxes deal would make a ported box for a 12" under 60bucks +shipping, seems like I can't beat that. Or a free enclosure if I buy a sub from him.. decisions....

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the amp from DB-r. I figured I would have a shop do it because I couldn't build the box myself. I didn't know about those places I mentioned, I will look into those! I know(think) i can install the headunit myself, it was the amp and sub wiring I am worried about, mainly the runs to my trunk. I'm also worried about setting the amp and headunit correctly so I don't blow the sub. Maybe I can find someone in the Houston area to help out?

I drive a 96 accord sedan, its basically just a beater until I get out of college in a year and buy something nice. I'm looking to put a new headunit, and a sub in it. Currently it is all stock. So I'm looking for recommendations on a basic headunit (under 200? is that realistic?) that can just play cds and also an ipod. I've been looking at subs and amps also, in particular the FI Q 10 or 12. What amp would you guys recommend with these subs? I also see that they have a clearance on the X 12, what amp would you recommend with that sub? http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...26684&st=60 I want to keep sub+amp under 550 hopefully. Realistically, is my car going to rattle a lot with a decent sub in it? Should I install some kind of sound deadening in the trunk? For reference, my friend has a 12" Alpine Type R with a Alpine mrd-m605 in a sealed box in his e46 3 series and I think that sounds pretty good. I imagine the q10 or q12 would sound better than that, how does the x 12 compare? I listen to mostly rap, although also some music like 311, Incubus, and also techno sometimes. Sorry for all the questions!!
