so what happened to those old samples? cough em up!

so a 2kw us amp could put 1kw daily to my 12's? anyone want to chime in with any tips or anything on running these with so much power daily?
-
actually i ALMOST ordered a refurb 2500d from ikesound. those things are beasts, but they arent easy on electrical systems, and i just think i can find something sexier and with cleaner power for about the same price. (as a new one, not a refurb)
-
had considered it, but that will only be able to put 8-900 watts rms on each 12 for daily music right? i think i need a grossly underrated 2kw amp or something rated at more like 2500 so i can turn it up 2/3 or 3/4 of the way and still slam them.

well i've gotten used to the sealed box, wanting a little more output so i think im going to tackle a ported box. i have some generic plans, another person from another forum is building this box for his solobarics. the outer dimensions would be basically the same, but i'm not sure about the port. i think i want it to fire upwards. heres the link to the plans. also, i've never built a ported box, could someone explain to me why its in square inches? thats the surface area of the inside of the port right? i would like to tune the box to around 30 hz, no higher than 32, any suggestions for the port? http://thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthread.php...threadid=327887 scroll down to the second set of plans he did, about 1/3 of the way down the page.

this thread is still ongoing, hes posted another 2 designs for different ports, the rest of the box stays the same. any thoughts on which port design might sound best, or other advise for tackling a project like this?

i've got a nine.1 for my 12's, and an orion 8004 im going to power an alumapro alc 6.2 component set with. im planning on running the mids off 2 channels and the tweets off the other 2. im thinking of buying these rca's http://cgi.ebay.com/Stinger-4-Channe...QQcmdZViewItem but i didnt know if it was cool to use a 4 channel set like that with 2 of them running the components (split with a stinger helix y cord on each one, so the mids and tweets will both be playing the front channel) and the other 2 used for the bass on the nine.1. they should be fully shielded so this is cool right? also how do i want to wire the amp up? i just bridge 2 of the channels with the 4 ohm mids and get a 2 ohm load right? what about the tweets?

i could use the snot knocked out of my nose, maybe i could come check it out sometime lol. my system is nothing to sneeze at, but it would probably seem like it to you lmao. if that doesnt impress you, maybe a ride in an 11 second trans am will in any case, to ssa.

are these the best rca's to use in my application?

someone on eca told me that shielding does nothing for audible noise and can make it worse lol. said i should go with the hypers. the same seller has them for a few bucks less, but does this hold any water? -

http://cgi.ebay.com/Stinger-4-Channel-Heli...oQQcmdZViewItem weird, maybe it will this time... if not, its the 4 channel helix rcas in this guys ebay store, the red ones. http://stores.ebay.com/Bag-Boy-Home-And-Ca...storeviewQQtZkm -
nice setup... where at in wv? im in martinsburg.

yeah looks good i'd snatch it up, as long as you know what you're getting yourself into. these cars can either be a pain in the ass to have in the long run, if you know how to maintain it, or cost you a good deal of money unless you have cheap places to get it worked on. another thing. it does not get good gas mileage lol. that stuff isnt cheap these days. we should run em after you get it all tuned up

im also caught in a decision between the ologys and the arc acs 265's which are basically rainbow contours with a different crossover and the pro tweets. they're going in fiberglass kicks in an 87 trans am. how are the tweets with the ologys or has anyone heard them? i dont want anything harsh, i like smooth and want silk unless there is a very smooth metal tweet. -
what the hell is an loc, and what is this jl clean sweep?
-
box specs?
-
holy crap. how much do those babies run? hmm wonder if 2 of those 15's would be very loud in my trans am? naaaaa whats one of those things weigh about 50 pounds?
-
god i love the look of the logoless rl-p's... wish they still were like that, but gotta get the name out i guess
-
i can get a pair of koda 6.5 inch components with the tweets and crossover for 175 bucks.. i want something with good midbass but i dont want only midbass. does that sound like a good deal? i had been thinking about the rainbow dreamlines for 300 but i dont know how they compare to the kodas, have heard good things about both but never a comparison. they'll be going in sealed kickpanels in my 87 trans am
-
those are really nice, but i dont want to drop quite so much on a component set, i kind of capped myself off at 300

today after carpeting my box, i hooked up my multimeter to wire coming from the box. the speakers are wired in what should be a 1 ohm load. exactly the same as the fosgate diagram, except that my + and - from the amp are not both to opposite coils of the same speaker, the + goes to one speaker, and the - goes to the other speaker. what gives? i never did check it before so i dont know if i've been running 1.5 ohms since i hooked it up or not.
-
i have much to learn.... *tries to snatch pebble and fails miserably*
-
man thats small... im sure 2 would still get louder, but they wouldnt be anywhere near their potential. what kind of vehicle is it?
