Hello all, what's good.. I have been running a 2005 RE xxx 15 in a Powered for Sound snail shell enclosure for over 3 years off of a hifonics brutus bx1500d at one ohm. I am pretty sure this enclosure has a tuning of somewhere around 27-28hz...This is the frequency range that my subwoofer moves the least at when playing sine waves. I think 28hz is also the FS of the 2005 xxx 15. Anyway, I am tired of the overly-loud, and sometimes sloppy bass that ported enclosures offer. Time to go sealed. I am going to be using the amp I already have, which provides 1500 watts at one ohm (some claim overrated). After some research I have decided on the following possibilities: - 2 dual 4 ohm Alpine type r 15's, which according to the parameters, are well suited for sealed alignments. They would be going into a 5.5 cubed gross sealed enclosure - 2 dual 4 ohm rl-p 15's, which would go into a 6 cubed gross sealed enclosure. - 2 dual 4 ohm JL Audio 13w6v2's which would be going into at least a 4 cubed gross sealed enclosure. - 2 dual 4 ohm Elemental Designs 16ov.2's which would be going into about a 4 cubed gross sealed enclosure. What does anyone think? All opinions are welcome.

Haha cool, thanks guys.

You know, I just might do that. I've had the damn thing in 3 different ported enclosures, including the snail shell, and now Ill throw it in a sealed box. Fuk it. I'll experience the SQ of the RE xxx15 driver this time around, not just how loud I can get the thing. What do they require sealed? 2 cubes? 3 cubes?

I wish those werent so expensive.. I have honestly heard nothing but good things about the W6's... The W7's get bashed on a lot because of what you can get for the price, but W6's have a great rep IMO I do want the w6v2's... And yes, they are quite expensive. But at the same time, I am also quite intrigued by the idea of running 4 tens sealed. Oh well. Ill sleep on it. Thanks everyone.

Four of these, sealed and single 4 ohm ten inch each. They are 375 watts rms a piece. http://www.bostonacoustics.com/newproduct/G3_NPA.pdf Anyone have experience with Boston Acoustics?

Id like to see pics of the 15". What is the SPL rating on the new DP 15"? Is it still around 92.8 db?

so i assume youre running it free-air .................. It would help out tramendously if you told us what kind of box it is in and its volume.

Thanks. So I trust that my Hifonics BX1500D (1500 "or so" watts @1ohm) should drive it ok.. At least until i get something that does around 2000 watts at 1ohm.

Could anyone tell me what the least amount of wattage i could power one of these Death Penalties (15") with in just a daily/normal ported setup? All i have in my possession is a Hifonics BX1500D, which I GUESS is, at least as everyone has always said for years, overrated, and an empty Powered for Sound Snail Shell enclosure originally built for a 2005 15" RE XXX..... Thank you much.

id like to know this as well..

hello all, i currently have one dual 2ohm xxx15 in a snail shell designed enclosure wired to a bx1500d at one ohm. ive had this setup for about a year and it is very loud and sounds very good, but with this hobby, you all know how it goes; you always want to try something new and im still quite the bass-head.. ive wanted to try ddaudio for years and i think its about time. so, i was wondering if any of you guys would recommend the dd3500 series. ive always been a single-sub kind of guy, but 2 12s sound so intriguing because of the added cone area over a single 15, especially that of the dd variety, though the 9900

well gents, i just got off the phone with the owner of audioque (really nice old man, father of the owner of ddaudio). we mustve talked for about 20-25 min and im sold...two 12 audioque hds it is. theyre very, very similar to the dd9500s, which im sure you all know, cheaper than the dd3512s and a lot more powerful. a really, really good driver for the money, i think. they are very conservatively rated at 1kw rms. he says he has guys running 5kw-6kw to some for burps in comps and who knows, maybe someday i can enter one. the 12s need about 2-2.5 cubes a piece, which is good, i can do that. he also said that 1250 watts a piece will be fine on them daily. yeah, way better choice than the 3512s... sq can come later....im still young, lol.

whats going on tom?? (any word yet on another az meet?) yeah btnhfan said he really loved them and were very good drivers. so...thats good!

hey flakko, (im mainly from caraudio.com) and i have this same thread going on in: caraudio.com termpro.com teamssaudio.com ddaudioforum.com lol...these things seem to be beasts for only being dd's mid-level drivers!! so youre getting a 3515???
-
hmmm...link or website?
-
thought about those, too...but theyre a bit too pricey. thanks, anyhow.
-
thanks for the replies and opinions.

im not too concerned with clarity right now just something a lil louder. im still very much in my bass-head "stage". ive just been wanting to try dd for so long and im finding any excuse to, lol. ive thought about the new mags, but again, dd's drivers are just so sexy. perhaps next time on the mags. i want subs i can beat the chit out of. people have told me that they run 3500's with 2kw daily and with 3kw-3.5kw for burping at comps. i wont do any of that (yet), but you guys get the idea...i just want something new.

anyone??
