Hey guys I've been searching around trying to find the answer to this question with no luck. I've seen plenty of topics/build logs where subs are being inverted but no real how-to on the wire aspect which brings me to my question. Do I have to do anything special to the wiring if I want to invert my subs? I slightly remember reading something about needing to change the polarity. Is this true? If so, is there a setting on the amp or do I just switch the neg/pos wires on the amp? This would be the first time I'm trying this. The reason I want to do it is the baskets on my Nightshades are the oldschool sexy chrome and my box is a little on the small side. I hear running them inverted would help me out in both of those departments. Any tips or information I can get would be fantastic.

Unfortunately I haven't had a drill to use. I'm going out to the lake house in a couple hours to get it. My dad left all his tools there before he was re-stationed in Georgia. Will post pics as soon as it gets done! My work schedule and this Texas heat doesn't make it any easier.

Even incomplete it sounds amazing!!

Ya the V1s are around 65lbs. Jon stood back and watched me while I struggled walking the sub to my car. lol
-
Subs will be inverted tomorrow unless my friend calls me back about the drill within a reasonable amount of time tonight. I work bright and early in the morning so no late night for me.
-
You make a very good point. Really the only thing holding me back at the moment is a drill. I don't think it's going to go over to well with a screw driver.

I'm extremely happy with the 2 NS 15"s I just got running off 1500rms. :morepower1: These beasts hit notes with some real authority.

Thanks! This is exactly the answer I was looking for. If it weren't so damn hot outside I would go invert them right now. It's around 105*F right now so I'm staying in the AC. I will be sure to post my before/after results.

So you just reversed the wires on the subwoofer terminals then, eh? Would it be any different if I just did it from the amp or does it make a difference? Sorry if the questions seem dumb, I just want to make sure I have it all set up correctly. The Nightshades are dual 1 ohm and wired to a 1 ohm load. Wired up normally it looks like the picture below. The wiring really makes my head spin sometimes. lol

Indeed! Once I start reworking my frontstage I'll give you a holler. I just dont know what I'd do with the extra set of tweeters since I'd be using it as a rear fill. I dont wan't to modify my doors at all. I'd like to do straight drop-ins if possible. I also need to pick up a Sundown 125.2 or similar. I may even be able to cram a pair of Neo 8s in the rear door, who knows. Trial and error FTW! I'd love to have a full Sundown Caddy.

I actually don't have the wood steering wheel in mine... yet.

Good to see another Texan on here. What kind of system are you running?

So a new development on the Caddy occurred today on my trip to San Marcus. I met up with Big Jon and ended up with a pair of 15" Sundown Nightshade v1. They are running off my SAZ-1500D and in a box the box I already had. The box will be changed out on my next paycheck. (subs set my bank acct back a bit lol) I was going to mount them inverted but couldn't remember if I had to change up the wiring or any settings on the amp. So for today I just dropped them right in. I was worried they might just destroy the box from the weight. Luckily it's holding up for now. The Nightshades replaced my 15" AudioQue SDC2.5. I snapped some pictures for size comparison.

I heard this front stage today and it sounds absolutely fantastic. The range those tweeters have is ridiculous. Not to mention how well the Sundown 8s blend in. I really like how you kept them in the doors without exterior modification. The V1s were ridiculous on the 4500D... while they were still there. :drink40:

There is a blue civic around here that has 3 12" W7s on 3 1000/1s sealed which sounds pretty damn good. It's all fiberglass and plexi, though. It's been in a local shops show room for a while now. I would love to see a build log with 3 XCONS instead!! You're definitely going in the right direction.

Double your price range and you will be able to find subwoofers for that amount of power no problem.
-
Hey Hugo I was thinking maybe on the 17th or somewhere around there. I'll be meeting up with Jon to pick up a couple new toys for my Caddy then. Not sure where we will park with that beast Tahoe, though. Maybe more State Troopers this time? l
-
So when can I come check it out?!?!!?!?!?!?!
-
Hopefully someone from XS Power will chime in on the differences.
-
Yes... more DEEBEEZ and more ladiez!!! Iseewutudidthurrr

I want to see what's left of the car that hit it.
-
Would I notice a difference switching from Titebond to Gorilla glue?
-
Just wondering, what makes yellow glue better? I always used Titebond II as well.

I was looking at those pictures for like 5 minutes thinking, WTF is going on here?!?! Finally, my brain turned back on and I realized what was happening. I think the tinted tails look good. The stock ones just seem too bright for me with the color of the rest of the car. However, it's really a personal preference and tinted happens to be mine.

Very nice. Wish I could hear and see it in person.
