Hey Jon you doin the fiberglass work yourself? I was wanting to do some doors and I believe Hugo is going to help me out when he returns from vacation. Not sure when you are gonna do yours but maybe we can all get together or something. We planned for the first weekend in December. Let me know if you're up for it. Our cars are so similar the work is virtually the same.

I've spent a couple hours sketching up various designs on re calc and torres box calc. However, all I hear about any of the box design apps out there is that they are total crap. Working as much as I do these days I simply don't have time to become an expert in this area. Also understanding that install is a huge factor, I don't want to screw the design up. I am looking to build something this Saturday and want to get it done right so I don't have to change it again because of an improper design. I know there are a bunch of you out there that can do this stuff in your sleep. I don't mind paying for a solid design with cut sheet, etc. (i have PayPal) I also don't need anything super fancy. I have a jigsaw at my disposal for making the cuts. I used it on my last enclosure and the cuts turned out alright. I will list my equipment below for those interested in the job. The enclosure is for my 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. 41" wide x 23" high x 22" deep 2 x 15" AudioQue SDC2.5 SAZ-1500D Subs back, port back Mainly listen to rap/hip hop

The LN2 would evaporate fairly quickly. On top of that, it would cause so much condensation you would destroy everything. There are SO many reasons as to why this would not work.

Alarm/remote start troubles
inkfx posted a topic in Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors / Electrical
I just got an omega Excalibur installed by a shop around here and I'm having a very strange issue that hopefully someone can shed some light on. The shop has been troubleshooting this problem for over a week now. So here isnthe problem... After I arm the system, 30 minutes to the dot the alarm triggers and kills my ignition. What this means is the remote start feature becomes entirely useless unless I constantly start it before the 30 minutes is up. Today the installer told me it's the trunk that's triggering the alarm. I don't know anything about alarms so I'm pretty lost here. The installer has been doing this stuff for years and has never seen this happen. Anybody have some ideas as to why my alarm would trigger exactly 30 minutes after being armed? The car in question is a 2008 mercury grand Marquis LS. The alarm is the 1820edp by omega. -
Ooooooooo... staying tuned in.

Alarm/remote start troubles

Ya it ended up being the trunk release. They did not wire it correctly. So at the moment, I can't pop my trunk with the new alarm keys. They offered to re-wire it but I just don't have time to sit at that shop every day for a week again. It's really not too big of a deal for me since I have a door keypad that lets me pop my trunk. I definitely learned my lesson when buying alarms. -
your sayin so much dumb shit at once i dont even know what to tell you ... just shut your mouth. Bahahahahahahahahahahaha. Wow. That made me laugh so hard. I was thinking the SAME shit when he said that. Those are some really nice scores out of the TownCar and 1 15. My 2 15s on about the same power peaked at 139.6dB on BigJons TL.

Only problem I could see there is that may cause the tires to rub. It's probably pretty close as it is. Ride looks clean, though. Do you have any more pics? Also, what tires do you have on there?

Alarm/remote start troubles

Omega is closed for the day but I did leave a message. The wiring issue sounds very plausible. Im going to have him rewire the trunk release and see what happens. I will also ask him about the diodes and if he says they are in place I'll ask to see them. Now that I know it's the trunk hopefully I can get it resolved by tomorrow -

Thanks for the reply cobra. I'll have the installer check the wire tomorrow since they just closed. It really sounds like a wiring issue to me as well. -

It taps into the stock sensor. There is no additional module for trunk release. -

Ya I paid $400 for it all installed but I rather spend that then someone steal my rims or smash my windows. Well it's been 30 minutes with the system armed and the trunk release unhooked and the alarm hasn't sounded. Does this mean the trunk release feature is the culprit? If so, what can be done to fix this? Should I call up omega and see what they say? -

I'll have to make an account over there when I get to a computer. I'm at the shop right now so I'm on my iPhone. He disabled the trunk release and I have about 5 minutes to see if the alarm will go off. Thanks for the response steffan. -
No, it wont work like that. There is no way you are going to get 2 DVC2s to wire down to 1. You will need 2 DVC4s for that. The SAZ-2000D may be capable of .5 although I would double check before doing so. IIRC, some of the SAZ ran fine at .5 but it would void the warranty.

What is the part number on those AGMs from Oreilleys? I stopped by a store down the street from me and the guys just looked at me like I was speaking a different language. -
I really just wanted the symmetrical look but the circle ended up like 1/8 off center :/ but it's not really noticeable. I was actually going to say it looks about 1/8th off. ...just kidding. Box looks good. Visually I've always had a thing for the 2 ports gameplan.

2 Runs of 4ga =/= 0ga?

I'm not sure how similar all Ford vehicles are too each other but my Grand Marquis has pretty large holes to fit plenty of wire through. Check under the floormats/carpet in the front. I have one on the passenger and driver side of the vehicle. You may have already checked there but I just thought I would through the info out there. -

Sounds very promising. Opens up some options for when upgrade time rolls around the corner. Personally I'd love it if companies showed test videos with the setup in a car with a trunk. Almost every video I see to "show-off" a new sub or design is always in a hatch or SUV style vehicle. I can think of a few reasons why that is. However, as an owner of a vehicle with a trunk I'd just love to be able to see what results would be like with a setup similar. A single 12 on 350w RMS barely makes noise in a car like mine. (Grand Marquis/Crown Vic/Town Cars have the worst trunks) I mean shit, I have a near 20 gallon gas tank between my back seats and trunk. -
Are you ordering the dust plates on-line? I've been looking everywhere for some locally with no luck.
