OMG another which is louder! DD vs RE

That's what I hear. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with Alice at DD(one of the company owners) and I'm gonna give them a go. Now I don't have NEAR the rest of what I need, electricaly speaking. I've got a foundation I hope that will soon start to boom. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> we are going to have TONS of fun!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yessir, I just gotta get this DD thing goin' I've also talked with a guy that has MT 18's reconed with ATOMIC softparts. I can get the two for $600 plus shipping. Any thoughts on that setup?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dont think we have room for 2 18s. Unless you really want to run in modified. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> CRX style? facing up port to the rear? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Id be willing to bet you would be past the window line. What is the depth of the 18s? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hell, i don't know. I'm workin' this DD deal at the moment. The 18's would be rather large, huh?

    Box keeps sliding?

I used some stuff call skid-not on the bottom of an enclosure. It's the stuff that is painted onto tennis courts and stuff. Home Depot sells it. My box now scuffs any piece of my car if it touches! But it doesn't move in the car AT ALL! I'll sell it cheap!

how do i screw at an angle?

screws? Off the top of my head, line the trunk area w/saran wrap and glue that crap where it sits. I'd agree with you, drill the screws flush with the top side of the wood. Let them bite the bottom piece of wood at an angle if you need. If screws into MDF, predrill and use a countersink bit. DeWalt, among others, make 'em in 1 piece bits.

3 db per sub gain rule???

There, that day, YES. Anything goes kinda deal. It was sponsored by a new pawnshop/stereo store. $100 guaranteed first, $50 second, the rest of the pot is split by number of contestants. The more people in the class, the further down cash goes. In larger shows, 8th place still gets their money back. TWO CLASSES for this show only....0-1000w and 1001- up ...I fell into 1001 and up since my amps weren't listed in their amp book. (i forgot my manual) There was some CRAP there, no pro-stock, etc. so plenty of guys from other stores around Longview showed up. Jntar and I saw a guy shut his door DURING HIS RUN and tried to claim it as his hightest run. Crazy crap, but fun, local, and CASH.
  14. okay, that part I get, but does it have to be the SAME sub? make/model? I'm thinking of mixing RE SE 12 and JL 12w6v1's of all things. Each pair would be in their own ported enclosure, separate chamber, common box thing. Asking for trouble?

3 db per sub gain rule???

NO. It's an independent group running around www.roundupproductions.net they have CASH prizes, so it brings out ALL TYPES!! I'll take pics next time to show-n-tell! They use some meter called a terrason or something like that?? anyone heard of it? I ran 146.7 on it, then did 142.0 on a TL the next day.

3 db per sub gain rule???

yow! I'm just asking 'cause at a show Saturday, I got beat by a guy that had 2-15's in 1 box in the rear cargo area and 2-12's in the back seat...I thought a good cancellation lesson was about to be learned, instead I got pwned by a 'throw it all in the truck' system. Plus I could pick up these JL 12w6v1's for $100 ea asking. I was gonna make the properly tuned - matching the RE box I've built - and see what happens, but REALLY was doubting it.

What do you guys use to seal

What do you guys use to seal

I use the high density stuff. Get the stuff that looks more like rubber. It's made for tight seals.

    How much would yall charge??

You're a great helper! But I would pay, and you should charge if some just wants something done and not assistance with something.

Crest whitening Strips and gorrila glue

My run in w/Gorilla Glue left nice stains on my hands for about a week! I read the bottle, 'pfft, it won't stain my hands!' and proceeded to get what I thought was 'a little' on my hands. Wiping it with a towel was NOT the right thing to do!!! The label wasn't exagerating at all. I hear it's great for furniture repair/stiffening. The foamy goo coming out from the seams scared the crap outta me, I thought it would push the wood apart. It might have had the wood not been clamped.

What competition assocation do you prefer???

I'd like to see more shows in the Dallas area. 1 SLAP and some smaller USACi and USAC outlaw shows. Some of the shows, people know who'll win by who's there, so they don't even compete. I'm not a member of any organization, I just like to see the results of my system changes.
