If you look at Knu's website you will see that they offer different kinds of wires. some of them are pure copper, and others aren't.

Good point, i've had problems with knu wire jackets melting while soldering terminals. no matter how careful i am. I would suggest the welding wire over knu, believing Adrian on his heat test. And you will save $$$, which is always good.

if you run a "clean" 1k watt signal to a pair of subs, rated at 200 watts each. then they, most likely, will still blow. so you dont need to set your amp to the absolute max (before clipped signal) to properly set the gains. i would still just set by ear.
